Good Idea sir...also put an adjustment bolts under the plate..once two bolts are tightened or loosened we can create the required angles sir
Sensational! Thanks for the vid -- EXACTLY what I was looking for! :-)
First one showed missing parts. Second one was complete. It's a working bench grinder ruclips.net/user/postUgkxxC8HPnl24fu0XhMU_nbmWNEUoK1RMHXk . One thing I like alot is that it's surprisingly quiet. I don't feel like I'm sacrificing any rpms or power for the quietness either. All in all it's a very nice machine. No vibration whatsoever.
Great idea - looks solid. And you can cut any thickness of shim you need with pretty basic tools. I want to mount a round stock holder to do a simple lathe grind.
great idea.
l bought jooltool to go with my vari-speed b. grinder, jooltool on youtube.
That's a STUPID ! IDEA !! WHAT'S THE IDEA ! OF PUTTING THE BAR ! ACCROSS ! THE GRINDER ! FOR !?? ITS AN ! OBSTRUCTON !
Hi 250w is it enough for that tool ?
I think it’s a good idea if you don’t have the right grinder to do what you need to get done. I’m looking for the support arms that bolts on the inside of the grinder cover’s, where can I get them from? I live in Michigan.
Looks like it does a good job if you don’t have the right machine to do that with. Where can I find the support arms that bolt to the inside of the grinding stone covers?
In Outer Space
make a block cut it out to hold tool at a angle 15°will do use set screws to hold..rough hand grind an bech grinder..get piece of stock diameter you want turn shank so fits chuck drill press..go lowest rpm..and use lapping compound on your bar stock..start up use one hand hold block..other work spindle up and down check in a few minutes reapeate till satisfied..plus side when dull can rehone to sharpen
In Principal your idea is good. But it's become hazardous now due to the fact of when your wheel reduces it's diameter, a bigger gap will happen between the grinding wheel and the rest plate, so if any object where to wedge itself between this gap, specially if you're holding it, well...I'll leave that thought with you guys for a moment. If I were you, I'd return the machine to its original specification.
It's clearly a european grinder, but I detect no accent. Hmmm
I want 10% cobalti Hss1/2" cutting tool
Over many totally overbuilt DIY tool rests this is something I was looking for. Pure essence of DIY - simple and works.
So who's building the Over Built Tool rests ! Then ?
Hello. Well done. Good luck
*_Bought this as a surprise for my bro...◇◇>_**_allmy.tips/MBenchGrinder?mたa_**_ a tricky thing, buying tools for another person. He loves it. The grinder works well and doesn't take up too much space._*
Dang dawg, make me subscribe! How you shape that HHS?
Try honing backwards because any slight tilt forward as the stone bites, the cutting edge ends up getting slightly rounded, if done backwards the cutting edge lifts and is not touched by the stone.
mount the tool in a vice and hold the stone - never saw such ham fisted honing
DW 40 for cutting aluminum will help with the chattering.
It is wonderful sharper.pl.send address.
You DO know you're turning in the wrong direction, do you ?
Is it running clockwise or is it just the camera? Since the chips are building at the top of the tool I think it's correct.
Yeah you're right, I saw it wrong..but I do think his actual sharpening technique is wrong, when you sharpen it you need to move away from the cutting end, not towards it. He's not sharpening it, he's blunting it. Might still work tho, if you're lucky. And if you try enough times, you'll probably get lucky, for a radius you don't need it to be that precise most of the time anyway.
Dubbelehalvezool, What you say of the sharpening technique I tend to agree with you. If I had the same stone and task I think that the tool would be fastened in a vice and then stroke the stone up from the bottom of the cutting tool edge. This should make things quicker and easier to obtain that fine edge desired. John.
A simple but very effective improvement, the extra working area is really worthwhile. I've shamelessly copied your idea, with two small variations. 1. Rather than fixing the extended tool rest with holes, I've used slots, that way, as the wheel gets smaller, it's simple to move the tool rest forward minimising the gap between the wheel and the tool rest. 2. I milled shallow vee grooves into the tool rest surface giving the perfect drill grinding angle. Thanks again for the idea.
Greetings from the UK.nice clean and simple design.I just made one for mine but I changed mine slightly that I left the brackets in there original positions and used 2 tables.cheers tel
i
Until it stops running
I have a six inch grinder like this purchased from Menards for about $25 in the mid 1980s it still works fine. Had to replace the power switch with a $2 toggle switch 10 years ago because the original plastic switch was smashed in a move still runs fine.
what idiots would give this a thumb down, morons
A good job modifying the tool bar. cheers !
You don't actually show making the tool....... ?
Awesome!

I like the plate idea! It will work great for sharpening my kitchen knives with a compound coated plywood wheel.
where did you buy it for $30?
how big of a problem is small grind wheel (the radius that it produces) when grinding lathe tools?
The lathe sounds like it needs attention
Nice modification to the grinder. I have a couple I may do that to. I am very curious about the drill press in the background. Will you explain to me what is going on there?
It's a Drill press that drills holes
@@davidwillard7334yes but more importantly, it's a home brew mill with XY table
1:31 what's the name of this tool (stone)?
oil stone.. (abrasive)
Nice idea. Now if I could just afford a lathe. lol
handkreissaegenfuerung
Buy a 7 inch lathe from Grizzly or Harbor Freight and put it on your credit card. Cut back on eating out for a few months and pay off the lathe and you have a decent Sieg starter lathe.
A little honing isn't exactly what the title suggests. You don't actually show making the tool, just the final step....
Yes I found this video looking for examples of how people would have made their own radius tools. Can't say I found that here.
I just wanted to know how to shape HSS! There's more to life than radiusi...
use carbide end mill to make those rad !
You should round your stone instead of keeping it flat and work with the center of the stone. That's what I do anyways and was taught.
How long can you use it before you have to resharp them again? Also what dimension is that tool bit?
Great Presentation, may i ask the approximate shim you place between your 2 aluminum horizontal bars approximately 3/16' square, or should it be rectangular. ? Respectfully, Jim P
I like the mod but from what I've read and saw on other channels,You should only use the rest for your hands not for the steel..Or you would never be able to get all the correct angle you need :) but i would defiantly do the mod even just for a rest for my hands,But like everyone Say's there is no wrong way or right way to do this,It's down to personal preference and what works for you.
Nicely done, also nice to hear your voice. Be sure and wear your eye protection.
