If you have no idea what Viscosity is check out this video !
complicated explanation
Always try to use Synthetic Oil especially where the weather is hot. 0-25K KM : 0W30/5W30 25K-100K: 5W/30 100K+ KM: 10W30/10W40 untill your car started reducing oil on every change of oil. If the guage show a bit decline in oil then start using 15W50/20W50.
The only usable oil for those which care about own engines are 0w40 for siberia, alaska and norway, then 5w50 or 10w60 for the rest of the world. Those 0w20 are specifically made for consumerist-globalist policies and for make you buy "newer car" after guarantee expires. You have to be absolute mental retarded, a non-brainer monkey .. to put in your engine 0w20 because that said car manufacturer 😂
There's is ILSAC standards as well and the SAPS level as C1- C5 and it is confusing
Brilliant explanation - thankyou
very informative, thanks
A 15w** can be used at -20C? Good luck with that ...😅
If you wait for the oil light to come on, it's pretty much too late already 😂
The manual of my Suzuki Grand Vitara recommends the use of 5W30. Nevertheless, the very same user's manual provides a table with temperature ranges coverage of different types of engine oils. Therefore, I assume the real recommendation of the user manual is to choose an oil in accordance to your particular environment. For instance, I do live in Barcelona, where temperatures go from -5 to +40 degrees Celsius. So I understand it is for me better to choose a 10W40 oil (range between -20 and 40 degrees) than the 5W30 oil (range between -30 and 30 degrees) recommended in more general terms. Am I right?
Hmmm..? "-35 C never occures in Europe.."? Europe is actually a bit more/larger than France ...🧐 & Includes areas in the north where a winter temperature of -35 C is not all that unusual.. The last couple of days it has eaven been down to -43,5 C in parts of northern Sweden, which is very much part of Europe..🧐
Every corporate oil guy screams only 0000000 oil! Even old 2000 high mile cars. Oil rings spraying oil into piston to burn. Stupid engine destroying green mandates!!!!!! All free thinking maintenance persons of high IQ run a slightly heavier oil and increase viscocity according to ambient temp driving as well as 100000 mileage usage. We old maintenence people never blow engines. We do not burn oil much at all. 250000 miles and clean driveways too. Experience rules if we are not stealership conned.
Best explanation video! 👍 So many people don't know that the biggest engine wear occurs on cold starts, so it is super important to choose a low winter "W" viscosity oil (0W or 5W) even here in Europe, and especially with Diesel engines. 👀
Thanks for the video. I have a 2016 LR discovery 4 sdv6, In cold start the oil pressure light comes on for like 2-3 seconds then goes off also there is a tapping sound same time. Any suggestions on this issue What oil should I use ? Currently on 5w30 castrol. Thanks Sahan
so at 2:50 the 0W oil is the more expensive one?
Hello 👋 dear I have a question ❔ please Im living in iraq 🇮🇶 and I have scooter 125 cc Yamaha. Please answer my question. I use a scooter RAYZR125... I live in Iraq. I found that the manufacturer made recommendations to use viscosity oil 10w40. And here the weather is very hot. Is it useful to use this oil in temperatures up to 50 c ?
You don't have to change oils to different grades during different parts of the year you can use the same oil y'all year-round I usually they're 5W20 or 0w20 all year round I have never have any problem
Reference By ???
Every oil is different difects the best safer side use for cars over 5 years sae full synthetic oil high mileage , if you lived in high heat areas an oil is recommended 10-30 , use half 5-20 or just 20 0-20 for winter use 10-40 , or 15-40 , if is is 0w 20 then you use 0w-20 half the other half 5w-30 , never overfilled oil capacity ,
At the start of the video you mention the oil warning light ... on most cars ( should it come on ) a lot of damage has already been done ! ... so .... check your oil levels regularly , a MUST on older models ... if it comes on when the level is correct ( after a long hot drive ? ) , your oil pump MUST be replaced immediately ! .... but in this event a handy ( get you home trick ) is to put a SMALL amount of ( VERY thick ) gear oil ( SAE 80 / 90 / 140 ) into the engine , this will cancel the light and enable you to get to your dealer ( or motor parts department ) ... a ( tried - n - tested ) remedy .......... DAVE™ ................
It's pretty easy. Open the Owner's Manual and use the correct grade and quality recommended by the people who produced the vehicle. Close the manual = Done.
u got Walter white on ur logo
Such an easy explanation makes good to understand 🙏
Very good demonstration,, I have a question I live in area temp reaches 50 c in summer and 35 c in winter I recently purchased volkswagen tiguan 1.4 tsi , label for oil on it recommend using sae 0w20 vw508 ,vw509 specifications So , is it suitable for this weather , or I should use thicker oil like , 0w30 ...or 5w30 ,,,5w40 ? Thank you hope you answer me
If your oil light comes on, you will not make it to the next services.
Great Explanation! Clear and easy to understand
of course he used butter as an example. of course
I'm in Canada in Alberta where minus 30° c and -40 happens if you're driving a diesel engine or a gasoline engine is it safe to use a 0w30 In gas or 0w 40 in the diesel year round
This is the best video
manufacturer specification is for all planet and most cases (or average) but IT IS NOT specific for your particular case, your particular case may prefer different grade!
Good one
Please tell me the difference between a 10w40 and a 10w-40 ????? Iam seeking this answer like hell ??? I myself know a little but not sure!
Both are the same. Some write it 10W40 and some write it as 10W-40(It is not 10Wminus40)..
Nice video. But, how is the viscosity index cacluated from a Temperature vs. Viscosity Chart?
I try 5w-40 and I am going back to 5w-30. I see the difference now
Why what's happen ?
@@ahmedhussein522 louder noise of the 220 cdi Mercedes engine, slower shifting of the automatic. 5w-30 much better oil for this engine, faster shifting
What is the best oil for dohc 16 valve
Simply, you should follow the number oil on the engine cover
Yep, it's really just that simple.
Thank You
Aye cooorl carrr man!! What is a Ferrari !! Maybes bmw I dunno
Just use the viscosity your dealer says or look at your oil filler cap.if your vehicle starts to leak a bit or use oil start using high mileage oil. The chemical in the oil reconditions the seals inside the engines
You couldn't be more wrong. That 5w20 on your cap is being forced by our corrupt government as a Cafe' standard for mpg. This video also proves your comment a mistake.
That was a great video!!!!!!! Thanks
Amazingly Explained 👍👍👍
That light is oil pressure light, not level.
I used only 10w30 Pennzoil all my vehicles from 0 miles to over 200,000 miles never a issue . From heavy duty trucks to corvettes out side temps from 26 degrees to 110 degrees . For years last truck was 16 years had it from new , work truck at that. oil changed every 3000 -4000 miles and filter. Sea Form and Pennzoil for years all with never a engine issue or burning oils , I don’t race though , if I did I would use then 5W 30 and change out way sooner ,that my ingredients for the “ Cake By The Ocean”
my owners manual and the engine oil cap itself for my TGDI says to use 0w-30.. but you most certainly wouldn't use 0w-30 on a track would you?
not unless you want the engine to die way sooner then it needs too
No. Race cars use thicker oil because of the heat
Yaris uses 5w30 if i put 15w40 would i do damage
Not if you live in Death Valley.
Sir ji 5x40 suv protection Castrol engin oil suitable in petrol swift 2015
Very knowledgeable recommendation for changing oil of the car. Thank you
The best oil I use is Amsoil. Do the research. tacsmotors.myamsoil.com/
My country is too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter and my car manual the recommended oil is 5w-30, 10w,40 and 15w-50. Can i use the all range oil 5w-40 or 5w-50?
Use a viscosity chart online and use the oil that works best for the time of season. If it's really cold for months, use a 0w20 for those months, then when it's constantly hot use a 15w50 or what ever fits that temp...In either case, any full synthetic will offer the best protection. This guys video agrees with my statement.
I see that the acea nad api specs are not important
What makes you say that? API does matter, most gas cars need the SN license, diesel oil has too much zddp or zinc and supposedly will clog your catalytic converter.
0:50 Sir you're pointing at a frunk.
