He was trully an amazing player and should have went to the world cup earlier. He's the most skilled player Iv'e ever seen along with Gazza. These two men were both geniuses on the ball.

Fazendo isso, eu me lembrava sempre do Rivellino.

As a little boy, my mom took me to watch large screen public TV of f the 74 World Cup in Jamaica. After watching his amazing free kick v E. Germany, I wrote to him c/o CBF and I forgot about it until almost 8 months later he wrote me back a letter and autographed a photo of himself. I was the king of my school with that letter & photo and I've never forgotten his kindness even if I lost the photo/letter.

Benfica were the team of the 1960s and early 1970s. 11 Primeira Liga titles, 8 Taça De Portugal titles, 2 European Cups they had won out of five appearances between 1961-1968, and they played wondrous and sublime sides such as AC Milan, Inter, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United.

As magnificent and electrifying as Rivellino was... he could’ve been a superstar in European football. He turned down big money contracts from Barcelona, Inter, Borussia Monchengladbach and Porto to play with Corinthians and Fluminense. Yet he played his final four years of football in Saudi Arabia with Al-Hilal. He was sublime in his heyday.
