lifetime tamarack with PWM and hands free steering
Просмотров 6172 года назад
Here's another video of my 2015 lifetime tamarack kayak. since my last one, I've added the hands-free steering. For one of the cheapest fishing kayaks on the market, I think this is probably one of the coolest, and most functional for my needs. I'm a metal fabricator so the motor mount, pedals, and steering arm I made myself, so no links available lol. check out my TikTok (@fishaun_) for short ...

What kind of kayak is that
Yo, you gotta post a video on how you did this this is insanely well-built. We need your help please.
so whats going on.. are you trolling why that screen is moving side ways???
Thinking of buying one,,, and i have no idea how fish finders work.. never seen one being used around my area
The screen shows the history of what passes under the transducer.
Why don’t you swim for them instead of sitting on your ass all day like a real man. I don’t fish. I don’t need to. You bozos do it for sport. Hunting as well. Sitting on your asses with bait. Cowards.
Doesn’t look like bites my friend… more like a snag to garbage
I see you have a 64 ft cone on your A scope . I know the cone gets wider at the bottom . And the fish were at 20 ft deep . How do you know how far to cast out ?
Show your rig set up looking for better ideas then I’ve been finding
Why not put up the actual fish icon on your depth finder?
Cause that's gay...
Was you already hooked up and played it off like you hooked after talking and showing finder ? Lol
😆 might as well have... That was a fresh stocked pond. Usually pretty good action for a few hours
Trolling with electronics on a stocked pond? Lol
THAT is slick!
I know Im late to the party but a really nice job on your set up
What’s your settings to make it look so clear like that?
Bro foreal that's crazyyy
change color to maroon
Slow down the scroll speed.
Reduce noise sensitivity as well
Just had to reset my sonar setting on my garmin 4 anyone got a good video on getting them dialled in? Had it dialed for icefishing but now on open water having alot of issues
How do you know what side to cast to catch the fish you’re seeing on the fish finder
The sonar creates a cone below the boat. In theory, the deeper the water the wider the diameter of the cone at the bottom. General rule of thumb would be to drag behind the boat but either side, especially in a kayak, gets you close. The fish will most definitely see your bait , depending on water clarity of course.
@@chumdinger_official thanks
@chumdinger8320 how do you see right from left tho?
How did you make the mount?
I'm a metal fabricator, so I have access to the machines, materials and tools needed. This one is made of aluminum plate I cut, formed, and welded
@@captain_fishaun5061 would you be willing to make me a duplicate and I can pay for it?
@@captain_fishaun5061 I keep watching this video. It’s just too good. Seriously, brotha, I will pay you whatever you feel is fair for that mount. Thoughts?
Fish on 🎣🤝🏽
You sir are an engineer my god perfection. Good job
Thank u thank u
How did you get the pwm controls mounted so cleanly where they are?
Just experience building things, I guess. The actually PWM is mounted in the hull with construction adhesive... Hope I never have to replace it, cause it's not moving anytime soon haha
Are you trolling bait?
No, hardware. Probably a Macks Lure wedding ring behind a dodger
Hello. Great build! I have a kayak exactly like that. I'm interested in your seat. Where did you get that?
Seat, I got at Costco for around $20. U should check out my latest kayak video. It's the one that's 3:25 long. I've since added hands free steering
@@captain_fishaun5061 Thank you so much for your prompt reply!!!!!!
Thoughts and prayers.
😁
Nice job bro
𝓟Ř𝔬𝓂𝔬𝐒ϻ 🤗
Very sweet setup. I was just curious what battery do you use and how many hours do you get out of it?
Thank you! I now run two 24AH lifePO4 batteries ran in parallel (48AH) I was just trolling the Columbia river last weekend (Brewster WA) and I stayed out there for about 6 hours. When I got home I still had 40% battery life left. BUT.... I run that PWM so it makes my battery last waaaaay longer
Plot twist, the mother cheated and the father secretly knows, so it actually was her kid.
Part 2: I throw her away!? Hahah
If the kid actually broke the fishing rod, I would let the dad do his thing 😍(aka throw the kid away😘)
Lmao
Hahaha the appropriate reaction
Wow I have no words
.....Except for those 5! 😁
Wouldn't wonder if several people in the neighborhood would call 911 cause of you
When it kicks off they're defeaning
Can you come over to my house and help me with my Tamarak? 😂😂😂 great video. Very clean!
Sure! Buy the plane ticket, and I'll head to wherever you're at 😁
I think you might have put too much on that bonk at the end there...
Hahah. Not alot of room to deal with em. Had to watch the video to know what you were talking about, then I saw it. Good stuff
@@captain_fishaun5061 I used to kayak fish for halibut in CA, I totally understand. Hoping to hit drano some day but it's a circus there
It sure can be! But it's actually not bad in a kayak. Even the infamous toilet bowl is so much less stressful in a kayak compared to a gas boat
Do you have links to modulator, seat, ect
Way to MacGyver the heck out of it. Great job and awesome vid.i need to do this.....
Thanks buddy! I appreciate the compliment
Where do you get the aluminum plates from for the mount?
I'm a machinist/fabricator so I got em from work, then cut, formed, and welded em together
You leave your battery in front like that?
I used to, since the access hat he's are so dang small. Since then I've upgraded to lithium batteries that I run in parallel and they stay in the hull
And remember catch fish not feelings.
😁
Thanks for watching the whole video my guy!
Great information!! 🎣🐟
Awesome catch!!!
Kayak fishing looks like such a blast! We definitely have to try it sometime!
I really like trout fishing 'caude usually it's fast action. BUT salmon fishing can be very rewarding 😁
That's an awesome setup! I have been thinking about tossing a trolling motor on my tamarack. How is the stability with the trolling motor?
I have zero issues. Check out my TikTok and there's vids of me fishing, turning... That sort of thing. @fishaun_
Very awesome build
Thank u sir
Can you do a trolling rigging setup how to? Just curious to see how you set up your trolling rig. Another fantastic video by the way!
Sure can, and sure will!
Such a cool kayak, the videos on the river are awesome!
Thank you buddy. Hopefully there will be more.... In about a month. Springers are almost here! 😃😃
@@captain_fishaun5061 saw that a few were trickling over Bonneville!
Yea, I think I'll wait til there a couple more before I make the drive 😁
That's a really cool setup. I didn't realize you were fishing Drano in a tamarack. It must be so cool to have salmon pull you around!
Thank you. Much appreciated
And yes, landed 4 in drano and 1 coho in the Columbia last fall... I love it
Nicely done NEEERD. Can’t wait for the upcoming springer season
Wow!!
Very nice! What PWM did you buy? Link? How has it held up.
Thank you. Bought it on Amazon. Just looked, and it says it's no longer available, so no link sorry. And it has held up great. Many hours on the water, and still holding up
Hey Shaun, very clean setup. Question for you...I saw you added a pulse width modulator. What's the difference between that and a speed controller? Also, my wife just got me the Minnkota 30lb thrust. Do you like the way yours moves against current/wind? I'm thinking of upgrading to the 45lb but I'm not sure spending the extra $100 bucks is worth it. I know the speed won't change but I figure it might push me up the Susquehanna a bit better. Thanks man.
As far as the speed controller, I can't give any objective info cause I have no experience. With the PWM and a 55AH battery, I can be on the water trolling at 1.3-1.7 mph for damn near 11 hours. If there's wind over 5 I can do an easy 6. I wouldn't change anything about my set up
@@captain_fishaun5061 Yeah, I'm thinking the PWM is basically the same thing as a speed controller, just worded differently. I may end up with the 45lb just because where I really need the help is up-stream. Rather not need it and have it than the other way around. Appreciate the insight.
@@thomasnetzel828 absolutely!
Do you have a parts list for electrical? I have a tamarack angler and would like to do the same on mine
Go to my page, and I put links in the description on the other video of the yak
Where did you get that 4 wire plug?
Amazon. However...you only need 2 wires if you install a PMW (variable speed) so I wouldn't buy this. Plus, there are no connection terminals (that I could find) so I had to solder the wires.
@Fi Shaun oh ok do you have a link to your pwm that you purchased? What # thrust is your trolling motor?
I have the lifetime Teton kayak which is pretty much the same kayak you have just a little bit different hull shape. What battery are you using? Do you have any issues with the rear of the kayak sitting too low?
@@SirWilliam9204 I run a mighty max 55AH. I have the 30# endura C2. After the variable speed install, I can run at 1.5-1.6 mph all day long. The pmw is here: Sydien 10V-55V 12V 24V 36V 48V 40A Stepless DC Motor Speed Controller with Forward-Brake-Reverse Switch,Ajustable Potentiometer &Digital Display www.amazon.com/dp/B07GFM53H7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_glt_fabc_CAVBGRKARMZDVD3VYFR0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
@@SirWilliam9204 I have no issues with leaning. The battery site up front, I'm in the middle, and the motor in back so it equals out pretty good. I think I have some vids on my page that might give u a better idea. OR look me up on TikTok. @fishaun_
