Nice shoes but ruined due to this idiotic lace system. Eyelets where too small to use regular laces in an emergency, real convenient when you’re on vacation! Still a fussy, frustrating job when you’re home and have the correct replacement. Stupid, stupid design.

You make it look easy but honestly it’s a damn joke with this Soloman system I’ve spent 45 minutes trying to get this clip in and it doesn’t go and it’s a joke someone needs to figure out another way to do this it’s ridiculous

After half an hour of trying to get the last clip together I just threw them out. Finally got a knot small enough to fit through the clasp and it slipped off. Why not make the clasp a fraaaaaction Widder to fit the knot through?! Shouldn’t have to be a master at arts and craft to replace a shoelace.

Is it possible to open the plastic part keeping both ends together or once it clicks it stays blocked for good? I was wondering if it’s possible to put the laces in a different pair of shoes.

I only made it without knot, just burn the ends to small balls.

This is video explaining how to replace broken system with the new one. Can you explain how to reuse the system? If I want to change shoe but keep the laces, can they be reused?

This doesn't help explain how to get the connectors fitted. The instructions on the packaging are seriously lacking. I'm finding the process unnecessarily frustrating.

my clasp already came together, was not separated as you are showing and there were no instructions in the kit as you describe and I needed a wrench for the final part. A lot harder then this video.

its important to use pliers to make the knot super tight and small enough to fit into the connectors

Just wonder how we could make a heel lockdown with the quick lace system which we could not make a runner's knot?

The only comment I'd add, is that the flat side of the gear-shaped mechanism has to face up (towards the slot in the hollow slider), for the clip piece to click in. It's tough to tell from the manufacturer's diagram. Otherwise, I found this vid helpful. Ready for a couple hundred more miles, if my puppy will stop chewing on my laces. :)

A little help for those who have the newer pre-assembled slider kit, which is different than this video (needs to be updated just like Michael Gibbons suggested below). The one step not clear in the printed instructions (that fold out from the package) is that the slider piece is spring-loaded to pull apart slightly which opens up the holes to thread through the laces. Its quite easy once you figure out the spring-loaded piece.

Salomon has a new version that doesn't need assembly, waaay easier. However, the laces are thinner and stiffer than the old ones.

One more... clearly Aussie's have tougher hands than Canadians; despite smallest, tightest knots possible on the ends of laces within the 2 plastic lace joining bits, needed to use 2 pairs of pliers to exert pressure required to lock said 2 plastic joining bits. All a bit of adventure... really hoping laces outlast boots... ;)

Seems like Salomon has replaced the 3-piece tightening mechanism with a 1-peice one in the quick lace kit; better solution, just needs an update to the video to explain that.

Inside protective linen will wear out, used once before. Not really waterproof.
