Your channel is exactly the kind of content I was looking for! It feels like all car camping videos are these elaborate set ups in SUVs and I’m like “what can I do in my car?” It helps you’re in my region too. Any advice on how you pick where to set up camp? Do you recommend national parks over state parks?

11:50 next time you should look at investing in those hammock tents because if you ever run into an area that doesnt have much flat surface or mainly rocks and gravel its perfect for those situations. Plus always better when you can be off the ground and slightly elevated.

There are fewer people during the Fall and Winter seasons because it's cold on Mt. Rainier National Park. The best time to go hiking and camping is beginning of summer. It's not too cold or too hot.

Kate, I love following along on your backpacking and car camping /hiking adventures. Thank you for creating, filming and editing! ❤ A related Q: if you upgraded your car for car camping what would you want? I'm in the Bay Area and also a backpacker. Hoping to get into more car camping and considering my options.
Thank you! I go through phases of wanting a different upgrade every few months, so I'm not sure. I love Mulan too much to give her up anytime soon though. A lot of people love subaru outbacks, and I wanted one for awhile until I realized I want a longer-lasting transmission. Toyota Rav4 is popular, but not sure I like how it drives. Jeeps are cool but gas mileage sucks. Currently eyeing the new mazda CX50 hybrid (I love my mazdas), but I wouldn't upgrade until I see how it does once released & save up. For the bay area, a smaller crossover/SUV might work well for ya. But if it's possible to camp with a car you have now, I'd recommend trying a small build in that first if you haven't already (:
