Going up Mt Antero on day 2 of riding in Buena Vista, CO. Like and comment!
What parking lot were you guys using in the beginning? Trying to park and drop bikes in black hawk is impossible
I don’t remember what it was called
Dude what kind of rear tires are you running on the other two bikes????
I had Dunlop MX52s on the KX and I believe Conti Attack on the DRZ
They should make a 2.5 gallon tank instead of a bs shroud over the tank....
No more update after this you get scared or what
Sadly this riding season was super busy with work and I only went 3 times. I’ll post some more vid though
It's alway nice to see videos on the CRF450X as most RUclips videos are on the 450L/RL. In no way am l critiquing you because l see Honda dealers advertise the 450X as a "trail bike" which it is, but this is a desert race bike. Going back to 1997, Team Honda has won the iconic Baja 1000 24 of the past 26 years. Honda had the XR600R which became the infamous XR650R only to be replaced by the 450X. The 450X was completely updated in 2019 by adding fuel injection and the much wanted 6th gear. The 2021 and '22 model are exactly the same with the exception of the production date. I'm a Honda guy and have two 450X's. I'd highly recommend adding a SicAss key switch as my 450X was stolen last year (thief used bolt cutters and scissors to cut the tow straps). He pushed it over the side of my truck and walked it away but left it at a local business because he wasn't able to start it without a key.
Awe man that’s such a bummer! Sorry to hear that. That’s one of the reasons I made a couple of videos about the CRF 450X - because hardly any existed and I knew there had to be other guys with the bike that love it as much as I do.
Can't get these in Australia. Not for years. Honda finally stops being lazy like all the other Jap manufacturers, and puts a 6 speed in there, which would be PERFECT for Australia.....but no. Lets only have the R and the RX. The RX is over 14k to buy one here though, with no lights, and a 5 speed. It wont sell. Overpriced and under specced. The they will say they aren't going to bring them in because they don't sell. DUHHH. How many years have people been begging for an X with a 6 speed gearbox! Sigh. Might have to buy a Pumpkin or a Swede. Yamaha is just as bad with their WR450f. Great bike, 5 speed gearbox. :(
The engine maps on the RX are good! The aggressive map is brutal.
How about taking it outside before filming? 🤦♂️
It's a parking lot so the video would have gotten interrupted a lot
Wow. Still not too loud. Amazing.
Wait there's no key? Can it easily be stolen?
No key! Yes it could be. It’s for trails not street so it’s like any other dirt bike
please enable spanish subtitles
Thumbs down for ads
Don't have any control over that
Hello, I am interested by this bike for the 6 speeds and electric starter, what's about maintenance ? Is it more spaced or like a standard crf with each 5-10 hours traditionnal works...
The maintenance on it is much easier. The manual actually bases it on miles, not hours. It is 500 miles I believe but you can ride a long time without needing to change the oil. My only complaint is the air filter is hard to clean because of how tight it is to get in and get the screw on to hold it. Other than that, this bike is awesome when it comes to maintenance.
What age rider's is this best for?
Honda lists no age limit for it. It is intended for higher speed cross country riding as opposed to constant acceleration and braking of a motocross bike.
Somebody with experience on different bikes. It has power of a 450 but power is linear but it's a little heavier than a race bike. I bought a 2022 and I love it but you have to watch it in slow stuff rocks etc
The 6 speed is a HUGE selling point! It's the number 1 reason I prefer it over the RL, RX, or WE.
I love it! All bikes should have it!
The RX with a 5 speed has a narrower engine. The slimmer width is noticeable. It will still cruise (with harshness! ) at 95 kph.
Bike get any battle scars or scratches ?
I just cracked the speedometer screen but it wasn’t bent at all and everything else is unscathed miraculously!
this is not 2022. come on!!!!!!!!
What?
Great vid! Thanks
Curious of the part# on the skid plate. I cant seem to find one for the 22 model. I just purchased mine 3 days ago, love the bike!
Hey Congrats! Are you talking about the Works Connection one? Here’s the link www.worksconnection.com/p35394-skid-plate-extended-coverage
u lay it down once and the hand guards will snap. get full wrap around hand guards
Done! That was first on my list
I deleted all that smog shit off of mine took it all out
Do you have a video on how to do it?
No but i can make one
@@jthondacrf8926 That’d be cool! Do it man
Yep in Europe the power goes from 22HP to 53 HP with the restrictions removed.
Why have you stopped posting the
It looks like your post was cut off. What did you mean?
@@Trillian I was saying I have not seen any update from the wreak ?
@@robertlambert7906 Oh sorry. Not really any updates just the bike is good and I’m good. Ready for spring to go riding again!
@@Trillian hell ya I did the stage one got the vortec omg this bike is a diffrent bike now waiting on my stage 2 can
@@robertlambert7906 Sweet! Do you have a vid on it?
do you know if this is leaner approved in Australia
I’m not sure
Awesome bike! You should definitely do the smog delete kit. That will make it fun better even before an exhaust and get rid of a lot of crap.
Thanks! Not sure how to do that. Show me?
Seat bounce?
Just went flyin! Lol
Did you put a ecu or tuner ?
No I didn’t.
Looks good!
I know you mentioned it in the video, but I hope you know just how bad it is to continue running the engine lean. It can and will destroy your valves over time, so definitely make sure to fix it as soon as possible. Thats a nice bike, and I'm guessing you worked hard for it. So I just wanted to let you know. Same thing for anyone reading this. Make sure you remap the ecu by adding a fuel programmer etc., and adjust accordingly. The goal is to maintain a proper air/fuel mixture.
Yes, thanks!
Haha! Looks like you already know! I mentioned some of this stuff when I commented on your other video. My bad!
Lol, no problem!
That bracket with the bolt hole for the right side case cover and hook type thing is for a brake light switch. I bought a '22 a couple weeks ago and looked into a few things. The 450X shares the frame, engine and a few other things with the 450L, The L has a different foot brake pedal that connects to the brake light switch that would be mounted in that bracket. I bought a Zeta front sprocket cover with a case saver and tossed that plastic sprocket cover. The Zeta cover has the hook for that hose too so it won't flop around. I saw you mention in another comment that your exhaust was glowing red, I'd say it's running lean. These are green sticker bikes so they are programmed to run lean from the factory for emissions. I picked up a JD Jetting Power Surge 6x fuel injection tuner for mine, it takes care of the lean running and smooths out some of the off idle throttle twitchiness. With the stock exhaust, the factory ECU programming is fine but an aftermarket exhaust lets it breathe a litte better, and without a different ECU or a fuel injection tuner, they get a little lean. You would have to have a air/fuel ratio meter to know how lean though. Otherwise, I love my 450X, it's an awesome all around bike... great transmission, power and suspension. I also wanted lights so I can plate mine.
Thanks bro! Love of good knowledge there
You crf450x came with electric fan ? Thanks
No it didn’t but I’m going to put one on.
My fried says the fan from the 450l fit .
@@ramonfigueroa2495 Cool, thanks!
I used to ride at rampart range when I was stationed at Fort Carson, CO. This was back in 95 and 96. Good times up there! I'm from Wichita Falls, TX., so that was my first time riding in the mountains!
Very cool!
Its all fun and games until someone gets tossed over the handlebars!! LOL Glad you are OK!
Exactly! Lol!
That bike would be great for me if it wasn't so expensive and you didn't have to do maintenance on it every 30 minutes! I would recommend a SWM over this bike any day of the week and twice on Sunday! Way cheaper and better overall according to dirt bike magazine and many others!
What’s an SWM? Actually the maintenance on this bike is great! You can ride about an entire year before you need to do an oil change. That’s one of the things I love about it.
@@Trillian look them up in the 450 shootout dirt bike magazine put out! There basically a husky! Badass is what they are! They are rated really high
@@waylonswaycraps SWM is an 06 Husky..they’re nice but better than a Honda? Idk.
Did it come with head light an tail light or did you install
Comes with it!
I’m picking up mine tomorrow. Is the tail light also a brake light?
Welp tried to ride mine up a road with snow and broke my knuckle gaurd I’m pissed lol
Dang! Are you here in Colorado too?
Awesome! That's Leadville though, and Turquoise lake. You're in my back yard! 😃
You’re right! That is Turquoise Lake. It was the first day of our trip BV so hence the name. Do you ride up there?
@@Trillian just got a dirt bike so hopefully I'll be riding there this summer when every thing melts

Whats the damage
Not much - I cracked the speedometer screen and that was it! Should have been way more damage

Looks painful. Glad you're ok!
It was! 🤣
How’s the bike
It was actually perfectly fine except that I cracked the speedometer screen. I was so happy I didn’t damage anything else!
Bought one new in May of ‘21. Little doggish in the low end. Installed a fmf muffler and Power Commander V and it uncorked 🤘🏼
Nice! Which FMF muffler?
@@Trillian Powercore 4! The next mod I’m considering is deleting the air filter cage/mesh and swapping it for the Twin Air Power Flow kit.
@@edgerlyb19 I put a Twin Air filter on mine too but I’m not sure if the one you’re talking about is different. It’s super tight changing the filter. Can barely get the screw in there!
@@Trillian They don’t make it easy! The kit I’m referring too deletes the metal mesh which traps back fire sparks and the twin air filter is flame retardant. When you deleted the metal mesh foam guard, it increased air flow.
@@edgerlyb19 That’s good to know! Can you shoot me the link for it?
I want to add a yoshi exhaust to a brand new 450X, not broken in as yet. Are there any mapping or tuning issues that need to be addressed?
I'm honestly not sure. I've gotten conflicting answers. I haven't done anything to mine and it runs great. No popping, backfiring or hesitation. Just runs hot so I'm going to have a fan installed.
@@Trillian thanks bro
Ouch!!!! Glad you're OK man.
Thanks! I was definitely pretty banged up
I have a quick question is the 2022 model still a green sticker
Yep!
The best motorcycle to ride
Oh yeah! Love it
When the bike is running can you turn the lights in and off? Or are they always on?
They’re always on. I’m going to add a switch to mine because I don’t like that
That’s rad man! I’ve hiked a bunch of 14ers, but I’ve been wanting to ride this one. Great job!
Thanks! I can’t wait to do it again. If you want to go, hit me up and we’ll do it with you!
Did you do Emissions what ecu / chip did you use ?
I didn’t make any changes actually, just put the pipe on and went riding! Runs great, no backfiring or popping at all
@@Trillian nice imma gonna have to do the same but right now I’m saving up for a snow track for this winter
Are there any tuning or mapping issues to worry about when adding the yoshi exhaust?
@@sandersondan YES! you need to get the Vortex ECU. Yes you're bike will run without the ECU but not for long.
@@sandersondan Running lean is no joke! Among other things, those valves will only see a fraction of their intended life span if the bike is ran like that too long. It's very bad for an engine. So yeah, definitely make sure you fix the lean condition by adding the appropriate amount of fuel to recorrect the air/fuel mixture.
Did you remove the baffle
The Yosh exhaust came without it installed so I put it in
