Congrats on tenure. That's a big deal. I hope you celebrated. (This from a retired full prof who remembers the grind.)
Nice video. Two questions for you. First do you have the plans for this smoker and second do you have a different taste when using cedar? Thanks, from Alabama
Beautiful
Just buy a cheap pocket diary
@@nr-xp3dc you miss the point.
I don't like dressing the deer, but venison stew really is the best!
Nicely done Conner Homestead! Looks delicious!!
Very informative for people in academia, as a student or faculty member. Just curious if you are still daily driving A5X or tempted by the new version A5X2. I don’t have any and I am unable to decide between A5X and A5X2.
@Ammarsays I don't think they sell the A5X anymore only the upgraded A5X2. I'm using a A5X I bought from someone reselling. There's a good resale market for the devices as many people buy to try them out. I'm happy enough to stick with it especially since Supernote updates their devices with free software upgrades on all devices.
@@ConnerHomesteadyes you are right. New A5X is not available anymore and prices for used ones are still high. I would better save for the new one so I can use it for longer. Thank you once again for your review.
As a fellow faculty member I have a question. My university expects any of our devices with sensitive information to be both password-protected and encrypted. If I understand correctly, there is no way to have onboard encryption for the Supernote. How do you handle student information in terms of privacy expectations?
@sdorn I really only use it to read and write feedback on their work. I do have an attendance sheet on there. I use Google Classroom for grading, communication and other record keeping.
This was great! Thanks!
I'm a PhD student you literally just gave me great ideas for organization thank you!!!
@@isaacstrings910 Glad to help!
❤❤❤this is amazing
You are very well organized! I recently discovered PKM (personal knowledge management), the CODE and PARA models. Don't know if it will help someone with your level of organization, though. Thank you for the peek into how you use the Supernote. I just bought one, so it hasn't even shipped yet.
Your home and land is so huge, I the catfish omg, so nice ❤
Good video thank you. I was wondering how you made the date hyperlink you show (at around 2.10) without the hyperlink symbol being visible beside the date. Its a lovely discrete way of using the feature. Thanks for the video.

Hey, young lady. What you have is a good cold smoker. Cold smokers are difficult to achieve. Cold smokers are good to smoke cured meat such as pork loin, pork belly, eye of round. So you can make cold cuts. I also like your cork soaking in alcohol to start a fire. Good thing I don't throw away my wine bottle corks. You could modify your smoke house (cabinet) by lining the lower part of it with bricks so you could burn wood directly inside of it. This way you can have a cold smoker and hot smoker with the same cabinet.
Sorry I am trying to understand the term HOMESTEADER: this is what Google shows: “someone who goes to live and grow crops on land given by the government, especially in the past.” Is this the context you mean it in? EDIT: The above is the Cambridge dictionary definition. I see there is also a Wikipedia definition. Is this what you mean by Homesteader? “Homesteading is a lifestyle of self-sufficiency. It is characterized by subsistence agriculture, home preservation of food, and may also involve the small scale production of textiles, clothing, and craft work for household use or sale.”
@SpikedSilver there are different levels to homesteading but the 2nd definition is closer to what we do.
they’re beautiful! 😍
The caterpillar she picked looks like army worm. For 2 years they were the bane of my existance! Somehow I beat them. Had zero in 2024. Only had horn worm pop up on one tomato plant and I whooped him, had great tomato season last summer. Btw didnt even know you two started a channel! (My sister just told me) Congrats.
❤❤
Y'all have a lot of foraging potential around there. Make you some fire cider.
@HSR-bk5qb i did some light foraging during our first year. Wild onions, sorrel, blackberries, maypop, purslane, etc. Mostly an identification exercise.
Are you discovering what kind of 'weeds' you having growing in there... to see if they are actually helpful herbal medicines you can harvest during winter for teas?
@HSR-bk5qb yes. But they really overtook the beds. You can check out one of our videos in the greenhouse Playlist to see how bad it was. We couldn't keep up.
Did I see a sole passionfruit hanging there among the loofah?
@@HSR-bk5qb Yes...maypop! It's in the passionfruit family. They're volunteers. We had quite a few.
Beautiful! Easy DIY system 🙂 Very nice work!
The maypop flowers are so good for anxiety. My favorite flower as far as beauty goes too. So awesome to see. 🙂
This looks awesome, and congrats on getting tenure!
I've been looking at getting a digital notebook. I'll have to check into this one. Thanks for posting.
I like all the varieties you have growing on your trellis. It does look beautiful!
Hi there!!! I'm happy I found you. I am doing this right now with 10 trees/shrubs we found in our yard. We just purchased some land and keep finding goodies. Beauty Berries are one. I'm in Central AR as well. I'd love to know about the group so I can join. We are new to the area and are looking for a community to be a part of.
@@krissychilds Welcome! The group is Central Arkansas Homesteading Ladies on FB.
Wrap some insulation on your pipe from the burner to the smokehouse. I think you are losing quite a bit of heat as it passes thru the connector. I love the rack set up, that was a great idea, strong enough to hold heavy meats, far better than light weight wire. You have me rethinking how mine is, now just to find a thicker rack.
How often do you have to feed them?
@@DRicketts I do a few times a week.
Wow they have got so big. ❤
Gonna have to look up how to make cucumber lemonade!!!
Hey Shelly, great build. I built a double barrel smoker a few years ago and just replaced the fire box/barrel. The one thing I did for my doors is I bought an extra barrel and cut the doors 3” wider and taller than the opening.
😂looX like the blue gillsbput the word out!!! The fish version of “HootyHooooo”
Nice
Beautiful
IDK what your plans are for the beds that were infested. However, if the beds are deep enough, lasagna gardening with layers of wet cardboard and compost/soil on top might be a good way to go.
This is all so cool! I’m in awe!!🤩
Thanks for the video. I have a question - is there a pump with aeration in this system or is a regular water pump installed?
The aeration comes from the space between the Roots and water line. They're not completely submerged. They have pumps that work on a schedule 30 min on/off.
Thank you for your time
❤ the tea garden is looking amazing. I love lemon balm.
💪🏾🐲
I love these plants! I have some growing wild on our homestead here in Georgia. Please Iet me know when you have an update on them.
@einrefanddjw2720 unfortunately they didn't make it. I really didn't go back and check on them. I was trying to do the most! 😆
Urgh so frustrating! Is there anyplace nearby you can get some ladybugs to release in the hoop house to eat the aphids? Sorry if you mentioned that in the vid and I missed it.
Just wondering how the solar panel has been doing wedged where you have it? Any issues with the plastic wearing thin or getting too hot? I want to do the same thing but I tend to over think things 😅. Would love to learn from you. Is your controller still cool enough?
No issues so far. Gets lots of sun!
Thanks for sharing your garden
Those taters are gunna cook in that house ! They don’t like heat
We'll see.
wow so much luscious lettuce!! And I love the lavender tree - that is cute! What a huge and fantastic greenhouse setup you have!
What are you smoking? Asking, because I see your smoker on an extended pipe, but you at the same time water the wood flakes. If you smoke on cold smoking, don't add any water to the system... don't water your woodchips.
Smoked a ham. This was not a cold smoke. Pipe connects it to a separate smoker serving as its firebox.
🎉🎉🎉 even the Winans have a song “It’s been a long time coming….” LMAOOOO Hopefully he will get his shyt together and do more than cosmetic fixes.
