Thank you. 🙌❤
You are so welcome ❤️
We have been doing quail for about a year now and LOVE it and they are so easy way easier than chickens
That’s awesome! I still need to get mine. We ended up getting chicken chicks instead this year. Maybe next year we will get the quail. Thanks for sharing!
Hi, great pod
Thank you!
ive raised em forever under my rabbits. I recently started a worm farm in a old bathtub
That’s awesome!
Having sewing skills is a part of homesteading you will want to add to your list.😊
Yes! My list was actually over 100 skills and I’m not sure why I didn’t include sewing on this list. There’s so many skills to learn. 😊

I have been curious about this possibility, so I appreciate you covering it so personally and thoroughly. The comparison of respecting , caring for, and killing my own chickens and/or rabbits to the horrific lives of the animals raised and killed by the big companies really struck home and is compelling . I have not finished watching yet but wanted to pipe in “Thank You!” now
I’m so glad it resonated with you. Thank you for watching and comment! ❤️
Have her very worn book love it 😅
So cool! I still need to get it. 😊
Getting chickens was the start to my garden. Began too late, but we started! That’s what counts.
Yes totally counts! Congrats 👏🏽
All chickens have their own personality. pecking order has to be established amongst them, and corrections are expected.
Yes so true. 😊
Awesome! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! ❤️
I have the mindset and didn’t know what it was!!! People say I’m weird or acting old because I garden, work at a garden, quilt, like being around and learning from people who have lived life…seasoned saints. I’m really okay! I still may be weird or act old, but the things you listed are NOT the indicators lol😂. Thank you for normalizing my homesteaders heart ❤.
That's so awesome! I'm so glad it helped. Yes, you are normal. :) Thanks for commenting.
Hi
Hi 👋🏽
We are starting a garden. And I crochet. Yay! I can't wait!
Wonderful! I’m so happy for you!
Oh my goodness! I absolutely loved this interview! Thank you Dalia for reminding us that we look at flock dynamics through our human experience. I have one hen who is always at the bottom of the pecking order and always alone, no matter how many new flock members get introduced. I always feel so sorry for her and have literally lost hours of sleep trying to figure out how I can "fix" this. Thank you for reminding me that this is how things are within a flock and as long as they aren't injuring her, I have to be ok with this. Thank you for sharing your vast experience with others. Much love from Australia ❤
I’m so glad you enjoyed it. This was one of my favorite interviews. ❤️

In aquaponics, I'm pretty sure the plants are cleaning the water for the fish. So they are helping, but you still have to feed the fish ^-^'
Yes I’m pretty sure you’re right but I think the plants can feed them too. You know, I should have someone on the podcast to teach us about aquaponics! Thanks for the comment and the idea. 😁❤️
@@homesteadingforbeginners I look forward to seeing it! ^-^

Hi!
Thanks! Great tips
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Catnip plants work well. Hornworms hate them.
Great tip! Thanks for sharing!
Try planting catnip next to them, hornworms hate catnip.
Great tip! I have to try that next year!
Hello Jasmine. Nice seeing you. Thanks for the information.

I'm surprised you didn't include sewing/fiber skills such as spinning, weaving, knitting/crochet, etc.
Those are awesome skills. I love to crochet. There are lots of things that could have been added to the list. Maybe I should do a part two video 😊
Note on animals and small spaces, small living space often means close neighbours so keep noise levels in mind. Rabbit would be a better option and less messy plus good fertilizer for the garden. And if kept indoors i'd keep away from birds due to featherdust (danger to your longs) and a lot of normal houskeeping tasks can be dangerous to the birds longs.
Good points. Sometimes neighbors don’t mind especially if you bring them goodies like eggs and veggies. I’ve had many friends successfully have poultry and goats on a very small space. It really depends on where you live.
I would recommend coturnix quail, the hens in particular are practically silent & only need a good size hutch to live in :)
If you do a little thing your video can be reached infornt of the people
Thanks
Hey Mona I like your video and I also a subscriber of your channel
Thank you!
My only issue with soap making is clothing detergent. We also use cloth diapers, ans I’m completely ignorant as to natural sources of the enzymes needed to break down the waste on them. That and a degreaser for dish detergent.
Aquaponics sounds amazing. I’ve been considering raising minnows or guppies to feed my chickens, and I could double that as an aquaponics system!!
Have you tried cleaning white vinegar for cloth diapers? I think you put it in during final rinse cycle.
Yes that sounds like an awesome plan!
@@homesteadingforbeginners I use vinegar in the first wash cycle to deodorize actually (just the prefolds and doublers), but vinegar can be hard on elastics and TPU and actually voids THE warranty the brand covers I have.
Check out the flats challenge and maybe get some wool covers. There also are some good "laundry science" groups. Breaking down isn't the issue with CDs, it's removing all residues both for health of baby AND for absorbency. A dish soap like dawn can be good for stripping fibers but less than ideal for normal washing.

😊 Great knowledge. I have just subscribed to your channel 😊
Thank you and welcome!
Let it go and see what happens. It may surprise you.
I would have left it there but it’s right next to my peonies and I didn’t want to disturb them. But I did end up removing it. It was really jammed in there but I was able to keep the roots intact. It’s in a pot now looking kind of sad but hopefully it pops back up and makes it. I realized after I made this video I didn’t have any cherry tomato plants. 😁
