Sg2 or r2 powdered stainless steel is very hard and somewhat a pain to sharpen. Its a great steel for knives edge retention is off the charts

I think this knife has stainless cladding so it doesn't need to oiled whole blade ..just put oil on exposed core part only and on spine also
