    Last year, with the 3-ton excavator, I cleared the snow from the access road to my neighbour's cottage, which was buried under more than 3 feet of compacted snow. I started by removing the top layer with the ditch bucket, then I finished with the front blade. Not only was the work done quickly, but it was above all very pleasant to do.

    Try to not use insulation displacement connectors. Very troublesome/undependable. Also wire nuts should not be used on mobile equipment, or stranded wire. Ok for solid conductors and stationary use. To use the pvc coated crimp connectors I like to remove the pvc sleeve and turn it into a non-insulated crimp connector and use heat shrink to finish the job, or just buy the non-insulated term. The spade connectors you used were ok. Best not to pull power from old fuse boxes. Make new power distribution/fuses up by the battery. Just an old man with a few suggestions.

    The problem is you were missing some parts. The original carb was a Holley with a governor--It had what we mechanics called a "mouse trap" on the carb lever--notice the carb now is a regular Holley with the original governed lever on it, but part has been removed--see the weird gap between where the lever attaches to carb and where the linkage rod attaches. That's why it didn't work right. You did fine re-engineering that one! FYI the old "mouse trap" was a pain in my ass back in the eighties when I first started--nobody told me to only pull on the rod to rev it up!! They all got a good laugh when I grabbed the carb lever and the trap popped!! scared me and is a pain in the ass to reset it!!

  • @tedstclair7145

    The 366 does NOT have 300 HP!!!! Also with the 366 you probably would not ever notice the secondary side of carb until you hit high RPM--and by high RPM I mean about the last 200 RPM you should ever try to turn a 366

    • @Tanner30657

    It doesn’t do too bad but nothing like a skid steer with a snow plow attachment. I’ve thought about the mini excavator but they really are only good for digging but they do it well. I think I’m going to go with the skid steer instead due to all the attachments it has.

    • @Tanner30657
      @Tanner30657 2 года назад

      Yeah nothing beats a skidsteer for that kind of work. I had to make the choice between the two as well. And decided the mini ex was best for my use. Just have to sacrifice in some areas! I have since bought a very small skidsteer for plowing as it was a painful task in the excavator.

    I have a 1985 c70 same engine. Any thoughts why it would keep trying to run after the ignition is shut off? Also my two speed rear doesn’t like to engage when splitting after a certain speed is that a worn actuator gear? Just hear loud clicking.

    • @Tanner30657
      @Tanner30657 3 года назад

      When you say keep trying to run after you turn off the ignition, are you referring to a few second chug a lug until it dies? I have noticed recently on my truck occasionally when I go to shut it off it will run for a few seconds after that for what ever reason. I have not diagnosed it yet. And the two speed not engaging, is that when you are up or down shifting? I know if if it doesn't idle down enough it will not engage when shifting to high, but you will also get a loud ratcheting clicking sound when you shift to low, and you have to mash the gas and rev it up until it reaches proper rpm and it will catch. Also I have noticed to never hit the 2 speed if you are in neutral or shifting between gears, only once you are in a gear with clutch out then you shift the 2 speed. Otherwise occasionally it will get lost and start a loud clicking and won't engage until you come to a stop. Hope this helps you out.

    • @justincirrincione5090
      @justincirrincione5090 3 года назад

      Yea my mine will keep “dieseling” after the ignition is off until I put it in gear and let out on the clutch. I’ve researched a little and some say it’s timing and others say carb issue. I figured I’d ask. As for the rear end. It’s like what you said where I have to come to a stop or slow down significantly till it catches. Usually after I try to split and shifting from third high to 4th low. Could be operator error. Lol

    • @Tanner30657
      @Tanner30657 3 года назад

      I'd be more inclined to believe it is timing related, only tends to do it after I'm using it a good bit, never did it at first but I did play with the timing to try and get a bit more power, which worked. Now it doesn't turn off right away some times just havnt looked into it yet. And yeah as far as the 2 speed goes when I shift from 3 high to 4 low I'd make the shift in 4 high technically, I'd push the switch and rev it up kind of all at the same time, (I don't typically use the clutch shifting up) ive tried hitting the switch mid shift so once I let the clutch out I'm right in 4 low, but it won't re-enguage like I feel it should. Keep playing around trying different tricks. I was worried my 2 speed was messed up when I started using it, I figured that's why it was unhooked when I bought the truck. Just took me awhile to get the hang of it, now I can cruise through all the gears high and low pretty smoothly.

    • @justincirrincione5090
      @justincirrincione5090 3 года назад

      Okay I will try that! Thank you for your input. Great videos keep em coming!

    • @alm7707
      @alm7707 2 года назад

      The timing is advanced too much, the truck is running too hot or the engine idle speed is too high. Maybe all 3. If you have the vacuum shift (Vac pot on rear diff) you might have a vacuum leak. Electric shift (electric motor on rear diff) could be out of oil or contact switch inside is burnt. Check oil level at the small plug on the front of the 2 speed box. Should be shifting instructions on sun visor, read these too.

    An easier fix would be to reposition the throttle linkage lever by the firewall, by loosening the nut and moving the leverage forward more. And if you look closely, the little knob that fits through the linkage on the carb can be moved back, via threads or set screw. No welding. No fabricating. GM had some screwy setups now and then, but I can damn sure guarantee you that the position of things prior to your McGyverism was not factory. Of all things adjustable, the carb and linkage is one of them.

    • @Tanner30657
      @Tanner30657 2 года назад

      If there was an easier route I would have taken it. The lever by the fire wall had already been broken off/ cut shorter and was no longer factory so there was no adjusting it back to "factory". I had to add back on to it. I had already adjusted the knob that connects to the carberater, but being the lever by the firewall was shortened for what ever reason it couldnt provide enough leverage to transfer my little bit of gas pedal travel into the amount of movement required to open the carb all the way. When I did make adjustments to the original setup the gas pedal was leaned back towards the driver probably close to 70° and took about 6 inches of gas pedal movement to get almost full throttle on the carb. After my "mcgyverism" I can now go from an idle to full throttle in about a 3 inch motion on the pedal, and it sits at the proper angle and is comfortable to drive now. Had to be done!
