The Hotel Mercure near Charles de Gualle Airport put me through a similar experience, but in that case the 'assistant' was a kitchen hand of Indian origin called Satish. I noted his name from his tag. At breakfast, he followed me about giving me the evil eye and harassing me about anything I touched. He created an extremely uncomfortable and impolite situation/atmosphere. Meanwhile, all the whites and Asians and arabs were allowed to conduct their breakfast peacefully. There were Asian guys in particular with various plates piled high with patisserie, cold meats, yoghurts, etc. This guy did and said nothing, but he actually shouted at me for taking a second piece of fruit. He clearly resented my being in the hotel at all. That was the final straw for me. I went directly to the hotel manager and reported the matter. He seemed shocked and apologized and informed me of what I knew already. There was no limit to one piece of fruit, and the employee was acting badly and outside his remit. I also posted a review on google with full details. And now I am posting another here. And I will continue to do so if it seems relevant in a particular context. There is no point talking about the matter if you do not expose the culprits. It just means you are using other people to ventilate and find relief without doing anything to improve the situation for others who will surely come after you. What about all the people who do not have white husbands to stand up for them?
