Words Will Always Retain Their Power
"Good evening, London. Allow me first to apologize for this interruption. I do, like many of you, appreciate the comforts of every day routine- the security of the familiar, the tranquility of repetition. I enjoy them as much as any bloke. But in the spirit of commemoration, whereby those important events of the past usually associated with someone's death or the end of some awful bloody struggle are celebrated with a nice holiday. I thought we could mark this November the 5th, a day that is sadly no longer remembered, by taking some time out of our daily lives to sit down and have a little chat. There are of course those who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now, orders are being s...

The One Percent
Просмотров 6 млн13 лет назад
This 80-minute documentary focuses on the growing "wealth gap" in America, as seen through the eyes of filmmaker Jamie Johnson, a 27-year-old heir to the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical fortune. Johnson, who cut his film teeth at NYU and made the Emmy®-nominated 2003 HBO documentary Born Rich, here sets his sights on exploring the political, moral and emotional rationale that enables a tiny pe...
His father went to Africa to do a documentary I begggggg! Africa has all the resources and is Rich. It’s just America has a lot more opportunities but please don’t get it twisted Africa is Rich and Beautiful!!!!!
The part on Katrina killed me
This shows how fresh out of college brains are trained towards socialism.
2024 looking for an update
When the guy said that the wealthy aren’t influencing anything it was obviously before the era of citizens United. But of course, they were already influencing back then, and they will continue to influence until the system doesn’t work anymore, and the people decide to change it whatever that looks like may look like the claps of society via World War III may look like an uprising of the people, but against government that has such a great ability to make war. It seems like the ruling class would readily turn those weapons upon their own people in which case would lead us back to living in a feudal system, which in many ways we already are living in

M watching this in 2024. As an African it's heartbreaking for me and my people 😢
I’d know that voice anywhere! JJ😁 Born Rich is one of my favorite documentaries! I actually bought it🤷♀️
Candyman is where I first heard about Cabrini projects
If entrepreneurs of the future create employee-owned/profit sharing businesses, they help everyone.
25:05 the best question to ask a j€w xD
when are we the poor going to realise rich ppl dont give a Fuck about us .
That dad brought a confident man.
The lumber company owner shows how fake Christianity is.
Greed, pride, hard hearts.😔💔🙏But....we all die....we all face Jesus, alone...one on one. We gonna have no fingers pointing at any other person. 🙏We answer for our choices n life. 🙏
Bless this man for doing this. A truly answered prayer
That’s awesome he did same thing his dad did. Hope his dad remembers and gets togeather with his dad and makes change he is capable of
That italian baron....such a sad life. I gues not bcause he is rich, but how empty n puffed up he is. 😮😢
5:37 thats it im a communist
1:08:06 best part of the film, we can make America truly great again. Forgot about the reform period.
I enjoyed that. Very eye opening. I also enjoyed Born Rich. You know I find it fascinating that money is embarrassing. If you have no money you’re embarrassed to say you’re broke, if you have too much money you’re embarrassed to admit it, and the in between people are only too happy to brag. It’s like the three bears porridge, too hot, too cool, just right.
Milton Friedman was a complete douche.
Yes, sequel, please! Can't help but wonder about their thoughts on the fact that their name has been drizzled all over the Diddy parties... I might have to look into that.🤔
Understand that this is not all wealthy people. Wealth is not bad. It’s a mindset! Some people just let wealth get to their head in the material world. Balance is key! I know I want a wealthy life. ❤️
Why tf is his family so tight abt the documentary? Lmao i was so confused. Tf? Maybe they feel guilty
11:13 You really have to listen to the bs Milton Friedman, the guy responsible for the massive increase in disparity between the rich and poor, pushes. His argument that "but whats happened to the level of income of the poor?" And, "but it would be better if it hadn't risen at all? Would it be better if you'd kept the difference the same but no growth in the bottom?" Jamie: "Well if we curtailed growth at the top..." Milton: "You’ll kill growth at the bottom." But Milton, there is no growth at the bottom and the bottom is a very, very sad place to exist in!!!!! And then has the audacity to point to his model being responsible for Jamie having a video recorder, is just ridiculous!!! Perhaps the Family Asset Manager, Brian McNally had Jamie surveiled and Milton was given a heads-up. Because the logic is terrible. Especially when everyone knows there's plenty of money in the world, but it's just not very well distributed! Steve Forbes: "There's nothing wrong with nepotism, as long as you keep it in the family!"
Baby powder killers, no ethics
This video is a gem.
Its funny that the Buddhists and Hindus say being BORN into wealth is from past lives of generosity. (Now people condemn them ) .
His dad looks like a softie
They all sound like Trump... The personal stories glorifying themselves
The sad fact is the son may share the true story but the 1% will try to not let the kid gain the wealth or it will literly take 20 30 years before this child and his other like mind rich kids change the world. J&J says they wonder how and why they gain so much it's because the prices rise and rise and addictive those on drugs that don't need to be.
Jamie is as brave as they come. Thoroughly appreciated this thought provoking study on the disparity between rich and poor, from somebody qualified to comment from the 1 percent camp. Well done all involved. ❤
The Buffett granddaughter is a flake.
Is this a spoof?
This is 12 years ago. Insane
You worry and you should
The difference between the wealth class and working class shows over all these documentaries. Others study to get employed and educate themselves to build and be in charge. Most of this wealthy families started with one person's dream/s so anyone or family can. Wealth is within reach you just need to learn certain set of skills that will enable you to get it and keep it.
They’re only there bc we allow them to be there. And they know it.
This is an amazing film - if you are interested in discussing the current state of things, feel free to connect with me!
No thank you
This should be shown in schools on movie days. It won’t be though
Bro, Milton Friedman was a dishonest hack and you can see it very clearly. Not only does he make absurd claims but he is clearly not up for debating or god forbid, having his intellectual authority challenged in front of a camera. He's so full of shit and he knows it.
IMPORTANT… and that this doesn’t get more positive attention (so it can be seen by more people, more readily) is in itself disturbing. I am pro-capitalist, but these days many who call themselves capitalist-positive are instead feudalists.
That is because capitalism creates a feudal structure...that is what happens when there are winners and losers, and the winners can use finance capital to expand their wealth
Jaime Johnson - kudos. I thought he stopped his documentary work with the brilliant Born Rich, thinking this film, The 1 Percent, was a confusion of names (by or on RUclips, eg), with the former. Both films are brilliant. I hope Johnson feels meaning and purpose which can result in (often does) in happiness. He deserves to be happy, and yet whether he is or is not, he knows the value of his work as a splendid service to ALL humanity (and particularly to all Americans). I admire him. I don’t know him and have no idea how he manages to be so special, such an “old soul” at from a very young age, but I see him occasionally giving a talk (he doesn’t “lecture,” one reason he’s so effective), and I have the “feeling” (emotional) that “I love this young man.”
vote TRUMP.
Disgusting very poor nature
I love this, “we didnt evolve to socialism, we became progressive” yeah sure, isn’t socialism progressive? Lmao these actual clowns, people still poor, what progress is that?
This wealth gap thing is totally normal, the people who build valuable companies get money. Even if you were to take a trillion dollars and give it all away to 300 million Americans you would be left with 3000 dollars per person, what good would that do?
Crazy
