It was more of a weird misunderstanding turned mistrust situation involving money, stranger and cultural difference. Host's tone was cold and unfriendly. Might be because not only her money got stuck for 3 days for the failed ticket booking, where the refund process doesn't refunds the small platform fee. It is the worst feeling for anyone in India who is booking on IRCTC. Certainly she could not try booking again and risk another failed booking. I am not sure what happened after that which led to this situation. I can understand though you being in that uncomfortable situation being in that house. Being a foreigner, it can get scary. Looked like it all get sorted out at the end. However this video might put you in a legal trouble now, if the lady files a police complaint for reputation damage.

India is not safe even for Indians.. Here the lady might not necessarily be at full fault, i don't think she robbed u, perhaps she thought she is getting robbed too.. situation handled very poorly from both ends ... advisory tips .. in certain cities u can enjoy the local lifestyle but in certain parts of India it would be more wiser to stay in safer areas .. remember India is not Canada or USA.. don't end up dead in a train track/ robbed /beaten up etc .. Northeast India and south India are relatively much safer..

South India is much safer , peaceful and educated .. Kolkata is known for its scammers and this case might not be a good example “scamming” as there are two sides to the coin but I’d suggest get outta there .

I always wonder why you visitors choose a home stay accommodation over a hotel, if it is for the fact that paying home stay is cheaper then you have economical hotels as well and these hotels are very much in purview of police and local administration surveillance which I think is much safer than unauthorised home stay options

Its also the most unsafe place for women. Too much crime. Watch every foreigner who made video on RUclips sharing negative experience experience in india. Most of them had a bad experience in North India. People there are disgusting. Many foreigners got raped in North india. They are perverted, disgusting, poor, failed scamming piece of shits. Just dont go there mate. Stay safe. There are better places in south india. Hope you travel safe, never trust indians. Never let your guard down while being in India.

try isha Ashram in south india. stay there for a week or two. but if you go to rushikesh, you will be all set. in less than 200$, you can stay for 3 months

use wise app to transfer money. India is pretty digital so not a lot of people carry cash. the whole currency thing is a hassal. look up online to get this sorted. For trains, book first class or second class AC. trust me you are not ready for general class yet. kerala, mumbai , jaipur, Rushikesh, haridwar are pretty tourist friendly places. Get the fuk out of kolkata. You can go far east to megahlay or assam or nagaland but its too early. i would suggest you visit kashi or rishikesh or kaichi dham (where beattles, steve job and mark Z went) expplore the spritual Hindu sites before you try the rest. again get the fk out of kolkata. its a communist place kerala is too but atleast its a tourist friendly place.

understand that it would take you atleast. a month to vibe on the frequency that the locals are vibeing at. its a whole new world. try to be brain deaad as much as possiable when talking to people act dumb and know that their brains are totally different from yours. its like you gotta learn your ABCs again. fuk kolkata its a communist, islamic failed state. You should have started your journey from south india or Mumbai. Try the spritual side of india ashrams (monastery) and stuff. but for solo backpacking go to spiritual sites. Why you are using the word "Robbed"????? She has helped you to book the ticket and transaction did happen but with unsuccessful reservation. She got panicked and may be didn't digest her 2000 INR loss which she may get it back after 3-5 days but there is no guaranty. 2000 INR = 33.37 CAD, it isn't much for you. The wrong thing she did is charging 100 INR per hour.

Firstly she did try to help you by making the bookings for you, now when the transaction was not successful she got panicked thinking she would never get her money back , simple thing would have been to take the money from you (since she cannot bear the loss too) with a promise to return you back(through NEFT) on being refunded by IRCTC . Overall it wasn't a roberry but a situation not handled well by both of you .

Well man to be honest it's not her or even your mistake. Here, IRCTC sucks way too bad. As for the money, yes she was right, it was deducted but the sadly the amount will take at-least 2-3 business days to recover and refunded to her account. As a friend I would like you to travel via flight or take an outstation cab from uber/ola or Make my Trip(Cheapest Option) , never talk to local cab driver, even if they charge you less coz they arent just responsible. Coming to Irctc, tbh its like 2000s era. Way to old and clunky , sadly the Government never seems to make amend. So, next time either take a flight, cab or resort to last option as a BUS(book from MakeMyTrip) but never for God sake take it Train. Not that they are horrible. You who is at fault its IRCTC. They are the worst i took me weeks for them to generate my login credentials. These govt sites get crashed whenever there is too much traffic. I understand both yours perspectives. When you booked the tickets and it failed she could be thinking that she lost her money too because what happens these websites don't work well. That might sound strange to you but that happens i saw you complete video and I think she wasn't trying to scam you. Its just that you were happened to face this situation on your day 2 in a completely different country. If this were happens to me in other country whom system im unfamiliar with i will say the same and start making assumptions about her and maybe the whole country. But best of luck. If you want to have best experience go to utrakhand, ladakh, meghalya or northeastern part of india. Most of the foreigners choose Delhi, Mumbai, Rajasthan and Agra (Taj Mahal)and they say we have experienced india. But really want you too have some decent memories.
