This channel is dedicated to the work of well-known Uzbekistan musicologist Otanazar Matyakubov. Known as OM outside Uzbekistan, largely thanks to the book by American musicologist Ted Levin about musical travels across Central Asia, Otanazar Matyakubov dedicated his life to studying and researching maqom, tabur notation, and translating into Uzbek language the great works of such masters as Najmiddin Kavkabiy, Al-Farabi and others.
Professor Matyakubov's latest work, five volume “Uzbek Music: Fundamental Research,” offers a panoramic account of the history of Uzbek music from ancient times to the 21st century.

Rayhan. You and your film crew should travel to the Altai Mountains of western Mongolia and make a documentary about the Kazakh eagle hunters (and huntresses). You could stay with nomadic family hosts, feature their culture and lifestyle, embark on eagle hunts, follow Aisholpan and Akbota and attend the Eagle Festival. There have been numerous other reports and docs --- even a movie. But now you can add the BBC to the list of broadcasters.
Thanks it's a great idea! When the pandemic is over and the borders open it might become possible.
