It is the best receiver I have ever heard!!! Before Dirac it sounded amazing in 2ch stereo. But after I went to Dirac and installed the license, I was able to do more with how clean and pure the sound is in the room it is adjusted too. I will not ever buy anything but Arcam in the future, that's how satisfied - I am!!! Also - it will matter what speakers you do use?, to me my Paradigm`s have never sounded so amazing!!!

@@chktis Hey, for now I have Denon x4500 Receiver and Wharfedale Evo 4.3 towers and evo 4cs center speaker + some Canton sepakers as sourround! I listen to alot of music and wonder if Arcam Avr5 sound much better in 2ch stereo !

@@owisun85 I never heard a Denon x4500 so I can not compare. But I did have a Yamaha RXA2020 which I did think before the Arcam. That it sounded awesome in 2ch! But after I got the Arcam and ran it in 2ch with some of the usual music that I listened too, I had no clue to how much better the Arcam would sound over the Yamaha RXA. The difference was night and day!!! The tone, clarity and the depth was so much different and cleaner. I was hearing so much more and able to tell where it was coming from or played on a stage. The music approach's me in such a different way!!! Which has to do with the way it will send or hold back on depth of a instrument, or vocals/back up vocals. I don't know if this will help you? But for me - I love mine and every time I play it - I just love it from music, a movie or even just watching a tv show. Hell even commercials tracks sound sweet. and I hate commercials... lol.

@@chktis I read somewhere that Arcam Avr 5 is not microphone ready and wonder how the Dirac setup went from calibration perspective?

@@owisun85 DiracLive app is pre-installed on the AV5, you have to get a omnidirectional calibration microphone and pay for the Dirac license. (My license was at 50% off, because I got the Arcam AV5). Watch videos on how to calibrate Arcam AV. Then you will understand better.

I have the AVR5 with Dolby & DTS, to me that is all I need. I am now running My AVR5 with my front paradigm's, 4 -Polk RM101 Sat's, 4 - Yamaha height's F-6.5, R-8.0, So my system is 7.1.4. The AVR5 doesn't come with a microphone to run Diraclive out of the box. But I am using a Dayton UMM6 mic, that I got from amazon at a reasonable price, with a case. Plus I got a 50% discount from Diraclive for buying the Arcam, and it is the most in creditable sound I have ever heard, with every step up I have taken with this AVR5! I have never heard anything sound like this does! (Also - I just got a great deal on a Niles 1260 amp, which has given my whole system a little more power and cleaner, along with a SVS1000SB-PRO). I am sold on Arcam forever! Formally I owned several Yamaha RX-A's and I loved them as well. But this is a whole new level up!!! PS - Diraclive does makes a huge difference, I dont know much Auro 3D, so I cant tell what that would be like, or sound like? Hope that helps you. but I am Happier then I ever been, I listen to it every night now!

@@chktis Thank you that you have written !!So if I understand the microphone and Dirac what is different !?All power etc match the avr 10 !? Because then I don't see the point in 10 !!And it would be better priced !!! I would have 5.1 or 5.1.4 plenty!Actually then 5 and 10 I don't understand why they did it !! @@tibitibi1407 - The AVR10, comes with a calibration microphone (quality?) and no cost to use Diraclive basic! Diraclive - Calibrates your room - so that the sound is matching each speakers frequency and timing delay, which will match the room setting! Once you do it and learn how to adjust the frequency to your liking, you will love it! ( you just cant over adjust them or the speakers will start to make a clipping noise! The AVR10 will come with Imax and Auro-3D over the AVR5, but I am satisficed with just Dolby and DTS. If your are only going to run a 5.1 setup in a small room. I would just go with 5.1.2, my room is 17x13 an I have more speakers and sound then needed it, if I just run my 2 front mains for music it will drown out the room, an that was before I got the Niles amplifier. So if you are on a small budget and using a small room. I would start with the AVR5 to save your money an learn as you go. That is basically what I did. But I been messing around with avr's by Yamaha for years. and they came with YAPO calibration mic, which was like plug & play. Acram is on a whole different level, a lot of the settings or your settings are done by you, by setting speakers Hz's, then distances, then doing each speakers db level to 75db, just doing that will make a huge difference then just out of the box. But once you learn and understand Diraclive and then perform it and adjust to your liking. you will be amazed again!!!

@@tibitibi1407 Also - this video was done in 5.0.2, I didn't have the subwoofer or Diraclive set up yet, so this was pretty much right out of the box. with the minor adjustments I explained to do manually.

@@chktis Thank you very much !! 3m * 4.5m where the cinema part is !! but the dining room has the same number of partsDirac I know you need to add it because it's very important !!Actually the performance and the rest are the same as the avr 10 !! ??Auro 3D is a little movie… IMAX is the wider angle footage .These are not important in my opinion !!Actually an avr 10 almost in terms of performance and quality as i read it !?

to me the sound quality is amazing with my paradigm speakers. It is the most natural sound I have ever heard. I don't know what you mean by the software? But you basically have to set your speakers up manually with distance & set the speakers to 75db with a spl meter. I am waiting on a microphone to do the Dirac Live setup. But even without the Dirac Live, I love it!!!!

Arcam makes true pure sound - it is amazing!!! Today - I just added a SVS SB1000 Pro, its sound to be a awesome match as well. I am running the subwoofer at neg -25db, so it is set at 77db on my slp meter and every other speaker is set to 75db. With my speaker distances, and Hz settings correct. I am just blown away!!! Either if I am playing music or a movie... Now my system is 5.1.2, I am waiting to get a new amplifier by Emotiva, then it will be 5.1.4, or maybe 7.1.4 since I will free up a Sound Back Channel. The addition you can do are just unlimited with this receiver...

@@antonioantequeracid6005 Well I finally got a Niles 1260 amplifier, I am using it to run all my 11 channels. The Niles is rated at 60wpc to, but the sound and power is stronger and clearer then the arcam amp. Just to let you know.

Hi MrDante10no Thank you, I am running 5.0.2. There is no subwoofer yet. The firmware is up to date. Also I just uploaded another video called - Arcam AVR5 with Surround Sound on. Both video`s are without Dirac life. I don`t have Dirac setup yet, I need to get the microphone for it and etc. Arcam manual on settings - Dolby Audio Processing - Applies Dolby Audio Processing to the incoming audio. Off: (default) Dolby Audio Processing is not applied to this input. Movie: Suitable for movie viewing. Music: Suitable for music listening. Night: Compresses the audio to be more suitable for late night viewing or listening. Both ways with the processing turned on or off. This Arcam just seems rock, from 2 channel or 5 channel and height's on!

Ok, I'll check it later today. With 1 subwoofer it would rock even more, with 2 exact same subwoofers, placed diagonally, I think you would be in heaven. 👌Personally I am running Harman Kardon 5.2.2 system and it sounds great but it is an old receiver with no 4k. Arcam AVR 5 may be my next upgrade. 🙂 PS How did you set distances and levels?

@@MrDante10no I set the speakers with a ruler and distance 1st. Then adjusted each speaker with a slp meter app. Setting each speaker to 75 db. Then from there I just tweaked here and there, till I got the levels and distances that worked for me. Also must set each speaker frequency first. Like 30hz. 60 hz. and etc. (That made a huge difference, I am so use to yapo by Yamaha doing it for me. So this has been a learning curve for me.) Plus the avr5-40. Will be getting a 2.1 hdmi upgrade to. It will be a new board upgrade, not a firmware. Just so you know. I love this receiver!!! It is the smoothest sound I have ever heard. 2 channel and up. I plan on getting a subwoofer soon. Then also a 4 channel emotiva xp amp for my 4 heights. Then bi-amping my front channels. Let me know if you get it and need help? I spent 2k here for it. And I was looking at the RXA8A. But now I will stay with Arcam. It’s just more clear and tighter.
