💕
I saw this tour in Detroit. Ian Dury blockheads opened. Lou was late and the crowd getting nasty. Lou walks on stage and says “fuck you detroit, you’re lucky I even show up”. The crowd loved it and the show was great.
I don't know it's just something about it that makes LR and that guitar guy addictive for me. Of course, Robert Quine (had to go look it up) and the great Fernando.
That snare is amazing, love the drummer
So good. Indeed some of the best live versions of older songs, especially Coney Island.
thanks for posting! i love youtube for finding great old music
I was at the show and I seem to remember an idiot in the audience that had painted track marks on his forearms and had a guitar coming up on stage pretending to be Lou and having the security taken out anyway it was an amazing concert and Lou seem to handle the distraction really well😊
Omg what a version of coney Island baby ... Brings me to tears❤😭
Your right. Tears in the eyes.
THE GLORY OF ROCK, LOU REED!

Better than Elvis Presley.
this version of Walk on the Wild side is on WXRT - Live from the Archives Vol 2. the quality is incredible! smokin' show! thanks for posting!!
This must be the best band in the Universe ever. Too bad it did not last longer. I think last songs they recorded was "My name is Mok" and "Triumph" with Lou Reed. And "America".
Coney Island Baby and Berlin in these shows were just brilliant.
This is amazing. Thank you
Capital theatre Passaic NJ, April 22nd 1978 Ian Dury opened up Front row center seats..
I am so thankful that Ou ove the saxophone this is extraordinarily. Thanks .
I’m a Coney Island Baby , I wanna play football, joy man , this fella did dark with light
Some of this sounds like James Chance !!!!!
the best lou reed . take no prisoners lou
My goodness this band is blaring! High energy overload, one of the best live shows I ever heard by Reed- leaves Rock N Roll Animal in the dust.
Saxophone is great.
THE SINGERS ARE GREAT TOO

I fucking hate the saxophone during this period of Lou’s live sets. Horrible addition to the sound.
He tended to over use the honky tonk horn Ala Springsteen.....

Thank you so much for sharing this recording of a truly wonderful show from Lou. I shall save it so that it will be on tap for future access. I had seen Lou a few years earlier when he performed at the Rainbow in London, during his 1974 tour. There is a video of his performance in Paris, during this year. As in London, he has bleached hair and wears his trademark dark shades - an image perfectly captured on the cover of Sally Can't Dance. I felt so proud to be there, witnessing the coolest act in town with a black girlfriend to give me extra street cred: how cool is that!
I was at this show. Lou Reed was an hour or longer late for his set. The opening act was Ian Dury and the Blockheads. It was announced that Lou was late, but Ian & the Blockheads would keep playing until Lou was available. They played their hearts out, and they must have played Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll 3 times as Ian apologized to the audience for the band repeating their songs. Ian and the Blockheads won over every person in attendance that night! Then Lou and his band play this magnificent show. Since 1978, I had a bootleg of this show. I must have listened to this over 1000 times. That cassette is long gone, so it's nice to hear this concern again. I wish the Ian Dury part of that night would surface on RUclips. It was my all-time favorite night of live music.
I saw the same tour and he was an hour late for our show too at the Stonybrook Gymnasium. Unfortunately, he had to cut the show short running out of time because of campus rules.
I saw reed play for 5 hours in 1979 -- the Bells tour -- San Francisco. Best concert of my life @ the Old Warfield theater where there were only120 attendees!😊 I'm a big blue oyster cult fan 2.
They were great
Incredible show!
FUCKIN LOU!!! Dude, do I have to say more???
I like every live of Lou Reed and all songs of "Street Hassle" and liquid air (Don Cherry : cornet trompet of Ornette Coleman who've played with him) on I wanna be black (more of boneheads talked to his "racism" a part of people are dosen't understand the push-humor
It can happen to YOU!
Fuckin great version ! ❤❤❤
Thats for all lou album is Great he was better poet than bob dylan
I was there the next year in 79. Close to the stage and he looked at me during sweet jane. love you Lou
Greatest Sax solo ever. No more to say. RIP big man x
They recorded every one of the "take no prisoners" shows so there are hours of recordings in brilliant binaural and even never released songs with this band🤯 Come on Rhino, do a box set!!
Still a mind fuck
Lou was the best...
Lou Reed voted Trump
lou was dead
Man this was time captured whew...I was only 9 then and now realize how this was a special moment captured...culture and particularly Lou were just amazing...the 80s were okay but this phase was just magical.
This is by far the best LR performance I’ve found so far; the music is super tight, but not over blown; the songs are like a best of ‘70s collection; Lou is in great form, actually hitting most of his lines, not parodying his own lyrics as he frequently does. Just beautiful.
Why won't he sing the song melodies ? Infuriating. He totally wrecked the VU reunion.
@@spaceengineer1452 it’s like he’s too cool to sing the same way twice. But his improv is so careless and awkward, like he has a disdain for his own material. I put Lou Reed in the company of Dylan and Leonard Cohen, but unlike those two, there’s a fair amount of Reed’s output I shudder to listen to.
*@Ektoplasmic Interzone* ....................."does".............?
Lou was The best rock poet ever
