Gohan didnt have that much potential as a fighter because he doesnt actually love fighting,and because he cant genuenly center on and had so little training experience hes martial skills are really mediocre at best,thats why he never was able to win against the androids,he didnt have the originallity or the training,he only had the sense of responsability that he was the last defender of life on earth,but he just wasnt up to task Gohan was only like that in the future because he was forced too,he isnt actually like that,its just hes sense of responsability pushing him foward,has he beaten the androids he probably would have returned to hes daily life of a scholar

The ironic part is Trunks is the reason why he became a student When trunks went back in time and gave Goku the antidote for the heart virus he essentially gave Gohan a reason to be weak because with his father around he had no reason to continue training

With Naruto and Sasuke being the pinnacle in this universe, it makes no sense to try to top them. Should have been a happy little slice of life / small villain of the day story. Everybode would have loved that.

One piece is an amazing show because It feels as you were inside It, you are in this journey with every character, you see them grow and become more complex, the story builds up and makes perfect sense, It never feels as things were put there just because, everything has a purpose soon or later. I started watching anime at my 20s, pretty late i guess, watched Naruto first and became an instant fan (read the manga because pacing was just better) but i struggled watching long ass animes, when I was a child here in Spain they used to put One piece at public TV (snd more anime) but I just watched It without paying atention to the story...my boyfriend beg me to watch it and oh boy I will always thank him for that, it's now my favourite anime ever, and I've watched A LOT of anime.

I wouldnt call Ace "wasted potential" When I hear that phrase, it gives the impression a character was mishandled. Ace's "wasted potential" was entirely the point of his death. It's the talented, main character energy brother of Luffy being snuffed out too early and the world reacting to the death of Gol D Rodger's son and White Beard confirming the existence of the One Piece. We may feel like we wanted more Ace in the show, but in the end he served his narrative purpose

I know its clickbait in the title but come one now. calling people stupid because they don't like a character is ignorant. not everyone hates him for the same reason. though i will say MHA hate is forced a lot of the time. I dislike him because I feel he's too one dimensional in a way i don't really resonate with. the crybaby allegations are just untrue but when i compare his character arc to someone like ochaco, to me it feels underwhelming. He's just "fine" to me. Of course he hasn't reached the point that all might has in his life to reach that level of maturity and everything. i feel like i would like him a lot more in the sequel that may not even happen.

This is just my personal theory but I don't think Oda is incredibly good at foreshadowing or planning. If course he has a general plan for the story, but what I think he does masterfully is planting a lot of seeds and going back to them when he needs something. I think that gives him the flexibility to write fun chapters but when applicable he can reach back and use a previous character or plot point to create that world building that OP has

Edit : Glad you hate to brought up Naruto, because honestly I'm sick and tired of OP fans and other anime glazers just down playing Naruto just to give OP a brownie point as a dick measuring competition. The thing is that they don't realize, Naruto was supposed to end and not just stay forever, and it's unfair to compare sometimes, because OP is much more ambitious and larger to expand upon, unlike Gege's domain expansion where there is no expansion, just a soon end later. Yes Naruto had more flawed in writing and world building but it doesn't mean you don't have to get out of your way to shit on it and glaze rubber boy again. And they don't even bothered there's also other elements in Naruto that are better than OP, (especially the anime adaptation), Studio Pierrot knows how to make cheograph fight scenes because they actually referenced real life kung fu movies, and many OP fans are too ignorant to know that. And it made sense because Kishimoto was more inspired by Bruce Lee, and the editors recommend him to watch kung fu movies to implement that to the fight scene panels, even Oda himself was impressed by it. And the anime amped it up more, yes it's maybe not flashy as shippuuden but they're still have smart and impressive strategies and it's easy to follow what is going on, you know, like an actual ninja fight. Compare that to early OP's anime even the manga had a their fight scenes are just ok, and the manga isn't better either because sometimes Oda's drawings can be all over the place which feels a bit messy to look at. And don't get me started on Toei's lazy ass recycle animation and not even bothering to animate some certain scenes that are also needed to animate, rather than just half-assed shoved a stale frame in there. And also Naruto (anime) had better sound effects, especially with it's direction, if you've watched Naruto vs Sasuke in part 1, the sound in there without any background music is just felt cinema and surreal all thanks to the sfx making this oddly satisfying sounds while two adolescent boys throw fists at each other. And it became even better at the last fight in shippuden, now look at One Piece, their sfx aren't bad but they are so nore over uses than the rasengan sfx and poofing sfx, it doesn't help those arw old sound effects and the direction is just feels messy, pretty distracting sometimes, not to mention the background music can make it feel more stuffy for my ears. Yes 5th Gear Luffy had amazing use of sound effects with a lifting litemotif music while makes the scenes beautiful that draws me in tears. But oh my God why the hell they've uses a freaking super sayen sfx for the haki. Made a freaking new sfx for that, Toei!. And I didn't get to mention Naruto's awesome OSTs, especially for the villains where they had their own awesome villain music, which One Piece unfortunately lacking. But you get the idea. Naruto and Dragon Ball was meant to end and it made me learn to accept that and moved on but cherished it as one of my personal favorites (I'm of course speaking my love for Naruto, but Dragon Ball as well, I mean look at the cartel lol). I just wish Toei, Shonen Jump, and Tokyo TV just let them rest in peace instead of bringing new filler ass media that we didn't ask for, especially Boruto, at first I had hope but now I'm like "ok now they're just wondering aimlessly as Zoro." because it was a perfect opportunity to save Kaguya's character by fleshing her out and the Ōtsosuki clan but noo, they're just throwing something in the window right from their ass. And One Piece made me learned to enjoy the journey until the actual end. I'm currently in Egghead by the way.

Future Gohan actually is surprisingly weak compared to the main timeline Gohan. You can find numerous youtube videos explaining how this is the case. My theory as to why Future Gohan never reached anywhere close to his potential as he did as his main timeline self, is because he never had a good teacher for all that long. Piccolo was one of the many Z warriors to die against the androids early on, the only one who could have potentially trained him. But even Piccolo wouldn't be able to train Gohan as efficiently as Goku did, because he doesnt fully understand how Saiyans work. Future Gohan never had that great of a training partner, nor did he ever discover the TIme Chamber.

You've kind've missed the point of Future Gohan. Future Gohan is the complete opposite of present Gohan sure but, he's the version that was never able to reach his potential. Whether that's in terms of power where he didn't have Goku to give him that guidance or his dream of becoming a great scholar since it was abandoned in order to dedicate the rest of his life to fighting. Also kinda odd that you don't talk about Gohan in the Buu saga where he literally put everything on the line to stop Buu from awakening despite Supreme Kai telling him to run, along with literally reaching his full potential. Not to mention the new beast Gohan, like we're not in 2017 anymore💀. Future Gohan is a tragic character that had to abandon everything to dedicate the rest of his life to constant survival while being powerless to do so. Present Gohan had everything while Future Gohan had nothing, he's supposed to be the future that needs to be prevented. That's the entire point of him
