    A well engineered naked bike will ask your to push, flick it around corners like nothing else and constantly inspire you to drive harder. This is not good a thing, especially on the streets, it's not a question of if but when and on a naked that's coming a lot sooner. While a cruiser fights you constantly, fills you with doubt, as soon as you start pushing it tells you a hundred and one ways it's a bad idea - this reigns in the stupidity. The ride between the two is different but for me it's just as enjoyable - I switched from naked to cruisers because I was getting myself into trouble, the unwarranted confidence will kill you or worse. That being said a lot of the new cruisers are quite sporty, almost hybrids. High revving, high performance and aren't going to fight you as much as a traditional cruiser - not a fan myself, theres something so pleasurable about the low down torque of a dumb cruiser while you guide it around the bends

    Aside from chain lube...I use only one...yes...ONE chemical product...and I've been using it for some 4+ decades. I use the GERMAN made, motorcycle specific, all purpose cleaner....S-100. Wet/rinse bike with water....spray on all parts of motorbike...lightly scrub/brush the more 'mucky' areas...rinse off and dry. One product. FAST. Efficient. VERY Effective. SAFE for all motorcycle component materials...AND...only 1 product. I highly recommend it...S-100 all purpose motorcycle cleaner.

    I've got the previous Gen 1050 rs. Put 8000 miles on in 2 years. It's quite a good bike. I got rid of the huge exhausts in favor of a small can like yours. Thinking about switching it up again and am not sure this new one is better enough to bother with. Same frame, similar suspension, different motor / tranny. I've not tried one yet but I have tested newer tuono and s1000r. Probably won't go for either though semi active susp. is niiiice. What to do...

    Have to say an outstanding video presentation, with an honest down to earth, not to mention, constructive commentary. Thank you for posting. I have been riding a BMWR1250R since brand new, for 3 years, but warranty has finished. Big bucks coming up. 1 years extra warranty, £400, the bike is cheap to service but not at 12000 miles. Also my 'local' BM dealer is 50 miles away. My local triumph is but 3. Done a deal there for exactly this bike, but not yet committed. But can ride away 4 years warranty + plus breakdown, brand new. Local dealer if issues. I am a pensioner with several years no claims, my BW quote was £217 last year, been quoted £360 for this bike (£1050 for a ZX10, which I would not buy). Dont like TFT screens, the BM is idiotic and worse, but that is me. Like the old style clocks. My one concern is that the bike is reported to having an overly stiff suspension, you did not mention that, which is reassuring. The bike has virtually the same 0-100 kmph as the BM, but the BM is smooth at low revs due to its high torque engine. It seems the power is really reserved for high speed. The BM does 65 mpg, getting on to half that of this bike, but not doing more than 5000 miles a year, is not a big issue.

    Accurate review. I reckon Triumph could make a 900 Speed, in the same chassis with the torque focused purely for more realistic and satisfying road use. There is real frustration in not being able to feed it the fat coz its just so damn quick on the road. Interestingly no comment on the suspension?

    • @andy_rides
      @andy_rides 8 месяцев назад

      Not sure they would consider a 900, I think the Street & Speed triples between them offer everything anyone would ever need. Although I would like to see the Speed go over the 200bhp mark now to compete with some of the other hyper nakeds, although totally un-needed for the road. It was a while ago but I'm sure I mentioned the suspension in the review.

    Yeah I seem to remember the service manual way of checking the valves was confusing, I believe they say do it that way to save time, instead of having each cam lobe pointing directly up, they are put in a position so that you can check multiple valves at once and save a small amount of time, instead of having to turn each one, I think, anyway.

    • @0x7FFFFFFFFFFF
      @0x7FFFFFFFFFFF 9 месяцев назад

      oh yeah, and good job btw, doing this job is a massive head ache, you didn't even mention the bits about the engine mounting bolts and putting all the fairing back on and routing everything correctly.

    • @andy_rides
      @andy_rides 9 месяцев назад

      Thank you, the bit that stumped me is when you do everything it says the engine seems to be completely opposite, I think the guide is just a bit confusing. Some of the putting it back together is in todays video, although not the fairings as they are still on order.
