So I took my car for 135k service interval and now they are telling me that I need to replace timing chain I thought these can last for long. I bought it new in 2017. Any advice?

Are there any other known fixes for this unit? I have the exact same unit in my Golf but is not working (throws an error). I took it apart, resistors seem to be fine (10 and 63ohms) and solder joints seem to be intact.

I had exactly the same problem, you cannot buy the balancer module driveshaft individually. The whole balancer module gear assembly has to be purchased at roughly £700. This I did but to find that you cannot take the new drive shaft from the new gear assembly and insert it in the place of the old drive shaft ( the part you show, with the broken teeth). The reason being that the new driveshaft has slightly a different design/shape due the obvious manufacturing fault and it does not mesh well with the old parts. It's very noisy. To replace the whole gear assembly means taking off the crank pulley, timing belt, engine side casing etc etc and is a big expensive job. I have now driven the car for a two years without the balancer module attached. The resulting issues that I've had are: there is now more higher frequency engine vibration (obviously... you have removed the part that dampens the engine vibrations/harmonics), also the gear/s that are at the bottom of the engine that are driven off the same gear that drives the balancer module gear assembly, for example the oil pump, which in my case now seems to have an intermittent problem of not being driven properly when at idle. I believe this is because there is a gear that drives the oil pump which is a clutched gear, and the slack (or reduction of friction/drive pressure) in the gear system by removing the balancer module, has upset the ability of this clutched gear to engage/disengage at the right engine speed. Basically when driving normally the oil pump works fine, once the car is warm and the oil is thinner, when you pull up to a stop light the low oil pressure warning light comes on. My conclusion is as above for the cause, and you can even hear that there is slack gear or something along those lines making quite a lot of noise at idle. When driving normally everything seems fine. Two years it's been like this and the turbo hasn't died yet so the oil pump must still working within reason. Other issues I've had with the car is the classic egr/dpf soot build up. The whole intake manifold was full of soot roughly 75% of the manifold was blocked up, probably due to a dodgy egr valve and the fact that I tow a lot. These engines definitely need a catch can to reduce the oil vapour from the head being recirculated through the EGR valve.

Nici lanțul nu mai e ce a fost! E mai ieftin de schimbat o distribuție pe curea si cu interval de 200mii km e chiar peste lant!

Unde se afla Z35 la un golf5 ? Partea pasager sau sofer ? M-am uitat pe nste scheme si nu sunt foarte explicite

Cei ce se inspiră de aici, aveti grija, pe axul motor se află o săgeată mică, aceea trebuie aliniată cu zaua colorată - in acest video nu se vede, fiind acoperită de surubul pus pe vibrochen. Să nu fiți duși în eroare că se aliniază cu pana de pe vibrochen

A-ti refăcut lipiturile si a functionat?

Mulțumim. Am o problema la pornirea la rece. Am schimbat bujiile cred ca ar fi din cauza lui.
