Ender 3 vinyl cutter/pen plotter tutorial
Просмотров 28 тыс.3 года назад
www.thingiverse.com/thing:4672861 This is my design of a clip on mount for a plotter pen or a dragknife/vinyl cutter. Its in three parts and just clip on to the metall hot end fancover. Its was designed for the Creality Ender 3 Pro, and I have tested the fitment to two different printers. But it will allso fit on the Ender 5 and the CR-10 or any others that have the same hot end and fancover de...

Was thinking about giving this another shot after giving up a few years ago, did a RUclips search and boom, a 3y old video that’s still the only one I’ve seen mount the cutter to the FRONT so you don’t have to mess up your BLTouch/nozzle calibration. THANK YOU.
Fin video. Jag minns den gamla bron som var smalare. Bilar kunde inte mötas utan man fick vänta tills mötande bil hade kört över bron
thanks for the video, im just thinking in bough my own 3d printer and make this to use ir as vinyl cutter, may be can we talk? it works to make a láser marker?
Great idea. I want to know more about the cutter attachment.
I am on a Mac system. What else can I use instead of Creality Workshop?
Bro you run windows on mac 😂
Uuuuuuuuuuummmmmmm
When I first ' auto home ' my printer before printing the file, It starts at the right place. But when finished and I print again. The image is shifted half from the bed at the left.. I checked and G28 is in the file (what is auto home) and when started the file this is wat it indeed does first. But for some reason, It acts not like auto home from my printer !? So for now I have to auto home the printer manually before every print. any idea for an solution?
Thanks for the tutorial!
I got a drag knife to convert my cnc but decided to try my ender 3 pro as I had the glass bed, you sir are a genius and God among men. Super easy workflow with the method once its dialed in, I can rip out decals now without having to spend alot of time in cam
You can make your object or text a vector, load it into blender, make it .5 mm height, export it as an stl, and just turn off all heating and cooling. be sure to use z offset when switching to a different line
This is the BEST process I have found yet. Thank you Emeduza! I made my own knife mount (E3 v2) with a spring loaded blade pressure screw built in (easier adjustment on the fly). Also I use a self healing mat to protect the bed (jury still out on that idea). I have done a successful cut in vinyl and I also did an almost successful through-cut on gasket material (I cut an engine gasket). I have to figure out a way to get the cutting to happen in the center of the bed, because it is hard to secure cut material to the front corner. I only found this video late last night, so that's the goal today.
Hey, can you send me your files for E3 v2? I've some problem with mine
If possible please send it to me to.
@@jerxjac i've finally made mine and put it cults3d
@@antho4.40 how can I find it on cults3d?
Hello, the video is very interesting, I have a concern about the printer, how it behaves when giving it the order to cut, that is, filament comes out and how it does to stop the output of said filament, thanks
Hi. When the printer is cutting/drawing the pattern due to the gcode of your file, it never sends a command to the extruder to push out any filament. This is because the code is simply not present in the generated gcode (also no code to switch on your nozzle and bed heaters). There are only commands for the head to move side to side (X Axis) and forwards and backwards (Y Axis). When the cutter/pencil has to move over areas where a cut or line is not required it simply raises into the air (Z Axis) by a few millimeters. I hope this explanation makes sense. Kind regards.
How do you edit the bltouch setting?
Thanks! I appreciate the time and effort you put in. I learned a lot!
You sir are a fucking genius! I've been trying to find something for my laser engraver to do this, but I also happen to have an Ender 3 printer! Thank you for this!!
Thank you! Yes the software and some of the tutorial should also apply to the laser.
@@Emeduza You are welcome.
couldn't you flip the image before cutting it then apply it directly from the vinyl backing without the need for the painters tape?
The adhesive is on the back of the vinyl.
@@bigchrisrogers oh ok I thought it just stuck with It adhesive ,some vinyl just clings to smooth surfaces
Nice video.Thank you
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Lol I couldn't watch the video for that reason it was driving me mad, pity though might have been a good video but ill never know
Ikke gøy
Brilliant mod. Got the plotting working last night. Need to try the cutter. Is this your design as I am a bit crap at cad and would love a coloured pencil add on (either using a rubber band or not). Cheers
Nice idea
Vert nice job thanks man
cool stuff thanks but aaaaaaaam may you want to change the audio tranck?
May I ask what device that is you're using to level your bed?
Its a Bl-touch.
@@Emeduza thank you!
Thanks a lot ! 😌
Thank you very much! Very helpful video. Do you think this is capable of cutting some very small letters?
Not to small. The limit is around the size of the letters in the tutorial video.
@@Emeduza which blade did you use? the 30 60 or 45 degree? have you also tried something like the cricut rotary blade / housing I wonder if it would work better and if it could cut fabrics like thin felt with the regular vinyl cutter or with the rotary blade
Wow, first time seing a cutter plotter mod in a ender 3. I will try it
Hello! Nice work and Nice Desig! Your software is official marlin from Creality¿? Or you have a personalized Marlin? I need some help for my printer.
Thanks! Yes, its Marlin. I have compiled it myself to use with my SKR E3 Mini 1.2 mainboard with Bl-touch, but it should be the same prosedure for the OEM board.
@@Emeduza Hi! thanks for your request and sorry for my bad english. I have a Marilin compirled too it myself the version of Marlin is 2.0.53 for SKR1.4 Turbo I have two problems: One: My cutter is this es.aliexpress.com/item/32768955648.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.274263c04eqMVz It fits perfectly in your design, although I think it is shorter than yours. I think that one of the problems is that, since the cutter is above the nozzle, I have made a quick fix, so that it is below the nozzle, although I think it should be at the same height, correct? Two: In its settings, for start and end, if I use them the printer uses the reverse axes and does not attend to the endstop. Could the marlin settings be different? If I can tomorrow I'll record a video, I would like to make everything work correctly. And one suggestion: In the fanmount piece I think it would be good to add a triangular reinforcement to the grip flange, since it has a high probability of breaking. Thanks for all and good work!
@@DesingHacks Yes, you have a different cutter than mine. Maybe that is why the cutter is above the nozzle. It should be around 2mm lower than your nozzle Did you print the lowest mount? There are two. One is 5mm lower than the other. I dont know why it would go reversed. Maybe its somerhing different on the SKR turbo board since its not made specific to the Ender 3. I may change the flange so it doesnt brake that easy.
Maybe I could clarify something about the axis. In the Creality Workshop software the home point is in the top left corner. So if you place your design there. It will print in the front left corner on your printer. I guess that would be a little confusing. Dont know why they have done it this way.
@@Emeduza Sure!!!! I'm really stupid Hahaha I haven't changed the layout to another corner to see if the working axis changed *facepalm* Tomorrow I will review the software issues and when I have a clear idea I will write to you. Thanks a lot!
