RiskiFixes
Добавлен 28 апр 2022
Welcome to my channel!
RiskiFixes was created because I wanted to do something with my limited free time. I am no professional, but I love a challenge and I always try to fix things instead of replacing them with new ones. I've learned some of my fixing skills by watching RUclips-channels, and I wanted to share my (non-existent!) knowledge to other do-it-yourself-people out there!
I also have a newly found passion for watches, so keep an eye for some pretty sweet and rare pieces. Please feel free to leave comments or send me an email, if you have any thoughts on my videos. Feedback is also much appreciated.
If you like my videos as much as I like making them, please subscribe and help me get rid of my day job, so I could do this for a living instead! Not kidding.

RiskiFixes - EVChargeKing Tesla Connector Kit Assembly
Not a proper fix video, but a short video on installing a 'Tesla button' to an EVChargeKing charger.
A friend asked me to do it and I thought I'll shoot a video of it. Well, I don't know how interesting it turned out to be, but at least the button AND also the charger works. Yay.

RiskiFixes - A2337 Audio IC Reball & Screen Replacement
Просмотров 177Год назад
This video is another fail, unfortunately. Well, partially fail. The screen replacement was successful. The audio issues persists even after I did all the remedies I could come up with. I know that reballing the audio board IC was a long shot, but still worth to try in my opinion. At least I got some practice on how to do that. RiskiFixes Watch Edition - Certina DS-2
Просмотров 8 тыс.Год назад
Something different this time! In this video I'm trying to service a cool vintage Certina DS-2 watch from the 1970's. It took me a long time to film it and although some of the footage is not as good as I aimed for, hopefully you'll find it entertaining. The watch runs OK now, but it still needs a new strap (any suggestions?) and the hands need to be relumed. What I learned from making this vid...
RiskiFixes - Apple AirPort Time Capsule A1470 PSU Cable Repair
Просмотров 149Год назад
In this video, I am fixing something that a feline destroyed. I bought this Apple AirPort Time Capsule (A1470) online and I knew that the previous owner had started the repair project, but gave up when his cat chewed nearly the whole thing to pieces. Well, the only pets I have are my watches, so I was up for the challenge. It turned out pretty good, check it out for yourself. You can find me on...
RiskiFixes - Dell XPS 15 7590 No Power
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.Год назад
It seems that I have been quite busy this year, one month since my last video. I have been working on multiple projects at the same time, but delays with international postage services has slowed me down quite a bit. In this video, I am fixing a Dell XPS 15 7590 laptop with a power issue. For me, this was a weird one. Sometimes it did power up on the third or fourth attempt, provided that the c...
RiskiFixes - Nikon D3500 Faulty LCD Screen
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.Год назад
In this video I was faced with a Nikon D3500 DSLR which had a faulty LCD screen. Surprisingly, the culprit wasn't the LCD nor the loose pins on the LCD connector, but a fuse on the main PCB. What I learned from this project: before rushing into replacing parts, check the basics, i.e. voltages and fuses. RiskiFixes - Macbook Air A2337 Liquid Damage Repair
Просмотров 446Год назад
Well, this sure wasn’t the way I wanted to start 2023. This was my first video where the fix can’t be considered as a success - I managed to repair the original problem, but the audio amplifier for the internal speakers and liquid damaged screen weren’t salvageable. I actually couldn’t find too much info on the Audio Jack Board (820-01929). Hopefully this is still an interesting video! You can ...
RiskiFixes - TXQ Saber Lightsaber Power Button Replacement
Просмотров 906Год назад
In this video I'm replacing a power button on a TXQ Saber Lightsaber. It had difficulties powering up, so I took it apart and troubleshooted what the fault might be. Pretty straightforward job. May the fun be with you! You can find me on Instagram @riskifixes #txq #txqsaber #diyrepair #diy #watchenthusiast #certina #RiskiFixes
RiskiFixes - HP Pavilion RAM Slot Repair
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.2 года назад
In this short video I'm using my exceptional microsoldering skills to fix loose pins on HP Pavilion 14-ce laptop's RAM slot. I read that it is quite common for these laptops to have a couple of loose pins. Lo and behold it was the case here as well. I hope you enjoy the video. RiskiFixes - Macbook Air Backlight XW7720 Repair
Просмотров 3812 года назад
Well, this video was a struggle. Not the video itself, but the project I thought would be an easy and quick fix was anything but. I bought a broken Macbook Air A1466 (2017, EMC 3178) that supposedly had a backlight issue, but it was way trickier than anticipated and I had to fix it in a different way than I had initially planned. Turns out, the best thing I learned during this project, is how l...
RiskiFixes - Macbook Air A1466 Keyboard Replacement
Просмотров 2542 года назад
In this video I'm replacing a keyboard on a Macbook Air A1466 EMC 2559. The laptop had a strange issue. It would shut down if none of the keys was pressed for a while. After disconnecting the internal keyboard and using an external USB keyboard, the issue was gone. But as soon as I re-connected the internal keyboard, it came back. So, after this comprehensive testing it was clear(ish) that the ...
RiskiFixes - Nikon D90 Aperture Motor Gear Replacement
Просмотров 8 тыс.2 года назад
In this video I'm fixing a common issue seen on Nikon D90 cameras. The aperture/shutter motor gear fails partially or completely and it needs to be fixed/replaced. It's an old camera (announced 2008) and was working fine until I shot continuous bursts while testing a lens. Apparently, the plastic gear had had enough during the years and it cracked. Luckily it's quite easy to replace, but it tak...
RiskiFixes - iPhone 7 Battery Replacement
Просмотров 672 года назад
In this video I'm installing a new battery to an iPhone 7. It's an old phone and apparently had been opened before as it had loose screws and a third-party battery in it. I haven’t done these battery replacements before, but I think it was a job well done. Great video great explanation. Great, great great thumbs up.
Thanks👍
Sounds like a good plan! Try searching ’Aperture Motor Gear Replacement For Nikon D80 D90 Camera’ on eBay.
I have the “ERR” message constantly, but if I click, the photo is taken (in random settings though). Can it be the same problem of the video?
It could be, but I don’t know for sure, sorry.
Great video, help me fix the problem and I took the opportunity to replace the camera handle that was broken. It is working perfectly. Thank you
Lenovo sure makes it easy to service their laptops....
Sir, a question. You soldered the rivets after putting the keyboard. Would that deform the rivets which will not fit for the metal case? I wonder how you got some rivets out
Some of them might have been deformed too badly to fit on the metal case, but most of them were ok. Not a major issue.
Link to buy the gear for D90? I see in eBay but making sure it’s from reliable source
Sorry, I can’t remember where I bought it. Most likely from eBay.
@@riskifixesthanks. I got mine from eBay. I’m about to start the replacement today.
Keine 200 Bilder damit gemacht und das Ding ist zum 2. mal kaputt. Um weiteren Ärger zu ersparen werde ich es in den Müll werfen.
Sorry to hear that. You can send it to me if you want to😄
Hello. I'm having the same issue as I just hear the same sound every time I click the shutter button. And the display showing the Err. I think this is closest to my issue as I know the mirror will go up if I manually move it up. I'm just not sure about the shutter... How do I know if this is the exact issue? Thanks in advance!
I’m sorry, I’m not skilled enough to know what could cause your issue.
Merci pour cette vidéo très instructive... 👍
hi, wanna know how to deal with the stripped screw?
Dang, mine just started to break some months ago after almost 5 years of hard use. I thought I could repair it as good as new but with this kind of heatgun needed I guess its impossible for me.
Mine doesn't AF. Do you know where you can buy new AF motors?
I haven’t found one, sorry. If you do, please let me know.
I managed to repair my d90 thanks to this video. I encountered the same problem with the rear display on the first reassembly but by repositioning the 2 electronic cables the display reappeared. It is still better to have the service manual for the screw number. This seems essential to me for reassembly because many of the screws are different. Thank you so much!
Thank you, I repaired my D90. Pinion was loose, it was not cracked. I used loctite glue and it is fixed.
I have a hacked 2dsxl, the blue light turns and stays on, bur whatever I do the screen doesnt turn on. Do you know any way to fix it?
Well, I tried and failed. I have neither a heat gun, nor a variable temperature soldering iron. Tried it with what I have, a wood burning iron, which is functionally identical to a soldering iron. My idea was to turn it off once it started melting the plastic, and turn it on again when it got too cool. Plastic ended up sticking to the iron bad, making it difficult to get the new keyboard in place due to all the missing plastic. Had to melt the waste plastic onto what was left of the tabs to form the rivets again, and even then they were brittle when cool. After that I find out the keyboard I installed was faulty, or I damaged it during my shoddy install (several keys don’t register unless pressed very hard and double type sometimes). I’m going to put a Bluetooth keyboard on top of my keyboard and call it good. I don’t think I’ll attempt this again without better equipment 😅
Wow amazing
Thank you sir, I have little water damage a1466. There is backlight problem. Corrosion on D7701, L7701 and burned/rusted XW7720 button. Everything other is good, no damage/corrosion (LCD connector, capasitors C7796-97-99, even back side U7701 every one is good) I dont understand XW7720, What is your aim to scratch near XW7720 button and what did you do there? Please help me figure out this schematic about L7701----XW7720----D7701 (and back side U7701 IC). THANK YOU!
Hello i am trying to fix my own camera can you tell my what fuse to buy so i can buy the one fits to my camera
Do you know how to get in-between the front lens element of this lens there's some fungus. Some guidance would be appreciated
Why they made the keyboard replacement so complicated 😤
I'm having the same issue with my new old stock D300. The camera is literally new, it has +/-200 shutter actuations. This seems to be very common issue with Nikon cameras and the fact that Nikon has done NOTHING to address it is simply beyond me. What a crap company!
Can you do a video on how to properly install the plastic volume slider? I can’t seems to make mine fit!!!
Was able to fix my D90 today with this video! 📷 To keep track of all the screws, I used the timestamp from the video when each was taken out and arranged them that way. So I could always go back on the video and locate where exactly it belonged. Thank you for the clear and detailed instructions!
Great to hear, good job👍🏼
I will try to do the same and save my D90 excellent video
Compré está mierda de maquina, que solo me duró dos sesiones de fotos. Es por lo que he visto la basura más grande jamás creada no me voy a molestar en repararla, la mierda hay que tirarla.
The only thing worrying my about doing this are the plastic rivets. You think its possible to remove them like you did with a blowdrier? I saw in another video someone removing the rivets with a box cutter and then soldering when reassemblying, but I was unsure if he was using solder and if thats ok for the laptop.
I prefer the heating method so there’s no need to cut any material. But both ways work.
Hello, my recently bought TXQ saber has some similiar issues but im not a welder nor an electronics engineer, i have no idea how the cables and stuff works, and I have no tools to do all this... Currently my button is stuck as if its pressed it (although its physically not), the only way for me to turn of the saber is by removing the battery and putting it back in
I’m not an expert, but it sounds like your button could be shorted.
Considering the price at introduction in 2008 was $899.95, Nikon should be ashamed of themselves for using all those plastic-gears..
Can you show me where the cmos battery is?
Sorry, I don’t know if it has one.
Are you really doing repairs while wearing a luminor panerai are you crazy ? 😂
Sometimes...😯
May I ask, what amperage that fuze is? I have a similar situation, my screen backlight doesn't work, but when I project some light on the screen, I'm seeing the menus. LE: Just saw the fuze properties in the captions.
Just one more question: what kind of glue did you use to put back the rubbery parts?
My cable is also broken like your cable😢
Bro my laptop screen not showing but when I clean my ram and re enter then my screen showing. But after shutdown this problem again came..😢😢
It might be loose pins on the RAM slot? Hope you’ll sort it out👍🏼
@@riskifixeswhat will be cost to repair that ?
My tamron is stuck between 400 & 600. The aperture is working. What was the fix for the zoom being stuck?
Take a look at 9:40. It might be something to do with the outmost barrel not being in the correct position. Hope it helps!
How much does the keyboard replacement cost
I bought new keyboard, not original, ~30$
Can i just send mine to you? 🤣
Sure🤠
Oh this isn't something I'll be doing. Might as well throw the whole god damn thing away
I've got a similar camera (d60), so I guess it'll be similar. I'll tell you when I give it a try
Sir iska moter by kaha se kare Koi online link do please
Not sure what do you mean, but try AliExpress etc.
insanity how difficult to replace keyboard
I agree, there's no point to make it that difficult.🤷♀
I got my hands on a purple one, worked for the summer then it stopped booting, itll boot once in a blue moon, but yheres a stripped main screw, so ill see what happens, cuz these housings oem arent cheap
Hello - just wanted to let you know that your video helped me be successful in replacing the gear for my elderly father's camera that we couldn't afford to pay to get fixed or buy a new camera - even second hand. I don't know how much longer my dad will be around but I know that with the time you took to make this video to help me fix his camera I will be left with many more special pictures and memories after he's gone. Thank you very much for your time and detail in making this video.
Hi, you’re welcome and thanks for watching! It makes me really happy to hear that my video has been helpful to you and your family. Take care!
Not difficult task?omg 😅
Thanks for the video, this just happened to mine, and yup the spur gear was cracked at the shaft
Is the Tax Man after you ? Why no talkie ?
You can never be too careful. 😅
I have the same problem, can someone help me?
Thanks for the video, i spilled water over my keyboard about a year ago and with your tutorial i was finally able to fix my laptop and everything works perfectly thanks so much !!!!
Great to hear! Good job!👍
i have the same 2ds XL model. It took a Little fall and now It wont turn on like in the video.
Hopefully it's just a loose cable!👍
