Yesterday, May 1, 2023, we lost one of the greatest Canadian singer/songwriters ever. Gordon Lightfoot was probably the biggest influence on my own musical journey and helped shape my own writing and performance styles. Gone but not forgotten. Many thanks Gord. Recorded live at Lake Como with thanks to Jerry Brown on bass, Sylvie Marcoux on keyboards and Jean-René Brulé on percussion.

I was inspired to write this song this winter for the "Heart of Georgian Bay" project here in Midland, Ontario. I have spent 62 of my 72 summers at our island cottage in Pointe-Au-Baril, Ontario, so writing this song was a labour of love sharing some of my own love of our lives on Georgian Bay.

This video and recording of Reid's song "Highway 17" (Copyright-2012), features backing vocals by Margaret Wilson and Marilynn Massie. Backing musicians are Sil Simone (electric and acoustic guitar, mandolin), Carey Gurden (electric bass), and Jim Burgess (drums). Produced by Dave Chester of Chalet Studios. Post production engineering was completed by our good friend and tech marvel Glenn Erwin.

This "OH SO FUN" Birthday song was written in 1984 by singer-songwriter Tina Liza Jones. But it was John McCutcheon's arrangement and recording that brought the song out of relative obscurity. This song by Toronto singer/songwriter Norm Hacking, released on the album Skysongs in 1996, has become my favourite Christmas song to perform. Norm, who wrote this song for his Grandmother Ella Karach, died of a heart attack at the age of 57. A hopeless romantic, Norms songs have always moved me, and I love performing them.

This was one of the last songs Warren Zevon ever recorded before his death at age 56 from Mesothelioma in 2003. "Keep Me In Your Heart" was subsequently nominated for a Grammy Award, posthumously, for "Best Song of the Year".

We both get a bit choked up whenever we sing this wonderful Alan Jackson song that he wrote in 2003. We've been singing this song for Don and Anice for 7 or 8 years now. I can see them, in my mind's eye, dancing together as we sing . Great memories!! With love!!!

This whole song was written by Sydney (8-1/2) and Kyle (6-1/2) with a little help from Reid and Margaret (AKA Grampa and Gramma). The writing, playing and rehearsing has all been done in "Music Class" as we help to homeschool the kids during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The second line of the song is "I want to live me some more" not "I want to leave this alone"
Thanks for your comment Rex. There certainly seems to be two versions of that line. Searching lyrics for this song on the internet shows about 50/50 of both versions. I'm wondering if TK recorded one version and the changed the line on a later recording. Things that make you go Hmmmm!
