Fusion 360 CNC Laser focus callibration tool.
In this video I want to share a simple design that generates toolpaths for generating a laser cut pattern with variable laser cutter height. This allows you to easily identify the optimal laser to work surface distance by evaluating at which height the resulting cutline is thinnest.
This procedure comes from the Optlasers website, but this design helps to automate the making of the testpattern itself.

PCB Solder masks, A Laser Approach - Part 5: Laser cutter tool touch off & laser cutting demo.
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.3 года назад
In this video I will firstly describe a method (of course, there are other good methods as well) to quickly and accurately bring your laser cutter in focus with the help of a tool touch-off plate. Secondly I will demonstrate the actual cutting of the toolpath that was made in part 4 of this series. PCB Solder masks, A Laser Approach - Part 4: Mach3 profile cloning and Fusion 360 toolpaths.
Просмотров 6673 года назад
In this video I will first shortly describe how you can make a copy of an existing Mach3 milling profile from which you can then create your Mach3 laser cutting profile. Secondly I will work out an example to show the basics of making toolpaths for laser cutting in Fusion 360. Optlasers website: optlasersgrav.com/
PCB Solder masks, A Laser Approach - Part 3: Intro to PWM signals for controlling laser power.
Просмотров 6623 года назад
In this video I will analyse the signal that goes from the CNC controller to the Optlasers adapter. I will demonstrate how a change in "spindle speed" changes the PWM duty cycle and hence results in a lower laser power output. Optlasers website: optlasersgrav.com/

There are many designs for thin strip cutting jigs. This is another possibility. The advantage is that you can very precisely dial in the required thickness. It further allows repetitive work and most importantly, it is safe. Yes but on some L.E.D lasers it is impossible to check focus precisely. You see a kind of bar and a double point. My laser is new: it works pretty well. It is due to a poor quality the focusing lens may be.

    Can you turn? I mean that if you can make pieces as if it were a lathe, roughing of cylindrical materials; Does it reach speeds like a lathe? I want to make one but with a CNC router and mount the rotary lathe but be able to use it as a lathe. I hope you understand me and your machine and the work you do are excellent, regards.

    • @thewoodlab2102
      @thewoodlab2102 Год назад

      Hi Luis. The workpiece can not rotate as fast as on a lathe. But the principle is different. The lathe rotates the workpiece very fast and the tool is moved relatively slowly. With the CNC rotation axis, the tool (routerbit) moves very fast and the workpiece rotates relatively slowly. One can however not replace the other. There are overlaps in their capabilities but also things that one can do and the other can't. Greetz, Nicolas

    Hi guy and thanks for your video. I'm jean-yves. Double side metallized like arduino is possible but quite tricky. I now print my pcb with a 20w consuption/5w produced 2D engraving machine recently bought. I use paint burning and clean in water and soap. The result in amazing for etching. I'm doing research on a way to do metallization and then i just finish a constant current power supply. This is an adventure! Your topic is very interesting because i wondered how i could build a pcb 2d engraver myself. Since motors and metallic bars are easy to find, remains the laser and the control card. There are some Arduino projects for the control card here and there. But i know this has to be sudied seriously before starting.

    Good DAY friends. I have problems whit the alineacion of side and side of the gantry. Work, assemble machines with the same structure, only they have a table between the rails. My problem has been to align the rails on each side, to ensure parallelism and perpendicularity, preventing the gantry from crossing and stopping. The rails are located at a distance of 3 meters from each other. Know some technical and effective alignment system. So far I do it empirically with a tensioned steel wire.

    The easiest way would be: Use 1 profile and add a switch "4 pole 2 throw toggle"(cheap) it has 12 pins. 4 center pins goes to the driver. 4 outer (each motor) pins to the motors, calibrate for rotary axis only... calibration don't really matter, axis Y (the table) is only needs to move over the rotary. then flip the switch. Add a plug to the rotary axis, you can unplug it & put it away when not being used

      Dear, the model I have is the PRO4896 by AVID CNC. Bought it in 2016 and later I installed an upgrade package and added about 2ft of extra table length. The rotary axis however is not from AVID CNC. I have a Chinese generic model. The rotary solution offered by AVID is much more expensive, however also much more robust and it allows for larger diameter stock. For light rotary work these Chinese generic rotary-add on's are perfect, for heavy rotary milling work, the AVID kit would be more suitable. Thanks for the nice compliment by the way!!
