Snowmobiling Ontario trails from Orillia to Midland!
This was a solo ride on Dec 22 from Orillia to past Midland on B05C, C, and 303. It was a cold day at close to -18 Celsius before tue wind chill so my face was slightly frozen trying to talk at the beginning haha. Sorry about that and the briefness.
Conditions were a mixed bag. Some spots were great and others very bare with rocky, grassy sections. Or was nice to get out none the less but definitely could have been better.
Enjoy the ride. I only recorded 3/4 of one direction due to the cold and going through 3 batteries in about 2 hrs.

Buddies new Polaris Assault on icy cold conditions
Просмотров 5 тыс.День назад
Today was a freezing cold day at -28 celsius after a a few days of rain and warm temps. We weren't sure how the trails were going to be but wanted to check it out anyways and brave the cold. New carbides were put on the night before and we learned that the 1 ski was SUPER worn down as well so we weren't too sure how it was going to handle. The trails were passable but not the greatest. We found...

So today we are doing something a little different. I headed over to Rickwards Polaris to see my friend Nunzio who is a Polaris Ambassador to learn a bit more about clutching and suspension set up with some of the best out there, Velocity Sled Performance. This was my first time heading over to Rickwards cause it's about 30 min further away than some of the other dealers around me. From now on ...

First time in Calabogie

Calabogie was unreal! What an awesome spot to go riding at. Myself and a group of 20 other of my friends all stayed Calabogies Waterfront Camping and Trailer Park for Labour day weekend. Most of them hit the trails in their Jeeps but Adrian and myself went out on our bikes. O e day we did the same trail they ran in the jeeps and the next we found this amazing technical single track trail with t...

Well it's been a while, but I have made another video finally. I went down to Barrie area and hit up Orr Lake with a new group of ridding buddies. I have been friends with Adrian (@aloneacrosscanada) and he introduced me to the group he rides with on a regular basis. Colin, Adam and Amanda were all awesome peeps and great to ride with. I'm sure you will see them in some other vids in the future...

I decided to make a trip down to Florida to visit my parents and one of the things I wanted to do is drive on the beach! I've always wanted to do this so... here we are! Driving down this beautiful beach in Saint Augustine called Butler Beach. It's a pretty cool experience, the sand is SUPER soft and feels like baby powder hahah. Cool experience, if I lived there, I would always be driving to t...

Well... today is the big day that started out with a super crappy drive to Ottawa, ON, Canada. I was asked if I wanted to push it off due to the winter storm we were getting the night before and still trailing along. Normal drive is a 3h 45 min and I was expecting to be a lot longer. In this vid I bring you along for a beautiful winter drive and scenery, see the guys at Wheelsport, do a reveal ...

Hello again, as promised in my last vid I have been working away at another vid for you to enjoy. This time we had hi up Tall Pines alt rail system in Dorset. It was family day weekend so a little while ago. We were actually there right around the time the @MuskokaFreerider was back in Ontario. This was the best snow we had all year here in Ontario and this has become one of my favorite places ...

Day 1 - Testing the Sled and learning to video edit
Nice video. That’s my favourite day trip ride. We drive up early, park in Barrie/Midhurst, ride b112b to orillia, then to coldwater, midland, back to Midhurst, then drive 2 hours back home. Occasionally add in coldwater to bala for lunch, then back to coldwater and continue on
That sounds like a great day trip! Glad you enjoyed the vid!
Get a mic and add commentary please!!
It’s coming, please be patient.
If we don't get snow in Sudbury soon... that's the exact route I'll be doing with my buddy in the next couple of weeks. Imagine that....going South to go sledding. Grrrrr
Ya that’s pretty wild. We haven’t gotten any snow in Haliburton for weeks now either. Just cold. I’ll be heading south to that area again this weekend since there are finally some green trails and a lot more open. We are supposed to start getting snow though starting tomorrow for a few days so hopefully more opens up. Fingers crossed for you getting snow!
Sell that Marlon ramp and buy a black scorpion one they are made by port hope
What’s the advantage of the black scorpion one. That Marlon was bought used for $600 and is in pretty mint shape.
@ the length, it makes loading very easy in comparison. It also has way bigger wheels so it rolls in & out of the truck with ease My dad had the Marlon one and in comparison well there wasn’t one! The black scorpion one was better in every way
@ awesome! Good to know. Thanks
Do have ice scratchers on your snowmobile?
Yes I do. I have Kimpex scratchers on mine. My buddy didn’t that day though so was running quite hot.
@HaliburtonTrailrider i figured you must have had them to run so much cooler. I run kimpex scratchers too
Watching the pair of you trying to load that sled was too funny. Do you two live in the city and just think it looks cool to be snowmobilers ?
lol no we don’t live in the city. Just never used one of those ramps before and it’s pretty steep. First time for everything
@ They can be tricky. I built my own, slightly different, same idea. Play safe.
Get a trailer for ficks sake
The worst damage that I have ever done to a sled was done while trying to put it in my truck bed. New sleds are to long.
Will it be OK by Saturday?
what are you using for a camera?
I am using an insta360
Nice getting out before all this rain coming. Great camera angles.
You have to export videos at a higher bitrate. 100 or higher to have them look better on RUclips.
Thank you for that advise! Much appreciated! I will see what I can do to make that happen.
@ No problem, that view from behind is awesome. I’ve been thinking about getting the 360 X4. instead of the GoPro. It’s awesome how you can capture every angle.
@ it is pretty awesome. It takes a long time to go through everything after though lol. I do wish the zoom on the X3 was better though. Also even though I shoot in 4k 60 for some reason the editing program moves it to 4k 30 and I can’t figure out how to change that.
@@HaliburtonTrailriderNew 360 X4 has better zoom because it has 8k. You can crop in closer. Yeah, the editing takes longer with 360 for sure but man it sure is nice that it captures every angle.
Some trails are quite narrow at Haliburton Forest so you always have to be extra careful to ride your side. Seen some bad accidents.
I always try to stay on the correct side of the trails for that reason. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Unfortunately, like on main trails as well people still like to cut corners and hug blind corners when they should be on the outside, like in this vid. They almost took out my friend in the lead and over corrected to just off the trail.
The trails look good.
They were amazing that day!
Looks like a beauty day. Was it this year?
Yes that was this year right before the warm spell last week
Well at the speeds your going hope a moose dosent step out in front of you. You would be toast. Speaking from an old bastards thoughts.
Speeds look substantially faster on a fish eye lens than what I’m actually going. 95% of the time I’m cruising pretty close the speed limit actually.
@@HaliburtonTrailrider Didnt no that
@@dog_guy-m6b ya my avg speed based on my gps is 55kph. Straight away where you can see far in the distance it’s fun to step it up for a sec but then it’s back to normal pace pretty quickly
The trails look good. I've never been to Haliburton forest but I'm thinking about trying to go in the next two weeks. What is the speed limits on their trails?
That’s a good question actually. I haven’t noticed a posted speed limit but I will look tomorrow when I am back there
The speed limit is 50 same as everywhere else. Camera makes it look a lot faster though unfortunately.
@@HaliburtonTrailrider I never really go the speed limit 🤫
I have be snowmobiler for over 40 years, leave the key in the sled, every thief knows you don't need them, so you aren't protecting anything by taking it out.
For me its piece of mind a bit I guess, and my tether is attached to the key too when its parked
@HaliburtonTrailrider I am more concerned about about 50km from home, 2 ft if snow and missing key than theft. My friend had 3 snowmobiles, trailer and truck stolen from his driveway while he was inside waiting for the truck to heat. In Bethany! If they want it,they get it. Gun up.
Trying to talk my neighbor into going to Haliburton tomorrow
I am just waiting for a trail update from them after the rain we had this week and warmer temps but hopefully it will still be decent with the cold weather we are having now.
@@HaliburtonTrailrider This warm spell probably helped the lake ice. Freeze hard this weekend.
great camera angle
Thank you!!
FYI you don’t need your key. If you forget it again just reach under the hood and unplug the connector and the sled will pull start.
I prefer to have my key and tether instead of trying to steal my own sled lol
Was a great day!! See you on the trails this year buddy!!
Looking forward to seeing you out there too!
2025 season? What year is it?
Since 2025 is only roughly 2 weeks away, it is the 2025 season of sledding. If you want to be ultra particular see it as 24/25 season then 🤷♂️
Pretty good for so early I was there saturday riding a red apex.
I wish I was out Saturday as well. Glad to hear you had a great time too!
where is calabogie looks like some nice riding
It was an amazing place to ride. Tons of trails and great scenery. It is about an hour west of Ottawa and a little south.
I am checking conditions right now, maybe off to Haliburton today.
We are supposed to get more snow over the next few days starting tonight so should be even better for the weekend or Friday.
Loving the different camera angles this time 👌
Thanks!
Voiceover in the video would be awesome🤘🏻
Awesome, I will work on that a bit more! I will try to get a mic set up going eventually too. I just need to figure out the best setup for that.
Great conditions for early season!
great vid man, is it any good there for off trail riding?
Thanks for the comment. There isn’t any off trail riding unfortunately at Haliburton Forest. There is crown land not far though if you are looking for off trail stuff from what I hear. Not sure how good it is though.
@ thanks for the response I hope I can go up there for the first time this Christmas break
@@smoosty_ Ya hopefully the snow keeps coming and they open more stuff and some other trails in Ontario too!
Beautiful
Thanks! I think so too!
Can’t wait to see what you get!
The reveal vid is now available or for you to see.
Cool to see a local guy doing fun things. Looking forward to the summer content.
Hey, thanks! I’m looking forward to posting more fun things. Now we need warm weather instead of this second winter.
Love Tall Pines trails!
I understand why.
HR! That’s my neck of the woods Raven lake Kawagama lake etc, Devon Mackay does a great job taking care of the trails here!!!
Looks like Wolf and Crown trails at the end
I got just under 2700km this year, looking to get more next year with you 🙏🏻
That’s not too bad at all considering our winter. Next year for sure!
And it would be great when you ride with others, spend a little time going over the iron. Let us see what everyone is riding. Love the machines!
I love the feedback. Thank you. I will make sure I get on that and include that stuff for next season. Sorry to hear your season was even worse. Next year will be better!
@@HaliburtonTrailrider time to get the bike ready!
Thanks for some sweet rides this year. Two new sleds here w 150 miles on each. One trip to upper Michigan while they had a bit of snow. Otherwise brown everywhere. So it was really nice to at least watch you!!
Definitely one for the record books (in a bad way!). 1964 km verses the 5381km last year and 3504 km the year before that. Glad that we could get out riding though!
Yes at least we got out. Any riding is better than none at all! Thanks for following along!
It was the worst season I’ve ever endured!!! 1200 kilometres on the sidewinder and 300 on the Apex that’s it,, thx for the content
Every little bit counts right! Thanks for following along, I’m glad you enjoyed my content. Fingers crossed for a much better season next year!
are you just bad ass 👍👍✌🤙
Or if any of my riding buds could get off work 😖
I’d need to drive 13 hours from Mn to get to the nearest open trail. And I’d do it if my cat would ride w me!!
Ya it’s pretty sweet that my Lil’Buddy is pretty chill in the truck.
Good vid. Show looked not bad.
Ya the conditions were pretty great from the snow that had fallen on the Thursday before.
Was this Saturday? I think I saw you, with your 360 cam. Riding was great on Saturday.
Yes it was on Saturday! And ya the riding was great that day!
That’s why I put air tags on my sleds. Another great trip/vids. So jealous.
Great idea. I should buy some.
Where is the spot you unloaded in fort irwin?
There is an area right where Boice Bradley Dr starts. Where you can park. There are a few spots along that road where you can pull off to park on the side actually. There is a spot or 2 at the park by Haliburton lake but you have to road run. And there is a lot at the end of Ross Lake rd.
Nice, i did this and rolled my sled when i hit a pressure crack.
Ya I did the same, that sucks. Check out my other short for the sled on its side😞.
so
Hope they got their sleds back - I'd bet cops didn't do much - really deters from venturing out there. Anyway - trails look great - thanks for the ride. Cheers from T.O.
Hey thanks for watching. The sled was not recovered but due to 2 not so great seasons he got a smoking deal on a 2023 left over stock unit.
Beauty!!
Thanks buddy!
Did you notice 99% didn’t give hand signals back.
Looks like a great day of riding !
It sure was!
Was there on the 4th. Have drone shot of that on my channel.
Oh nice! We were there the 3rd. Was awesome! I’ll check out your channel and drone footage!
