Blackpool and Fleetwood - Vintage Trams 1986
Просмотров 309Месяц назад
A nicely shot Super 8. Presumably an early Tram Sunday. I've been unable to sync up the sound, though this was all live running sounds, no commentary or anything to help us, though I'm sure tram enthusiasts will need little help! Nice shots of the tram sheds at the end of the reel. No illuminated trams I'm afraid! If I manage to get the sound sorted, I'll re-upload. I'm not responsible for the ...

From the collection of A E Scott. Seems to be 1970s though I don't have an exact date.
'The Visitor' - a little home-made comedy from the 60s.

This could be relevant today if the television set were replaced with module phones!

Very interesting and well-shot vintage commercial aviation home movie. Any further details welcome as the subject matter isn't one on which I am knowledgeable!

Apparently Bonfire Night in the 1960s - I've no idea when or where, but quite a nicely shot film.

Not sure of the year for this one, but nicely filmed and the cameraman was obviously keen on wildlife (with the possible exception of foxes, as the earlier scenes attest!)
Croydon and Brighton Belle 1972

A colour 8mm home movie. The reel was merely labelled 'Croydon 1972'. I'm not certain if this is the final run of the Brighton Belle, but it would make sense as an occasion to film. If anyone could offer more detail this would be appreciated.

Vintage Day at Brands Hatch, Easter Bank Holiday 1988
I remember going to Blackpool in 1986 in the summer holidays! I am so so lucky to have had the sheer joy of experiencing Blackpool though-out the 80s! The lights, the trams, the pleasure beach, the piers and all the big names at the end of the piers! Absolute magic memories. I feel so so sad for people that never got to experience Blackpool when I consider it at its best! Thank you for taking the time to share such magic footage!
It’s hard to watch this without thinking of the truly phenomenal spectacle that was the illuminations. This was the 60s so they didn’t have access to the technology we do today. Then you look at dismally pathetic and quite frankly, embarrassment that the illuminations have become today. Last time I was in Blackpool was the early 90s, the place was alive and aglow. We have RUclips today and I absolutely cringe when I see what Blackpool has become. Amazing footage, thank you for sharing something so so special!
Good days, I still go every year❤❤❤❤
Fab
My parents never understood my fascination with the goons
The seaside as a magic, about it..especially for children..who spots the tower first..donkey rides..brings back so many memories..lovely video.
Wonderful footage thank you for sharing x
According to Spike, this is a donkey braying, with the after-burner turned on. Should be played before, during and after every Donald Trump speech.
I remember this. Used to listen to it with my father back in the 50's. We sure loved our father-son goon sessions!
I was definitely there in 1960 . Stayed with relatives in Bispham every Seeptember Thanks for the memories
A contract requiring a party to commit a crime would be unenforceable. Otherwise this is hilarious stuff!
02:48 "Lanes Premier Amusements" ... 8 years later, in 1974, the entrance to the Blackpool Doctor Who Exhibition, complete with TARDIS, stood on this site! ... I also understand that the basement space used for the exhibition, was a nightclub in the 60's! EDIT: To enhance this silent film, I suggest dubbing on the "purring" sound of a film running through a projector, but not too loud, as that would be distracting.
I remember the Doctor Who Exhibition well from my young days. I did have music on these but fell foul of copyright - seems Reg Dixon is still marketable!
The illuminations were so much more colourful with globes From Starr gate to Bispham amazing The illuminates teams were eye catching especially the Rocket ship Thanks for the memories
"Illuminates teams" ... Damn you to hell, autocorrect! 🤣
Look how blue the sea is. Now it's brown.
That'll be the shi..... 🤣
Great vid, Wow so many memories of the past, I was amongst it and Would be 17/18 years old in 75, fab times👍
Brilliantly 🙂
Excellent footage Jim 🙂
Great to see this old footage. You've got a new subscriber 🙂👍
Poor donkeys/horses
Fantastic , I was 4 in 1965 and me and my sister mum and dad would go to Blackpool from Bolton on day trips every couple of weeks in the summer , this brings back great memories..... 👍
hi, great video, but where is it now? thought it was going to be restored, but all gone quiet,
Far as I know still in restoration - set back by Covid and unexpected problems, but definitely still a going concern.
Nice. Always love film from the days before drug culture and slob culture took over.
Donkey sound
Lovely memories ❤i would be 4 years old xx
Thanks for sharing I watch the channel walk on the wild side and he just did an illumination 2023 .. and Lovely to see this video .. look fantastic back then also
Promo sm 🙏
@HaverettesAllGirlsMarchingBand
Fantastic thanks for posting this video brings back many happy memories even though I was born in 1967, things were quite the same. I had an Aunt who moved to Blackpool from Sheffield (it was her dream to live in Blackpool!) I remember visiting and it always was so exciting and I wished we lived at the seaside!! 😊❤xxx
Fabolous old footage,liked and thanks...
Jim!thank you. this is nice edition~
This is wonderfully weird and funny in places. But Man!!! It is so gross to look at. Television was just (technologically) horrific back then. ☮
Thank you for putting this on, always went to Blackpool , Wakes week as kids. We always stayed central, and spent all day and every day on the beach by the central pier, unless it was raining, which it usually did at least once, then we would go to cinema that showed cartoons, bugs bunny and the like. It usually smelt of wet coats ,because everyone had the same idea 😂 Oh well, THAT'S ALL FOLKS.......😊
When you see the quality of some of this old cine film you realise what a backwards step VHS tape was ( in terms of quality and longevity for archiving).
Not so, my earliest surviving home video movies are 40 years old this year! They were long since digitised to computer files, but the original 40 year old Betamax tapes still play perfectly, and the picture quality is far BETTER than this cine film, and it has sound too! ... My more modern recordings are digital with Hi-Fi stereo sound, and some are 1080P High Definition ... They're in a different league to this cine film!
Loved The Goons, still do. HATED The Telegoons, horrible grotesque puppets, really scary for a small child.
It's a far, far, better place I go to . . . than American TV.
Absolutely love the Blackpool films from the 70s! thankyou so much
Love these old videos of Blackpool, so many happy memories
British Television... is kind of odd, isn't it? O.o
Es lo más perturbador que llegué a ver!. Aterrador!..."" 😲😬
Sad that street bonfires now rare
Are you in Bristol?
Loads of footage of std.8 looking better than Super 8
It often does. Always wondered if having a proper pressure plate in the camera made a difference.
@@jimexley8341 single 8 has a good look it has pressure plate in the camera
@@charlesloukas1946 Wish I could find a DS8 back for my Elmo C300, I might remortgage and give it a go!
@@jimexley8341 one of Elmos could take 100 ft. Of double 8 like the bolex H8
@Charles Loukas That is the C300. Backs for Standard, Single, Super and 100ft of Double Super 8.
I thought puppets were scary
Please More goon shows full length
This looks to be the old boating pool area where the formulakart go-kart track is now. It's on the north shore by Cabin tram stop and the lift to the shore level.
This is just creepy to watch it back in black and white style.
At one time I had all the gun shows all the gun radio shows on a flash drive unfortunately when I moved out of my house I lost them on all those old radio shows were just superb
((Don't ask me how I came across this at 32... I have a very weird life 😂🤣)) Am I the only one wondering where these puppets are now?
verey good *****
could this that been a influence for Gerry Anderson , but this is quite surreal and in many ways avante grande
