358: Love Is For Those Who Love the Work
Просмотров 8514 дней назад
AI was supposed to do our chores while we write prose and compose symphonies. Why is it composing our music and writing our books now, while WE do the chores? As software founders, we have a special responsibility - after all, we're the ones crafting a new reality of AI empowerment. But here's the thing: an AI does not love its work. It can't. And that's a problem. Today, I'll dive into how we ...

The name "Arvid Kahl" can be broken down into its components for analysis: ### Arvid: - **Origin**: Scandinavian (primarily Swedish and Norwegian). - **Meaning**: "Arvid" derives from Old Norse *Arnviðr*, which combines *arn* (eagle) and *viðr* (tree or forest). It translates to something akin to "eagle of the forest" or "eagle tree." ### Kahl: - **Origin**: Germanic. - **Meaning**: "Kahl" is a German surname and word. In German, it means "bald" or "bare." As a surname, it could have referred to someone living in a sparsely vegetated area or described a physical characteristic. **Overall Interpretation**: The name "Arvid Kahl" could symbolize strength and adaptability, with the imagery of an eagle soaring in a forest (Arvid) paired with a grounded simplicity or openness (Kahl).
Sure, why not. 🤣
@@TheBootstrappedFounder :))))
@@TheBootstrappedFounder You know yourself to have Scandinavian origin?
I’m in a similar solo-entrepreneur journey. I’ve been spinning my wheel exploring different use cases of this engine that I built. As a solo-founder, this phase is just brutal, and every little response feels like a huge signal pulling you in every direction. I had systematically started “firing” test customers now, and decided the fastest way to iterate and learn about my solution is to become my own customer. So, from next year I am starting my reverse recruiting agency! Thanks for the great episode, it would be fascinating to hear more about how you navigated these earlier troubled waters, the ideas, how you tested them etc.
Who is here end of 2024 after watching Greg Isenburgs interview with Jacky Chou?
This was such an awesome podcast! I loved the philosophical angle on all the AI chaos that's happening around us and the way you described our daily experience as developers and builders. Chef's kiss!
Thank you so much! 🥰
Love is definetly for those who love the work.. Amen. Treat others as an end. AMEN*2 I've just finished listening to your podcast interview with Greg Isenberg and it was the first time listening to you randomly. I resonate with you because we think the same way, you litterally finish my sentences stuff like that haha. Happy to land here, a new mentor and a lot of content (Ai content 🧐 ?) to consume I love your craft and mindset and even this kind of esoteric philosophy is pure gold. Cheers #first
Haha, I appreciate it :D I'll try keeping AI as an end, and never just a means when it comes to my weekly stuff 🤣 Glad to have you around!
Should i just search for random communities online?
Wtf is indie hacking
Congratulations on _waiting until it was needed_ before you did this optimization. You mention it’s been on your to-do list for a long time, and premature optimization here would have been a real productivity killer. (Paddle peddler 😉)
Amazing doucheFace thumbnail! Clearly intelligent people click stupid face thumbnails because everyone knows looking like an idiot and doing exactly the same as everybody else is a clear sign that your content must be amazing! 😂
Really disappointed to hear that there's no future in making AI wrappers.
Excellent content
Its interesting they refer to it as a 'pet rock project' in an attempt to diminish it, when the original 'Pet Rock' was a WILDLY successful project that made the inventor a millionaire in a time when 1 million was still a LOT of money.
The email anti-abuse is so over-engineered that it is very hard to host your email server and have emails sent through it be accepted. Which forces use of the larger established email providers. This is not good.
Love your stuff Arvid! I have a very devastating thing to tell you: the blue banner on the bottom of your thumbnail is at a lower height on the right side of your head compared to the rest 😂
lol 🤣
Thanks!
Nice episode, I liked the prompt techniques. I've had good experiences running full codebase AI with Claude Projects, I have a video on my channel if you'd like to try it out!
another great one Arvid - but I miss your face videos. Podcasts are good, and I know why you are going down this road - given the breadth of platforms you can publish to, but videos create a better connection IMO.
All of this is new to me. Super glad I found this.
definitely AI is a game changer for a solo dev ... limitations will disappear one by one with time ... forget PHP/Laravel in the new AI world ... it's all Python with some framework
why it's all Python?
Tweets clickbait and then complains that people use it as clickbait :D
lol at the five year life span.
11:00 big company vs lifestyle business 28:50 making more money than most people can ever imagine having 31:00 still not being healthy even after the acquisition
Thank u both
Oh nice hashing technique!!!
A million minutes? Divide that by 1000 accounts and you can have an intern download the dataset in a single day
10 months later and now Pieter is talking to Lex about how cool is to do indie hacking
Hey Arvid, incredible value here, thank you. I find this more digestible and wise than other big SaaS entrepreneur/creators. Just got your audiobook too. One question - what is this you mention about SayIt or Hyphe Index - around 12:13 in the video. I am not seeing these on Google. Thank you!
Thanks!
Was this justa clickbait title?
very Nice
I think you got too big/famous, and actually hurting your pocket. Like all the tech people have their eyes on you, which I'm not sure it's something I would like to have. I want customers eyes, and less competition eyes.
First time listener, will definitely be subscribing. Such an interesting and controversial topic, especially when compared from the perspective of development vs. business. You explain the nuances really well and as a developer myself, I tend to agree with you that following the standards (e.g. those provided for HTTP) and being a “good netizen” is the best path forward. Love the candidness of your business operations and even some technical breakdowns, great info all around. Thanks for sharing!
is his last name really levels
Important and provocative topic. As always, the pod was thoughtful and considerate.
There is a fundamental problem with ownership and value of info; It's a problem (1) of mentality, exploitation vs mutual benefit; and (2) making do with what's available, vs fit for purpose tech and media that does not yet exist.
What's missing in your opinion? As someone on the tech side of things, I'm always looking for solution-shaped holes in the market ;)
It doesn't help that every website renders data differently. Using headless browsers or an entire Puppeteer setup is wasteful in terms of bandwidth, but it's often necessary. I do run a local cache on my network for images and videos when doing Puppeteer scraping. Large scrapers are designed for scale, but they remain inefficient. A crawler finds all possible links and then spins up multiple browsers to hit them. However, this becomes problematic if there's a session management system that auto-bans when it detects the same session hitting multiple URLs at once. For example, I have a website with a Honeypot crawler link. If an LLM or automated crawler hits it, it gets fed with completely fake data. It directs them to a subdomain with a wildcard (*) record, generating around 100,000 fake URLs that don’t exist, wasting their time as they try to resolve them. If you need help protecting your API or website, I’m happy to assist. I work in AI Security with a focus on malware development, but I can also lend a hand as a full-stack developer.
It’s a little bit weird not to see Arvid in front of the camera))
Yeah, while building Podscan, I rarely find time to actually get dressed 🤣 So I thought, hey, it's this or no videos at all :D
@@TheBootstrappedFounder Better something than nothing) Depending on a situation I might listen you in my Overcast(podcasts app), sometimes re-listen in Spotify, but in most cases just look here in RUclips. Even 2-3 times))
At about 44:00, I was waiting for them to say "Oh well, adn actually we kill photographer's jobs with that.." 😅😂😂😂
I'm surprised ruby on rails isn't mentioned more in the indi hacking space. it seems tailor-made (you can spin up a crud app in a few template commands)
Do you consider you have to have a solid programming background to start this kind of bootstrapped businesses, AI businesesses? Or no-code options is worth a shot?
Well your channel is though
poor marks on the interviewer for not getting indie hacking defined before launching into a big tirade about how it fits in if you don't know what it is you're completely lost
Noted! For anyone wondering, indie hacking is the act of building independent software businesses, usually bootstrapped without outside funding, run by a solopreneurial developer.
Maybe add the acquired link in the description?
Great interview with my compatriot @marc-lou! 🇫🇷 @arvid, your enthusiasm and passion really come across the screen, and makes for a compelling conversation! Keep going!

I see you...
