I had the honor of seeing him with cream in 2005 and with Bruce baker and Moore. No one absolutely no one was better.

Today's drummers have achieved some fantastic technical chops and speed....but in doing so they forget to play music on the drums they don't tell a story. Ginger along with some of his contemporaries were musicians first and foremost.Sorely missed. RIP master.

First time I heard this song was the cover version by Roy Ayers from 1976. I loved the song then, and I love Gino's original version as well.

My best influence

When I was little, my grandma used to play Mills Brothers songs while driving me to school. This song was my favorite!

At the risk of appearing living in the past, I've yet to hear a drum solo as cohesive and musical as Toad. Yes, other drummers are faster. Can play more complex beats and polyrhythms. But Baker is actually saying something. He's not just executing a bunch of rapid-fire rudiments. Toad is a composition. Ginger Baker was an exceptional drummer.
