Charente is a department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, which neighbors the Dordogne, Gironde, Poitou and Saintonge. The coastal land nearby is in the Charente-Maritime department. Together these two departments create the "Charente region", although this is not an administrative boundary. On this channel we'll be focusing on all of these areas of southwest France.
