Bravi tutti! The tempos are a bit fast for my taste (after the opening) but Paavo is always convincing! Love the fluidity of tempo in the "Pie Jesu" especially- Bravo, Maestro! 🙌

The opening of Der Abschied always gives me the chills. Its devastating. There can't be a happy ending after that. We can pray for acceptance at best.

Brilliant! It's VERY rare for a soloist and conductor that understands this monumental work! Brilliant!

Certainly the worst interpretation I have ever heard. I stopped at the 1st movement coz it was more than enough. This slow pace style (instead of allegro con brio) with the many rallentandi never asked by the composer is sooooo damn boring. Takes away all the impetus of this magnificent symphony. This guy should never direct an orchestra like the Wiener Philharmoniker.

I wonder how the hell can musicians follow this conductor's gestures...

Thanks a lot for the upload. I wish tech. was developed enough to make it possible for vocal works to be uploaded with subtitles in the original language and at least in English. This is one of those works which doesn't mean much when you just listen it without following the lyrics.

Its extraordinary that a man with a serious hearing impairment wrote such a masterpiece. I like to think the 2nd movement was his reaction to the world around him while battling his own emotions.
