We don't know for certain. **SPOILERS FOR MAIN STORY CHAPTER 8 BELOW** In chapter 8 of the main story, Jeremiah implies they may be dying... we know their immortality is tied to Philos - aka, they'll live as long as the planet does. The whole reason they left is because the planet is dying, and they need to find an aethercore to fuel the planet instead of using MC. So if the planet is dying, they are too. To me, it would explain Xavier's sleepiness. My theory is they're literally passing away slowly because he was never meant to belong in the "present" timeline.

From Chapter 1 of the main-main story, it appears that somehow the ship was lost in the Deepspace portal. He has been stuck on earth with Jeremiah and a bunch of other Lightseekers for a few hundred years. Allegedly. Assuming the myth is true and not just a fun-side-AU that the developers made for content that has nothing to do with the main story...

Well he does say he will return in his trailer. The 200 years that he was gone, he was trapped on earth. Then he leaves mc alone again to travel in time to go back one more time. He stays 14 years this time. That’s why in the trailer he says it’s his 214 th spring on earth and his last. He’s going back to Philos. That would also mean he is keeping his promise since technically he’s going back in spring right? With spring arrives hope. He will stay by her side and maybe even take her to Uluru🥲I’d love that ending to be honest…

⁠@@MonkeyDLuffy-xy5oj(OP here sorry this is my alt) We don't know anything quite for sure. For all we know it's his last because he is dying. From the current canon it's pretty clear he has no intention of going back to Philos because he sees no distinction between that future version of her and the "current" (aka past) version of her we play in the game. Since they're the same person, by staying with her, he IS keeping his promise. I guess we'll all have to see.

@@alfredoakalilsavage1661They explain in chapter 1 of the main lore. They crashed through a worm hole and have no way of going back. Besides, now that he's found her and since he knows they're the same person, he's content just to stay with her. We don't know anything for sure though. Chapter 1 explains that they're all in a time loop, so something else is going on that we just don't know yet, so we'll just have to keep playing to find out.

The myth is supposedly in the "future" and I guess the Backtrackers have been stuck in the past?? Girl my brain is messed up, so hard to piece it all together.

@@LightseekingObsession How do you know it’s supposedly in the future? I thought Philos was that alhpa P1101 or something, the planet that died according to the news in Linkon. I know gurl, it’s so hard to piece everything together. We need to wait for more releases! ❤️

@@Hana_velySo they're drawing on a little bit of real science and the way light travels. We can actually see light from stars from a million years in the future that have actually already died (this isn't a made up fact it's real astronomy whoo!) So the light they're seeing from Philos as a "star" is actually just because the light took hundreds of years or whatever to reach earth, despite the fact that Philos is already "dead." Philos itself was created out of necessity, due to earth's destruction. Humanity moved to Philos because the homeworld had died. We know this from piecing together the anecdotes and main story. Humans, being so deeply connected to Philos, will only last as long as the planet does. Because Philos is "dying" they need a new core. Xavier's backtrackers discovered a pinpoint in the past where they can obtain whatever that is? Therefore they had to go back in time to obtain it. We know from Ch. 1 of the main story though that this goes south and they end to trapped on earth for centuries. In the main story they're testing to send signals though the wormhole to the future.

@@LightseekingObsession Ohhh I get it now. Yeah that’s true that time is relative, so your theory makes sense! I didn’t finish ch 8 yet, but I saw vids on yt. If you recall at the end there’s another expedition team, Traceback II, do you know who they are?
