In this clip from their TV show Rolling on the River. Kenny sings a song he wrote for his Grandfather. This song is even more poignant with the passing of Kenny last month.

A one of a kind song written by a dear friend Chuck Cline. His voice is amazing. I was delighted he asked me to help create this video.
Aureus.....MacAurthur Park

A really sweet instrumental version of the Jimmy Webb penned. Richard Harris Epic MacAurthur Park. Aureus was a seven piece band from Chicago. Six guys and one gal. I saw them quite a few times in the late 70's at a local lounge in the Quad Cities. They toured for 10 years. Always wondered why the never hit it big. Their vocals were also outstanding. Turn up the volume and give it a listen, or ...

A terrific version of the Gary Morris song. Written by Dennis Linde and Bob Morrison. Done by my friend Chuck Cline. Chuck asked me to help create this video as a Valentine's Day tribute to all his friends. Chuck does a wonderful job covering this classic song from the 1980's.

Mickey Jones talking about Gordon Lightfoot
Great energy!
First Edition had a fan club in ‘71. The club invited me to their show in the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center in NYC. A chance to meet them after dinner
My mom worked for a relative of Kenny's wife. About once a month my mom would take her to visit. My mom would wait in the kitchen while they talked over lunch. Without fail, Kenny would come in and ask my mom to make him a sandwich. Then they would talk for about thirty minutes. He was a totally down to earth and wonderful man!
I have a scratched copy and I still love it…very underrated album..I agree…where’s the cd or better …on a stream service
Dang , remember watching their TV show and enjoying it . This if it was on it , maybe I missed it or came later ,after the split of The 1st Edition . Of course , didn't know Mary and Roger Miller were later married ? I remember Kenny Rogers in a interview said the TV was allright , but they never had another hit !
This clip was from a special they did in New Zealand called Rollin though New Zealand. The clip was shot on ther Southern Alps . Mary was dropped off on the mountain by helicoptrer and was the only one on the mountain. She told me at a First Edition reunion that sher was scared to death doing it.
Joey never better. Saw her in 1964 in person. Terrific then.
Neat upload
Sing on girl, I am a great fan of yours. Yours is the case of the hidden talent recently re-discovered. What a voice, what dancing and what legs. Cyd Charisse must have cringed with envy.
Just beautiful Chuck😇
Truly it was . We all miss Chuck
Watched her specials on CBS ,and her Dad was on them . Joey ok by me ,and thks for trying to help our guys , on Bob's stuff in Vietnam Even bought your PB issue . All the rest is only your concern THKS !
I don’t know a lot about Mary. I do know a little bit about the first edition. But you’ve gotta be pretty dang talented to beat out Karen Carpenter in a singing audition, and Mary did that. Love her.
I was stunned that she was quite a talented singer. I never knew. She fore-fronted her sex kitten image and few paid attention to her vocal skills. Sad.
Just imagine if the age of film musicals would have been extended. The career she could have had.
I will miss Gordon Lightfoot for the rest of my life. He was the last troubadour.

Lost track of Joey Heathertn, so glad to have found her now. Great performance of a beautiful song. Thanks for posting.
She rerally didn't get enough credit for her vocal talernt
Rest easy gordon
❤️
Too bad the clarity of the video isn't better. She is so pretty. Voice too.
I used to have this album, "Backroads" as well as "Monumental" on Jolly Rogers! It was too bad that Kenny & the band left Reprise as they could have really promoted, "The Ballad of Calico"! R.I.P., Kenny Rogers & Mickey Jones...
The Ballad of Calico was in my opinion Kenny Rogers And The First Edition's "Masterpiece"! Perhaps as an analogy as The White album was to The Beatles! It was in an opera form with The Sunrise Overture and Calico Saturday Night as the Underture! I have always liked Kenny in his vibrato voice singing, "Write Me Down, Don't Forget My Name"! Songs like "Vachel Carling's Rubilator", "In One Lonely Room", "School Teacher", "Old Mojave Highway", & others make The Ballad of Calico priceless indeed! I can only imagine how great Calico must have sounded in quadraphonic? I only wish like many of us out here would be delighted to have Calico in a CD format perhaps! Thank you, Terry, for telling us about the group's experience during the listening that night of Calico for the first time in its natural sequence indeed!
We will sing with him again!!!!
Beautiful!!! Thank you! I miss those days!!
Most enjoyable. Great strum. Love your voice, man!
Chuck was a good friend who passed away a few years ago.
When I found out a few years ago that, Jones (who I always assumed was an actor only) played with electric Dylan, The Gambler(Kenny Rogers) and the Band, my mind was blown. Heck of a life man, hanging with icons.
RIP Gordon Lightfoot
Not the tune. The point is to find the Lord so as to make a better place. Sanctify
Joey Heatherton is a highly underrated of former. She did a phenomenal job on this song!
This may have been a video that she did for their show "Rollin' on the River" either from 1971 when it was called that or when they changed the title to "Rollin'" in 1972.
This was done for their New Zealand Special. Rollin Through New Zealand. It was shot on the Southern Alps in NZ. I talked to Mary about this at a First Edition Reunion. She was dropped off on the mountain by helicopter.
Always loved Mary. What a voice and her enthusiasm.
I talked to Mary at several First Edition reunions. She is a sweet lady and still is pretty. At one I asked her about this clip. She said she was really scared doing it. They helicoptered her in and she was alone on the mountain.
@@KevHes Thanks for the imfo.
My Favorite Group. Kenny didn't quit he wanted to go on. The Record Label insisted on putting his name up front the same way they did with The Union Gap with Gary Puckett.
I still have her MGM album where she did this song - I always thought she was somehow, I don't know, under rated as a performer, or was she difficult to work with (?) - she was a great dancer, and her singing was sometimes criticized (I don't know why) and she sounded great on her album. Yet, it did only so-so in sales from what I understand and she did have a hit with "Gone" also featured on the album.
Joey certainly stands out from the crowd now but all those years ago did she only do the rounds of variety shows as a guest singer dancer? Someone easy on the eye and reliable to deliver the female entertainment segment and then do a duet with the star of the show. Joey is actually a super star, talented and so underrated pity she didn’t have good management behind her.
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I came here after watching SCTV pun her, so I became curious. And all I can say is WOW!
Thanks. My first time hearing this. Its GREAT.
Thank you!
Just awesome!! Thank you for the memories!!
I always love their music!
They could do any music style.
I saw her in in Atlanta with the Bob Hope show she Stole the show

So awsome Terry

Anyone who thinks Kenny couldnt carry a tune listen to this song
Never heard anyone say that.
NO one....does it better!... as a power song!..
Is that Jerry Colonna applauding at 3.15?
She should have focused all her energies on being a great singer - because she was. Not on all that sex symbol and other nonsense. She sold herself short.
This album should be made into a play or movie
