Great content! The Tama Probeat pedal was definitely revolutionary. Back in the 80s I own Flexi Flyer and Camco pedals. Currently, I own four Camco pedals and I still think they’re the best pedals around

Great video! I also collect old Tama pedals. My Flexi Flyer has a bit of a curious thing, which is a single hole rocker cam, rather than the 3-way ones that most 80s Tama pedals have. The hex shaft is round at the end and not flattened on one edge, so you can still adjust beater angle by loosening the Allen screw. Have you ever seen that before?

Started off on these pedals back in 84, had a double bass swingstar, big tom's the whole deal, I spent so much money on the drums those were the only pedals I could afford to go with the kit, I remember ripping angel of death on those things, and blowing the neighborhood comp away on those simple leather straps, I replaced the straps once when they broke then aventually sold them to my buddy and went to dw, If I had it to do over again I think I would have just kept them and probably been happier, I've spent so much money on pedals and BS sense then it's a bad joke only to find out that it's the player, not the gear. You've either got the skill or you don't, if we could just go back in time 🤔

1st: "This is the best pedal ever made". 2nd: "I changed every part on it" 😄

Your method of cutting the bearing edges is certainly different than the way most people do it, which is with a router, with the bit pointed upward, suspended in a table to facilitate the precise cutting angle. Were you happy with the results?

I have a 1st gen aluminum FFS with Super Hoops. Recently the throw-off developed a fair bit of friction when turning the wires on/off, like the lever won't pop into the off position, I have to move it all the way. I hope it's something I can just add some grease to, because I'm not looking forward to having to take apart the throw-off. I really hope it isn't a rivet breaking, but with my luck, it is.

I love pearl japan models i have 1 these as i commented and 4 other mij pearl snare drums. I had a cb700 maple free floater in high school i guess it was pearl trying out the design or whatever on lower end first. It was so close to a 1st gen pearl. Pearl made cb700 so just odd thing this bacame such a sought after item .😊

Great video! You have the snare tuned pretty high for the concluding playing example. How does this snare sound to you at medium or even lower tensionings?

Good video, very interesting. I have a suggestion. I know that some drums that I have cleaned up are known for those lug screw bosses breaking off, yet my method prevents this, I believe. When re- installing the lugs, only put force on the lug against the shell as firmly as you can, and turn the screws in gently until you feel tension, then just a bit more. I never use the screws to "draw" the lug to the shell and tighten them this way.
