Month #29 of our Sling TSi Build: First engine start Rotax 915 iS and technical inspections.
During this month we had two Amateur-Built Aircraft Certification Inspections by the NVAV-technician. The NVAV is the Dutch authority for guiding homebuilders during their build process and perform all necessary inspections to obtain an airworthiness certificate. During the same period it was time to start the engine for the first time. After the purging procedure we started our engine twice for a total of 70 minutes. We even performed a short taxi-attempt and the brakes proofed to be working fine. Next stop will be to determine the empty weight of AER.

Month #28 of our Sling TSi Build: Moved to home airport (EHSE) and fitted the wings and propellor.
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.Месяц назад
The last and final stage of our build started at Breda International Airport, the home airport for PH-AER. Now it was time to put on the propellor and install the wings. After helping a fellow builder with his wings half a year ago, we knew what to expect and how to prepare ourselves. All of a sudden PH-AER came alive as a whole. What a great plane it is becoming.
Month #27 of our Sling TSi Build: Showing true colours, final stage livery, professional wrap!
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.2 месяца назад
Last pitstop before moving to our home airport. Now our design finally comes together by wrapping the fuselage, wings, stabilisers and wheel pants. An extremely exiting moment in the build. Will it be like we anticipated? The professionals of Reclamebeesten in Etten-Leur were extremely professional and hospitable and we were allowed to participate during all stages of the wrapping process. We a...

On the 24th of April 2024 PH-AER finally got its true identity. At Reclamebeesten B.V. in Etten-Leur the final part of the livery was applied. The Signing and Wrapping specialists of Reclamebeesten performed real magic by making our design come alive. Next stop will be its homebase EHSE. Drone shots made by Gino Laurita
Month #26 of our Sling TSi Build: Sanding, sanding and more sanding. Full month at the paintshop.
Просмотров 7073 месяца назад
After transporting our Sling to the Painter we filled the entire month sanding our future flying machine. The whole process of sanding, puttying, masking off and sanding again repeated over and over. After applying a layer of wash primer and after that a layer of filler paint we had the sand it all again. After that it finally went into the professional paint booth for the second time to get it...
Month #25 of our Sling TSi Build: Brake fluid, problems with Rotex Engine Management and Paintprep.
Просмотров 4164 месяца назад
Bleeding our new Matco brakes proofed to be an interesting job. Unfortunately we encountered problems with the Engine Management System. We lack actual data on several engine sensors. We checked every connection between the MWPB harness and the Rotax engine. Still did not found the solution and probably need some help from Rotax specialists. Made preparations for moving our Sling to the Painter.
Special: Transportation to the painter

On the 28th February 2024 the future PH-AER was transported from the workshop in Oosterhout to the paint company in Oudenbosch. The transportation was done in two legs and the Sling TSi passed its future Home Airfield (EHSE). Hopefully it will have its maiden flight from this nice airport soon. Month #24 of our Sling TSi Build: Installing Airmaster Propellor, new Matco brakes and windscreen
Просмотров 3595 месяцев назад
Yes....after 14 months of waiting we finally received our Airmaster Propellor and were able to install the hub to see whether we did the right thing with our cowling prep. It proved to be a magic fit 🎉. Besides that we changed the brakes to the Marco double brakepads system. Installed the topskin and placed the windscreen. This turned out to be the most challenging part of the build, by trimmin...
Month #23 of our Sling TSi Build: Powering up the Garmin avionics for the first time!
Просмотров 6026 месяцев назад
A nerve-racking episode of the build. Connecting the full harness to a power source 🥴. Using an adjustable LAB Adapter to control the voltage and amperage. Luckily no smoke or other major issues. Just one or two connectors not seated well and a Garmin firmware update resolved our LRU problem straight away. Installed an extra ground bus for the ground cables of the ECU and HIC connector.
Month #22 of our Sling TSi Build: Shaping the cowling and started with the interior upholstery.
Просмотров 3877 месяцев назад
Unfortunately the prefabbed cowling from the factory in South Africa is not 100% perfect. Far from. It takes a lot of puttying-sanding-repeating the whole process all over again. With great help from a specialist it is getting closer and closer. Next stop is the upholstery. We started with the luggage compartment and worked our way to the front. It really starts to look like a plane 😉.
Month #21 of our Sling TSi Build: Interior lightning, cowling challenges and sanding...a lot.
Просмотров 2548 месяцев назад
Installed the interior lightning: two rotary pilot lights with a separate switch for white and red (during night flights). Installed an extra light for the luggage compartment. Sanding all filled rivets, especially the countersunk rivets need a lot of attention and care.
Month #20 of our Sling TSi Build: Fitting the cowling proofs to be a real jigsaw puzzle challenge
Просмотров 2909 месяцев назад
Finished all fittings and wiring to the engine. Now it is time to fit the cowling which proofed to be quite a challenge. Whilst the prop is not sooner expected than early 2024 we use a wooden hub to simulate the prop position. The other big task ahead is sanding all filled rivets. Especially the countersunk rivets need a lot of attention and care. First sanding rough and during the second phase...
Month #19 of our Sling TSi Build: Huge milestone! Mounting our Rotax 915iS engine to the fuselage.
Просмотров 33010 месяцев назад
Found solution for the fuel manifold leak and passed the pressure test of the entire fuel system. This made it possible to mounting the Rotax engine. Trimmed the dash to fit our panel. Modified the exhaust pipe and connected all oil hoses and the coolant system. Connected the motor management to the harness. Trimmed the fibreglass plates for the interior side panels and tested alternative door ...
Month #18 of our Sling TSi Build: Connecting more wiring and discovered a leak in the fuel manifold.
Просмотров 25911 месяцев назад
More soldering, crimping and figuring out where all the wires go. Installed the OAT-probe. Sealed the back seat floor and build an extra back seat floor. Finished up the firewall forward electric wiring. Unfortunately we discovered a leak at the fuel manifold during pressure testing. Conclusion: no engine mounting this month 😫 and spent these hours for rivet filling 🥴.
Month #17 of our Sling TSi Build: Installing the fuel manifold, avionics tray and connecting wiring
Просмотров 488Год назад
Putting the wiring harness and avionics tray piece by piece together. All Garmin devices are put into their specific locations and connecting the AoA, static and pitot pneumatic tubes to the G5 and ADAHRS Module. Final firewall forward installations to be able to put the engine in place next month.

Loose the music please. What were you thinking? Silence is not going to distract. Stupid loops of fee free music that has it's sound level pushed up too high is the trashiest thing you can do.
