Attention all new and aspiring surfboard shapers! Have you ever wanted to make your own surfboard template, so you can shape an original surfboard from a raw blank, without copying an existing surfboard shape? Check out this video where Bill Stewart, Founder of Stewart Surfboards, shows you what tools you need and how to build your own surfboard template. Bill Stewart has personally shaped over 40,000 surfboards and contributed many innovations to the surf industry, including the beveled rail, single to double concave "Hydro Hull" bottom, and the 2+1 fin setup on performance longboards. So, yeah, Bill knows curves!

With real wood stringers, beveled foiled rails, and concaves in the bottom, these boards are more durable than a glassed board, safer than a hard board, and ride way better than a foamie.

    Taping 1\16 inch Tig welding wire rod to your door skin is great for seeing and determining shapes too if you go to a local welding shop they will probably just give you a couple they are 36 inches long they don't stay curved they spring back to straight 🤙

    I might be wrong but the plywood shape is the template, right? I’ll love to know how to build that, you know, the right measures and so

    • @stewartsurfboards4837
      @stewartsurfboards4837 25 дней назад

      Yes, the wood shape is the template. It's a thin wood called door skin, which is used to create doors. It's Bill's favorite material to make templates out of. As for the measurements, that's up to you (the shaper) to decide what measurements you're going for and what shape you want to create. There's no right answer there!

Im still not BIG but 30 lbs heavier than 20 years ago (luckily its mostly muscle mass) Ive been thinking about the Redline 11 for my local spot Kahalu'u on the Big Island. Im thinkinh a 26" wide 3 1/4" or 3 1/8" thick. Im 5'9" 183lbs and always knee paddle. Do you have venders or ship to Kona?

      Hi Mike, thanks for reaching out! The dimensions you're talking about should be plenty big for a guy your size to knee paddle. The best thing to do is call our shop -- 949-492-1085 -- and ask for the board room. Our staff is super knowledgeable and can work out all the details on exactly which board is right for you. And, yes, we can ship via air cargo to be picked up at the airport on the Big Island.

      The nose rocker is similar to the Ripster. The tail is more like the Tipster -- dramatic rocker! The Bird sits right in between our Tipster and Ripster models -- solid hold in the tail for endless noserides with the hard edges off the tail and down-turned rails like the Ripster for more speed and maneuverability.
