Does this still Work ? Cant find IT in Grasshopper ?
This video shows a workflow using Ladybug 0.0.59 and Honeybee 0.0.56. These Rhino plugins are still available at www.food4rhino.com/en/app/ladybug-tools?lang=en. I haven't specifically tested it, but I suspect this workflow would still work for any of the versions noted as [Legacy Plugins], the last one being Ladybug 0.0.69 and Honeybee 0.0.66. This specific workflow is unlikely to work using the latest Ladybug Tools, but you can still take the principles discussed in the video and make your own templates.
Nice video, it helped me a lot. I have a question, if you can answer it I'd be really gratefull: if I set the value "2" in the control_type of the Window Contruction, I'm considering the value of the Orizontal Solar Radiation (W/m2) inside the room or outside the window? Thanks
Control Type 2 (On if high horizontal solar) controls the blinds based on the exterior horizontal radiation. You can find full documentation in the EnergyPlus Input Output Reference: bigladdersoftware.com/epx/docs/9-4/input-output-reference/group-thermal-zone-description-geometry.html#field-shading-control-type
thanks very helpful tutorial to understand add string and how it work . i really like it. i 'm looking for another advanced honeybee measures and how it work . thanks very much
Hi Prof. Bredon Levitt, can I have your email so I can ask you something about energy simulation?
If you have questions, I'd encourage you to post at unmethours.com. It is a great resource and there are a lot of active users there.
@@BrendonLevitt thank you Prof. Bredon Levitt
Hello, I have a question about the heat limit. Is it per room or for the whole building?
Air temperature is controlled per thermal zone according to the thermostat assigned to the HVAC system. In Honeybee, each "room" is typically a unique thermal zone with its own HVAC system and thermostat.
You are amazing
rewelacja 👍
Dear Professor, I am very glad to get in touch with you. I have followed your youtube and learned the method of simulating future climate data, which is very helpful to my research. However, in the step of (3) morphing data, my program also reported errors to solar radiation data, but the problem window I encountered was different from what you demonstrated, and the data could not be automatically repaired. So that I have been unable to successfully get the deformed data and successfully export, I would like to ask if you have a further solution! Your reply will be of great help to me, looking forward to your reply!

Good job, may i have the model ?
I have a zones with minimum ventilation requirements and also heating and cooling setpoints. I have a Rooftop AHU combined with a heatpump to meet the heating, cooling and ventilation demand of the zones. I have no natural ventilation. How should I go about modelling this in HB?
Hey. Thanks for the video. I am curious about the dcv. It just follows a dummy data from occupancy or it follows the ventilation schedule? I mean, dcv can change the rate of ventilation based on ventilation schedule?
In real life, Demand-Controlled Ventilation is controlled by CO2 sensors. In energy modeling it's common to use occupancy as a proxy for CO2 (though there are ways of simulating CO2 accumulation more directly). The DCV that Honeybee uses is occupancy-based. The ventilation flowrate is tied to the number of people in the zone. In addition to this (or in lieu of this), you can set up ventilation that follows some other logic. I've got two additional videos in this series that might be of interest (ruclips.net/video/f7S4X7dRw9w/видео.html) and (ruclips.net/video/GbRYCk70B30/видео.html).
Hey. Thanks for the video. Can you share the python script you wrote?
Check out 11:08-13:34 in the video. It shows the script.
Hello Brendon. I am using an Ideal Loads HVAC System in EnergyPlus. Since it's an ideal system does that mean that my end uses are equal to my energy demands (COP=1)? I am trying to evaluate my model's results...
You are correct - the Ideal Loads System matches the demand. For more information about COP, check out the next video in the series. ruclips.net/video/KBAp0txhJCI/видео.html
@@BrendonLevitt Thank you very much for your help and immediate response. I really appreciate it!
Could you post the original script somewhere? Would be very useful!
Thank you for this video. Really gained a lot from it 😊. Do you know how to program for the hygrothermal properties of natural earthen materials (i.e. clay) in honeybee?
I believe that EnergyPlus (which is the thermal engine behind Honeybee) only accounts for latent heat that is transferred directly among masses of air. I don't think it calculates moisture migration from air to materials or vice versa. I'd recommend looking at WUFI for hygrothermal transfer over time (wufi.de/en/).
great video, How did you get the custom output variable. I think you have some python scripting there. Can you help me with that, I need to see when and how much windows are opening. Thnks :)
I cover this in Tutorial 2.1: ruclips.net/video/Cxoo9Kpoyyg/видео.html
@@BrendonLevitt Very thanks for the quick reply. Also you tutorials are really helpful to understand how thinks work. thanks again

Greetings from Peru, Brendon. Thanks for this new series!
Thank you Brendon, this was really helpful. I appreciate the caveat : only simple models are supported. Hoping ironbug functionality is added in the future.
Can i contact you via email? Thank you
Hello Brendon, thank you very much for the tutorials. I would like to ask which Ladybug, Honeybee, OpenStudio and EnergyPlus versions did you used while making this tutorial? I tried to follow the whole series but I am facing some compatibility issues.
Hey Brendon, Great video and work How do you define a custom EP material ? Something not part of the list.
Can you explain about "fitting point" for climate data? what it mean?
Hi Brendon, I tried following this video to create a honeybee zone with windows. I made it up to the point where all of the surfaces are plugged in to the HoneyBee_createHBzones component with everything working fine. However, when I try to plug my surfaces in to create a full zone instead of producing a closed Brep it just says the defined value is 'null'. Is there any reason you can think of that this would be happening? (This question is in reference to around 11:24 of this video)
It could be that your surfaces do not form a fully enclosed volume or that you have non-convex geometry. As a test, I suggest that you create a simple box in Rhino and then explode it. This will assure that all surfaces touch and that they are convex. Once you've done this and are sure that everything is working properly you can move on to more complex forms. Good luck!
@@BrendonLevitt Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. I will give that a go.
Hey i follwed your tutorial but I couldn't find the idf file or energy plus folder created in the specified location.
Thank you for this helpful walk-through!
hi brendon.....i have some issue with running the file....it dosent shows anything after connection it to the run energy simulation and to read ep file it says that .csv file is not with the .eio file
Hi Brendon, Thanks for your description ! it's very helpful! In case of 4 separate windows on 1 surface, how to assign them to be all in 1 Breb? Thanks in advance, Raed
Right click on BRep in GH and click "Set Multiple Breps" then select all windows on the face. Be careful, though, because this will assign all windows to be the same material. If they should be distinct materials they need to be separate components.
I did what you did exactly except in "Set Multiple Breb"! In first Breb in grasshopper was added all windows as you said but in the last Breb mentions only one window.
Hi Brendon! I'm having an issue related to EnergySimPar. My version (E+ 8.8.0) doesn't have the terrain function. Where can I find it?
In Version 0.0.62 of Honeybee, the terrain variable is the second from the bottom in the EnergySimPar component.
Hi, Brendon. I'm Camila, from Brazil. I'm in the end of my graduation of archtecture and urbanism ... I'm using EnergyPlus to simulations so I use the results in my term paper. I'm commenting in this video because in the ones about EnergyPlus we are not free to comment. So..I'm having some problems with my simulation..and I don't know how to solve them, and I have to finish it until next week..trying to get some help anywhere. I would like to know if you could help me..it's my graduation..I would be eternally grateful! My e-mail is camilagsoft@gmail.com
Hello, I tried to use the component and I got the warning '1. Solution exception:Cannot create instances of Brep because it has no public constructors'. Would you know what that means?
Sorry, but I'm not sure what this error means and I haven't been able to replicate your results.
Hey Brendon, I've followed your instructions and double checked twice, but when i get the the results i dont get 6 outputs like you do in tutorial 3, i only get 3, heating, electric light and electric equipment, do you know why? :P
Hi Ole. It's strange that you're getting a heating output but no cooling output. Check your HVAC system to make sure that it has cooling. You can also check the EPOutput component and make sure that zoneEnergyUse is set to True.
hola. como puedo cambiar el modo de ver los datos de horas a meses?
There is a monthly bar chart visualization built in to Ladybug. Go to 2 | VisualizeWeatherData and you should see "Ladybug_Monthly Bar Chart."
