Absolutely no Samoan was obese then. During the filming of this footge there is high anxiety amongst the Samoans, since the Spanish flu was culling 22% of the entire population. Many Samoan leaders were amongst the numerous fatalities. The seeds of resentment towards the occupiers, the British Imperial Force, via the New Zealand Experditionary Force was very apparent. Colonel Logan a Scotsman commanding the New Zealand occupational Force in Apia was recalled and removed from his post and he was also removed from New Zealand in 1919. On his return to Scotland he regaled his role in allowing the Talune to port in Apia, introducing the Spanish flu with no regret with a self satisfaction of the fate that befallen upon the Samoans. He was to never to return to the South Pacific again.
