I had a sponsee who said to me you would drink too if you had my problems. and i repeated exactly what was said to me : well, if I drank like you i would have your problems. hevwas 100% right in my case. worked 11p-7a for 39 years and though my poor sleeping was due to shift work but sleep got better as i grew in sobriety. dont give up its not a quick fix. been at it 33 years and plenty of room for improvement.

You have to hate alcohol like me to be free. Be honest with yourself. I always still liked a nice mellow 3 drink buzz but not really liked being to drunk. I never hated it. That was my fault. Also I believed I was powerless and had to have a power greater than myself to keep me sober....over 10 yrs of relapsing to finally hate it. I'll never relapse again. For one I'll just drink it I want. Which I never want not even miss a tiny bit when a old song comes on I used to get drunk and remember liking the music more. Never. Almost 5 or 6 yrs I'm not even gonna worry about the days. There not important. I hate alcohol. And am definitely not a alcoholic for life. I don't drink and that's about it. I hope u can get ahold of your relationship with alcohol and yourself. Hang in there AA is not the only way. Keep doing what works I guess. But u shouldn't be craving it or anything like temptations. Not if AA works and there's a higher power out there. I would of been sober after my first sponsor told me to pray about it .. Good luck

@@andyparrish1933 I don't say AA is the only way. I had an uncle who did it on his own and was sober until his death. AA has worked for me these many years so I don't feel a need to change. Joe

I understand thst. my youngest brother, 14 years my junior, couldn't get it and died On Feb 5, 2023. he was drunk, fell, hit his head and froze to death. so i do This in hope no one else has to go through a death like that.

@joegilbody4878 the most important thing is that you are willing to make positive changes in your life. Sad to hear about your brother. Must have been a scary way to go.

I know!! I get up at 5am and let him on screened porch he loves seeing animals awake.

To a certain extent putting alcohol and ones need for it ahead of family and other obligations is definitely self centered.

@anncartwright2339 thanks. He is. I got him from a no kill shelter Nov 21, 2021. He was born in the shelter. He was born 6/1/21 so he is 3. Looks like he has some Russian Blue in him.

Oh yeah. he has schedule 20 hours sleep. 4 hours awake and getting into trouble. 3 years old.

@@michaelkalin4436 I just put up the awnings after hurricane Debby so he had to inspect everything. The ashes are those of his predecessor. I got Tobey from no kill shelter at age 4 months. He had never lived outside shelter. Born 6/1/21 so he's still young. He spends days on porch but today was very hot. Thanks for mail.
