It’s pretty easy to disconnect the starting coil so the engine cranks and doesn’t start. I’m also not sure how I feel about how liberal you were with the fogging oil. It will still be there when you crank again. Oil won’t compress. Maybe I’m just being over paranoid but just spraying in the carb should be enough. May be worth flushing with antifreeze before re inserting drain plugs then fill.
Thanks for the vid in wiring one up in my barn here on this rainy day in Florida. Set up a bunch of lights for night fishing but need to be charging the battery
As a marine tech, this video was hard to watch.
You need to check and make sure you are not overcharging the battery when running at throttle, what they call regulators are actually only a rectifier whoch converts ac to Dc current and will throw out over 16v 1/4 throttle to full out. You meed to make sure that it is actually a regulator so you dont overcharge
not sure why you put antifreeze in it, if no water inside it can not freeze. waste of time folks that isn't necessary plus no need to remove prop. Please make sure you keep the outdrive completely down over the winter so not to damage the rubber bellows
It seems to me that boat owners in general have more money than they know what to do with, and little to no mechanical or specific engine knowledge. You don't just replace parts because they have some surface rust and it's "only $25". How do electrical connections become undone like that, that baffles me. Was there a nut holding that loop on? You don't even seem to address that. It's like the blind leading the blind over here.
Not a pocket knife jk
Poor engine. Why start it at full throttle like that?
Merci beaucoup ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you very much for your help.. I have another engine. evinrude etech 30 hp coils are not receiving energy. We tried 3 ECUs. It is a steering system, but it is not connected to the steering wheel at the moment, we are just connecting the cables to the battery and trying it. They say it will not work without connecting the ignition key. Hello, good day my friend..
Thanks for showing us how you did it! Very neat. Have you used it out on the water yet with your fish finder? How fast does it charge your battery? Does it work well enough to power your fish finder?
Hi sir, do you have how to wiring this item for Yamaha E60HP Outboard?
nice! much appreciated for straight to the point!
It's 40 dollars now with inflation haha
The grounds are actually your most important connections. They will always be the first to go and cause problems
The reason it’s tacky is that the acetone is melting the vinyl and bring the new to the surface. Mineral spirits will work better as it also adds a little oil to the vinyl. I learned this from a old classic car guy.
I picked up a 1987 Skeeter Starfire 175 18 ft with EZ loader trailer. Came with 2000 Johnson Fast Strike V6 two stoke 175HP and does 64MPH. I live in Canada and spent $1250CND for the whole deal even has factory tarp.
I wouldn't take the ski break off. Just rubber band the break up. Once that screw comes out you open up the core to moisture unless you reseal it, which is a waste of time and risk. Just leave the break in and tie it up.
Are the drains plugs on my 3.0 the same size
I have a question for you. I have the same boat, but it's a two thousand and for my blower is not working What wires control the blower?
Excellent. Thanks!
Petro - tks for that video. I am owning a `93 Bayliner with that 3 ltr engine. (just bought) . So - this vid is just good for my "oldie". By the way: did you got this pocket knife for Christmas?? Otherwise you would not come to that funny idea to fix the boat only with that tool :-) Regards from Germany Jörg
Thanks, Your boat looks to be in very nice condition. Stored for 8 months??!! Talk about a short boating season.
Thanks for the video man. Im no mechanic but work on everything myself and this was a big help!
Looks great, appreciate the time it took to show us. Look into getting a nice aftermarket grill & headlights for the nice bumper 👍
Great, simple video. Loved the narration, was easier to focus unlike other videos
Great video!!!! Thanks for detailed explanations and the recap.
Really useful video. Thanks for documenting so well. And good job on saving the motor!
Do you keep the antifreeze in engine block or drain it. Ive been told to drain it because anti freeze that is 50/50 will still freeze. Im asking because we get -20 temps in connecticut,What do you do?
im getting ready to do mine. I will be pouring anti freeze down the hoses and the drain the manifold
@kingmast1 thank you that's what I did.
Hi! Love the video and was wondering if you could let me know where you got all the aluminum framing from? I have the same boat and I’m looking to do this exact setup if possible? Thank you!
Hi, thanks for watching. I purchased everything at Home Depot. Only thing I would recommend differently, is you might want to buy marine grade plywood if you plan to keep the boat for a long time.
Hey! You got some great videos there and I really love them! Would you be interested in working with us? I have this amazing auto parts for your Car that I want to show you. You would be amazed by the price and the high quality it has to offer! We could send you a couple samples for free, I hope it is possible for you to make a video that demonstrates only our products and installation and update the video to Amazon. I believe its extraordinary quality would get you more fans. It will be a win-win. Please let me know what you think. I appreciate your valuable time!
Hello. Good morning. I have a Johnson 10 HP motor and i need just two parts for it. This is the model and serial number. Model# SJ10RPLH Ser.# G 03766761 (USA) This model is made between 1993 and 1997 I need for this motor: AC charge coil. power pack. I hope and wish to hear from you soon. Always Mr. Rene
Great video thanks do you use gas stabilizer as well?
In the 80s when that boat was built, most bass anglers used the big satchel type boxes and big drawer boxes, that's the reason for the open floor plan. As anglers began using the 3600 and 3700 Stowaway boxes, boats began being built with more lockable storage compartments and built in coolers.
Hi this propeller fit mercruiser 3.0 tks 135hp alpha one gen2? Can you give a ebay link?
how did you stray h it to the battery
attatch
just jam it between the clamp and post for a normal battery clamp
This is what I give to my customers when returning all of their boat interior: How To Clean Vinyl Boat Seats & Upholstery Marine grade vinyl is designed to endure harsh marine conditions, but without proper care and maintenance they will break down much faster. The best way to prolong the look, feel, and longevity of boat seats and other upholstered items is to keep them clean, dry, and out of the long exposure to the sun. Regular application of a UV inhibitor such is highly recommended. Routine Cleaning • Hose off or remove any large dirt deposits, leaves, etc. • Make a solution of mild soap and water (¼ cup liquid soap to 1 gallon fresh, clean water) • Using a clean rag, sponge, or very soft bristle brush, wash upholstery as normal. Try to avoid pooling water into the seams, as this leads to water soaking into the foam and will result in mold • Rinse the soap solution off the vinyl using fresh clean water with a light fan spray • Wipe the vinyl dry with a soft, clean towel. Allow to sit in the sun if possible to assure complete drying Deep Cleaning • When thoroughly dry, apply a vinyl cleaner, such as 303 Fabric & Vinyl Cleaner, and rub into the vinyl with a soft clean cloth or soft bristled brush. It may seem redundant to clean with mild soap first but that step is necessary to remove sunscreen, sweat residue, dirt and particles so the vinyl cleaner will penetrate the vinyl uninhibited. • Remove excess cleaner with a soft cloth. UV Protection (highly recommended) • Use 303 Areospace Protectant. Spray on vinyl completely wetting the surface. • Using a soft, dry cloth, wipe until the vinyl is dry. Be sure to absorb all excess protectant by wiping and polishing until completely dry. This will provide a finish coating that repels stains and provides UV protection. • Apply every 3 to 5 weeks for maximum UV protection, if the boat is used with great frequency or is left uncovered in the weather • Highly recommended to prolong the life of your boat seats and marine upholstery. Follow label directions. Mold Stains & Full Renewal • Magic Eraser often works quite well at removing stains from the surface of marine vinyl, but use of this product will remove the protective coating on the vinyl and will expedite the decay process as it is a micro-fine polisher. I highly recommend to AVOID the use of Magic Eraser products. • Mix a solution of IOSSO Mold & Mildew Stain Remover, Star-Brite mildew remover (or similar product) per instructions. • Wet the area with the mixture then let soak for about 5-10 min. • Scrub the area with a sponge or soft cloth. For stubborn stains, add ¼ cup Clorox bleach to the soap/water mixture. Having the vinyl warm from the sun may help in removing stubborn stains. Spot treatment of staining may be done with spray Clorox Clean-Up. Make sure if sprayed on stitched areas that they are rinsed well with fresh, clean water. • Grease, petroleum, or oil based stains can be removed with Goo Gone (citrus based cleaner)…DO NOT use Goof Off, which is an acetone/zylene based cleaner! Do • Use mild and specialized cleaners such as - Dreft Laundry Soap, IOSSO Stain Remover, Star-Brite cleaner, 303 Fabric & Vinyl Cleaner, 303 Aerospace Protectant. • Apply a UV inhibitor regularly to prolong the life and look of your marine vinyl upholstery • Clean thoroughly after using the boat. Sweat, sunscreen, and dirt are the major enemies of your interior. The simplest and easiest way to protect your interior during use is to place beach towels or other coverings on the seats while using them. Preventative maintenance is always easier than repair or replacement. Note: Nothing will clean Sharpie marker and ink stains off of vinyl boat seats and upholstery with any true effectiveness. When the ink penetrates into the vinyl it cannot be removed. The mark may be dulled in color and become a little bit less noticeable by using a solvent but the solvent will permanently damage the vinyl in the process. The only way to fix it is to replace the affected panel in the upholstery Do Not • Do not use harsh cleansers such as- Ammonia, Windex, Simple Green, etc., - while most of these won’t immediately effect the appearance, they slowly break down the vinyl reducing its lifespan. • Use a Magic Eraser to remove stains. • Use excessive amounts of bleach, especially pool bleach (chlorine), which is 10x the strength of household bleach
Really appreciate you sharing this! I’m just a DIYer and enjoy sharing what has worked for me. The boats I work on are old and beyond their normal life span. Last resort before replacement. I appreciate your help and advice. Thanks for watching.
Why would you replace a spark plug every year? Do you do that with a car? These engines don’t have that much wear and tear. Really a boat is mostly at idle and not very many hours each season. Good recommendations and walk through however.
I do plugs every year 🤷🏻♂️
Helpful video. Thanks. Isn't there any concern about overcharging?
Thanks for watching. I have had no issues with over charging. I run a small fish finder 100% of the time and an occasional bilge pump and lights. I also use a bow mounted trolling motor for fishing (on a separate battery), so the outboard is only running a few hours when I’m out all day. Between the low outboard usage and constant draw from the fish finder, the balance works really well. I never have a dead battery and it’s been running that way for a few seasons with no issues.
You’re eating a layer off each time you do this and that’s way it feels tacky. I’d use this as a last resort and not a normal cleaning
Nicely done!!
I have the same boat in back and blue. I do a lot of metal fabrications stuff and I went ham and welded a whole aluminum frame together and made lids that match all the rest of the factory ones 😅 yours would work about the same and took a lot less time ha love it for a small bass boat!
Send a link or photos. Where can I see your work? Show it off man! I have a Skeeter 175D, about to go through with it
Have you installed the right one yet? I'm looking to buy that same one for the gmc sierra
I have, but a little behind on uploading the video. Should be in about 2 weeks or so. The biggest difference will be walking through the window washer tank. All went well, but it takes time. Most difficult part was getting the new bumper to align and look even. Need to be patient with it. The bumper was also about 1” lower than the lights and grill. It looks fine, but I wish it was tight. Another watcher suggested using the Chevy bumper and custom cutting the original bumper cap. I think that would have worked nicely.
Thank you so much 👍🏻
Why not just trim the upper plastic part? I think this bumper with the plastic trimmed would look better than the bumper from RC that’s meant for the gmc
Good eye! I thought about that while I was waiting for the replacement to come. I often just make things work, but had the idea to try not to hack it up. That being said, the correct bumper ended up having a 1” gap, so I’m thing I should have gone the way you suggested. The correct bumper is on and final video coming soon. Thanks for watching!
That stinks! I welded one for my Chevy instead of buying and it fit perfect. I considered the same bumper for my gmc but I didn’t like the top part of it, and considered just trimming the plastic to fit the chevy one. I was hoping that was what you did here when I came across your video lol. Send it back if it doesn’t fit. Rough county has great customer service from my experience.
All that work and that osb won’t last very long. I always wonder why go so far to make things look nice and half ass the most important part. At least coat the osb in resin.
Lol " using only my pocket knife." Precedes to pull his boat out with his truck. 😉
have you ever changed the throttle and shift cables ?
Aww its smiling at the end
Ten lashes with a wet noodle for not greasing the prop shaft splines.
Where did you get the locks/latches for the lids? My older boat has those and some are broke and I’ve been looking for some new ones
