POV 6a lead climb - when you can't reach change feet
Great attempts. You got your fall practice in as well. Keep it up.
Thanks, will do!
Nice job!! I totally screwed up a 5.9 on lead. It had a lot of under clings.
Thanks! This competition we had a lot of routes requiring compression on the overhang with holding onto the under cling. My back was not happy about sending those in succession 😅
Your clips are really clean.
Thank you! Except the last one right? 😁😁
You should be very proud of this sent. Hard route 👏👏👏
I am! Thanks man!
How I hate struggling to clip at the top hold 😅 Probably one of my least favorite experiences.
Me too, I really thought I'm gonna fall there 😅
looks like a hard mantle
It was, I was never able to get it. I wish the boulder was still there to try it more but it's gone now.
Awesome you're documenting your journey of improvement. Leading is such a rewarding style. I've watched a few of your videos. I noticed you tend to froggy style a lot, which will tire you out faster. Consider focusing on your technique and incorporating things like laybacks, flags, high knees and drop knees. These will also help you keep your hips closer to the wall. I don't know if you boulder at all, but it's a nice complement to training for Lead climbing. Keep at it 🤙🏻
I really like climbing and wanna get the best I can be! Yes, I do not think I use enough of the techniques you mentioned. I do bouldering as a form of power training but recently the lead competition is taking all the time we have in the gym! Thanks!
Your gym allows you to clip just one of the anchors once you've topped? I think it would be good for your development if you took less and risked a fall instead. (Definitely don't grab another climb's holds.) Gym falls are very safe :)
The gym rules does not say anything about clipping two anchors as far as I'm aware. Obviously they are provided and both should be used as a good practice. Hahah, yeah, if I don't feel like I wanna push hard then I would just grab the other holds instead of taking a fall. Having said that, not that we started a lead series competition we are trying really hard to get more points so there will be more falls and pushing out of the comfort zone! Thanks for watching!
👍🏻🦾
Keep it up and get better every week forever!
5.10 for sure 0:20
We think it was close to between 5.10b and 5.10c but I would need to climb it again to confirm, I'm not sure I was reading it right.
@@BetterEveryWeekForever 5.10b/c feels right
@@BetterEveryWeekForever I've never seen your content, keep it going dude!
Thanks for watching!
That is a very friendly 6a+
Yeah, I think so! It wasn't too difficult but definitely level above 6a
You did great on this one. It's not as easy as you say it is.
Haha, thanks mate! Let's keep it up and get to the finals!
I’ve been to scared to go for certain moves too.
Yeah, it gets us all sometimes 😅
good job man☝️👍
Thanks !
Is that eminem???
Nope, I don't think so
@@BetterEveryWeekForeveryeah no I know haha I was JK he really looks like him though hahaha
That second to last clip probably would have been a bunch easier if you had done the next move first. Most route setters do "nice" clipping positions, so if it feels awkward, you probably haven't gone far enough.
Ah so that's what that was! I was thinking to myself I need to train clipping in awkward positions, this seems to happen often recently for me
@@BetterEveryWeekForever It took (and still takes) me a good bit of convincing to not clip as soon as I can physically reach the next quickdraw, but rather when I have a nice stable position. The (quite logical) advice I got myself is, it's perfectly fine and safe to clip just at hip height - since any point earlier you'll just take out more slack, and should you fall while clipping above you, you're gonna actually fall farther than if you'd just climbed on for 1 or 2 more moves. Just very conciously hammering that into my head and clipping "late" on easy routes at least got me farther in that habit. I hope you don't mind advice from someone who can just about onsight 5b and still is very scared about lead climbing any old 6a or higher. 😅
Thanks, I appreciate all advice! This is in fact what I am trying to do and say to myself on some easier climbs (if I remember about it) and then as soon as the difficulty increases, it's hard to listen to the right voice in my head 😅. We've done some fall practice before to unlock the psyche and get rid of the fear of falling but yeah the clipping timing is still something I need to remember to practice more. Stay strong and safe!
Change or remove the music, also the video starts at 1:50, that 1/4 total of the length
What's wrong with the music? Yes, the climbing starts at 1:50 😁
@@BetterEveryWeekForever Such a close send, now I want a follow up of you sending it! I think hey mean that the music might be too loud, I don't really have a opinion, I'm just observing. Hope you can resend this and complete it!
@snorly1584 I will have to do it again. This time full send 💪
Your gym has alpha sports??
I'm not sure they are alpha sports, they do look like them, but are attached with quick links instead.
Still greet job. I had to bail on a 5.9.
Thanks! I think I was just not trusting my left hand 😅 What's 5.9 in French scale? I always get lost with YDS
\/\/
Thanks for watching!
Those top biners aren't redundant and could allow for a follow/top rope. I know you just lowered, and have all your clips below, but that's a liability on the gym's side.
Aren't they redundant when you have two of them opposite and opposed? Or do you mean they are only attached to one anchor point? I would prefer a locking one for top roping but we were not planning on doing that in any case.
@@BetterEveryWeekForever they’re both attached to only one point of the metal hanger. There should 2 permadraws hanging from each attachment.
Ah ok, I see what you mean. Arguably, we should be attached to two different metal hangers to be truly redundant. 😁
@@BetterEveryWeekForever What’s the name of this gym? I’m looking at the top ropes and they’re just through a single quick link 😱
@tracecarrasco3872 it's big rock bond, the best gym!
Beautiful route and beautifully done
Thanks for pushing me to try it again!
Well done ! We tried that on the weekend and couldn’t flash it. Will keep working on it this week.
Thanks! This was my second attempt so not a flash. Keep working on it and surely you'll send it! Stay strong and safe!
Keep working bro much love❤💪🏻
Thanks so much! Stay strong 💪
Nice work! Haven't been on this one yet .....look's good!
Thanks! These footholds are treacherous!
Good effort 👏👏
Thanks man! For the tips as well 😊
Gopd stuff man.
Thanks! I appreciate it! Trying to be better every week forever 😁

What do you mean? Thanks for watching!
That looks sad and lonely. You need a belayer 😢
I absolutely agree! Where have you been?
what do the little tags with a hand on mean half way up the climb?
These designate zone holds for which you get points in competitions.
what gym is this? i recognise it
It's Big Rock 💪

Yes, I can beat 86. So can you :)
I've done max 103 so far 💪💪
Nice job. I haven’t used my ohm for awhile. I do like it.
I don't think we have used ohm at all actually
Slab v3s feel like v5s
I absolutely agree with you!
very swag ascent. wanna try/10
I don't know what you mean by that, but thanks for watching!
awesome!! keep making more of these videos, I learned a couple moves from you in this one!!
Thanks! Will do!
Your belayer is also pretty smooth.
He's the best belayer 😊
Nice work.
Thanks man!
you're doing great 👍
Thank you! 😃
Great job pushing yourself. 💪
Thanks man!
Enjoyed this route.. but on another note.. who was belaying the person on top rope 20 metres from the wall 😂
Haha, I don't know what was going on with that top rope there 😅
Clipped both carabiners 🙂
Haha, I think so yeah 😅
You've done so good on this one
Thanks! I think I could still make it smoother!
I been there
Hey! Me too 😅
Nice job!!
Thanks!
Nice job getting that clean … really struggled on the top section as I’ve seen others do
Cheers! I was so confused at the top as to what to do but just went for it!
Yeah i found this one real hard its not often you see a crack like that in a gym fun boulder though
It was really hard for me to get it, I've never finished it...
Did you try the orange on the same line?
No, I don't think I did. I think I'll get it on Saturday 💪
Nice I do v3 I think its good for my age I'm 13
That's really good, well done 👏
Damn thats hardI'm 13 and do v3
Awesome! If you stay consistent you'll be able to climb way harder than V3! Stay strong 💪
