No I think if you just drag they will eventually hit the outputs. The default drag distance for a pole is not a multiple of the drill width.

@@TeamMacIntyre makes sense. I always drag my poles the max distance and make a grid. Then I put in miners. But I guess that’s with miners going in between the poles.

@@TeamMacIntyre oh, maybe it’s medium poles that drag cleanly when using underground’s.

It's definitely the hardest part of the run, mostly just keep practicing and take every shortcut you can to just get a train out. Practice is the main thing :) You can do it! I would guess most of your time loss is on the on patch build, that's probably the hardest part of the run to go fast.

I don't think the major time saves are from speed of blueprint placement, but yes in general I'm sure I do lose a little time with this. It's definitely getting harder to find time save, but this map didn't have a fantastic backside / rocket / green chip side. And I think I can find ways to squeeze more prod mod 1's out early, which will help the entire base. I also had my outposting slowed down severely by lack of trees on this run.

@@TeamMacIntyre okay, so you would need a perfectly generated map that accomplishes everything, uff that's almost impossible with this randomly generated map with random seeds. yes, the green chips and rockets are the bottleneck for many speedrunners where the run becomes a success or failure. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that you'll find your perfect map at some point and make the very best of it, bringing with you a time that we wouldn't have expected ourselves. And a big thank you to your community for keeping a watchful eye on the map and helping you out.

I'm feeling like that's probably not possible with current blueprints (or iterative improvements to current blueprints), but probably is theoretically possible. And once 2.0 comes out, more performant nuclear (so probably no UPS issues) and smarter bots I can foresee helping a lot

Not before 2.0 I bet. There's some mathematical limitation to runs, although I never cared to calculate things, it's just an educated guess.

Zaspar put an insane amount of work into that time, crazy impressive! Honestly, I think I will try my hand at more categories after the 2.0 launch. With the expansion so close, it feels better to wait!

Not sure if this is sarcasm or not haha... but the base has been very drastically altered from the original design at this point, and some parts of it like Science 0 and the new on Patch are heavily put together by me. By this logic, the first person to come up with a 48 stone furnace smelting line is responsible for all world records afterward haha. You are not wrong that the blueprint design is a very collaborative effort that has taken place, and I'm nowhere near the person that is primarily responsible for that... but yes the execution also matters a lot, and that is solely me.
