For those of you who let their mailbox get full so your callers hear: “the party you’re trying to reach .. mailbox is full”. .Not nice. You could be missing something very, very important. And it’s a big turn off to the caller. Suggestion: Clean up the voicemail box.!

I was a call center agent for some years and then a trainer. Before taking a call, I would always have the notepad opened on my computer and be ready to type in it. It's no secret that when a call comes in, the person will throw out a lot of information at you very quickly and being ready to type whatever you can identify as most relevant will change the whole call dynamics. In this example, (0:34) I would've typed "Nancy Freidman saint louis MI disneyland lost wallet". Not only now do you have their name and even a partial address (which could help you find their file), you also wrote down disneyland which is amazing to connect with your caller while you work on something. Making a caller repeat whatever information they already provided you is sure to add weight on the negative experience side of the scale.

I like that you do a sandwich method of starting with accountability/honesty and then thanking. I have seen a wave of thought going around social media in the last few years that instead of apologizing - thank people instead. I disagree with it. If someone thanks me for waiting but didn't first apologizing for misusing my time, it makes me more frustrated.
Honesty goes a long way in building a relationship, doesn't it?
I like this expression "Tone of Face." I hadn't heard this term before, and this is a great way to think about it!
Tone of face was created BT Telephone Doctor customerservice training years ago. Glad you like it.
i used to apologize first for putting him/her on hold then used to say thankyou for the patience
before i watch this video i used to say ' i will put you on the hold while i check your information and come back to you , ok ? booom answer is yesss :))
