I’m looking forward to the October projects. That black and silver one is lovely and I also like the jute one. I cut a piece off the jute I have so will have a go at painting it. Thank you for all the inspiration ❤
@@ellymd188 hi, Elly! That's great! So excited about October. Have you painted the jute yet? How'd it go? It's a pleasure! Love sharing ideas and projects. ❤️

@@alexandraalmeida3661 Thank you, Alexandra!! It's so much fun! ❤️
Thank you Stephanie ❤. I like the idea of combining these different weaves. I think I may have done so with the first 2 weaves we did. I must get some photos posted. Really enjoying this month’s prompt/tutorials. I can see these weave have many applications. I love your hearts and the umbrella sounds a great idea. 😊
@@ellymd188 I'm so glad you're enjoying this month's prompt, Elly! They sure do have many applications. Thursday, I'll post another video on this heart project. That's awesome you combined the first two weaves. I believe you posted that one if I remember correctly. Love how yours looks. ❤️ Back in 2019, I made an umbrella with one of my grandmother's quilting scraps and slow stitched a handle for it. The base was denim and I added little stitches to look like rain. For some reason, I thought of that piece when I was working on the first heart I weaved. Thought it would be cool to make the umbrella woven. 🌂 🪡 🧵
Love the weave journey
@@dennypondaview that's great to hear, Denny! Thanks!
Thank you for watching! I'll work more on this heart and film it to upload this coming Thursday. My best to you and yours! Happy stitching!
I am new to slow stitch- last spring really. Thank you for all your tutorials! I truly enjoy your videos. A retired Canadian GG 🫶💐💖
Thank you so much! ❤ I'm so glad to hear you're enjoying the videos. That is so cool you're slow stitching. 🪡 🧵
I’ve already used acrylic paint and watercolour on fabric, but never when the stitching is already done! Such great idea! I love that bluish and orange around that mushroom, it’s a really cool effect 🍄🍄🟫💙💜💚🩶♥️❤️🩵🤎💛🩷🧡
@@alexandraalmeida3661 thanks, Alexandra! It is totally fun! After cutting the mushrooms out I went back with the sharpie markers and added a bit more color. It looks very cool and gives it a highlighted look . Will post a picture on the community section later on today. You should definitely try it out!
Great project!
@@NatalieMoore-l6h Thank you! ❤️
Great video! I’ve been wanting to try out some fabric painting but didn’t know how. Although I have tried crayons and I also tried with some sharpies the other week after your video on gauze (my sharpies which I’ve had for ages were a bit dried out 😂 but I managed a bit). Anyhow, I love your mushrooms and how you’ve painted them. I agree, the first one is spectacular! Love the colours and how it turned out. I do have a question though. Is the alcohol in the spray bottle with the water? Thank you for all your videos. 😊❤
Thank you so much, Elly! This is definitely a fun project to do. Yes, the rubbing alcohol is mixed with water. Its a pleasure sharing these projects! ❤
Correction: The botton of the snippet is stitched with the whip stitch, not the satin stitch.
I have the same experience: someone sees my work and says: “oh, my god, I would never have the patience to do it”, and honestly I never know what to answer, because when you love what you do, “patience” is not exactly the proper word to use, in my opinion. My late mother and grandparents found everything I did awesome, but when I started showing my things to my stepmother and her family, that was the reaction I got, as if I was doing something really hard and it was nonsense to waste so much time with it. Of course, I never showed them anything again. Many people are afraid to try these arts and crafts and then they excuse themselves saying it takes a lot of patience! 😂 That is looking amazing, as I’ve been saying and I’m loving to watch you doing it 💙❤️🩶💜🩷💚🤎🩵♥️🧡💛
@@alexandraalmeida3661 Yup! Totally agree with you. I always find it sad when people find creating a waste of time. I'm sorry you got that reaction. Sigh. People can be so cold and insensitive. There has been people that have asked me (and not in a nice curious way) "What do you do with all that"? Even bookish people with a huge library in their homes have even asked me that! I would have thought bookish people would be more intune with creativity! Good grief. Apparently, some aren't. 😆 I'm with you. There are certain people I don't show my creations to anymore or discuss it with them. Their loss. Thank you, Alexandra! So thrilled with how this snippet is turning out. 🙌 Better than I originally thought it would. Love when that happens! 💙
@@stephaniehopkinsartist I get that question too: what do you do with all that? What do you want it for? And did you know these questions come from artists who follow me on instagram? 🙄🙄🙄
I love the colours you have used on the burlap. I have some hessian (same as burlap in the UK) which I bought to try making a fabric rug but I didn’t get far as I realised it wasn’t for me. It is a bit open than the burlap/hessian but it may still work so I would like to have a try with some acrylic paints I have (though I’ve never tried painting on fabric with this so wish me luck, 😂). I did buy some coloured burlap ribbon a while back which is fun to use for trim. I’m looking forward to seeing how you use these. I have been making some snippet strips so will post a picture on my IG soon. Thank you for the inspiration ❤
@@ellymd188 yeah, burlap can be tricky to work with but with the right base you can make some pretty cool projects. Looking forward to exploring burlap projects! Painting is so great with burlap/jute. It holds it pretty good. Already colored burlap works too for what we'll be doing in case the painting doesn't. That's so cool you're making snippets! Hooray!

@@alexandraalmeida3661 Thank you, Alexandra! ❤️
I did not mean to say the weave I made in this video is anchored. I started the weaving process through three strands then four about half way through. Apologies for the mix up.
I don’t find strange at all that you go back to your previous pieces and add stitches. I don’t do that, but I think that each artist is unique, so each process is unique. And that’s the beauty of us sharing our unique processes to inspire others who, obviously, work differently, because we’re all different. The thing I do is go back to a piece or even a book I made, and undo everything because I don’t like it anymore. Sometimes some things go to other projects, but some are simply so changed that they end up disappearing compared to what they were. Some people find that strange, but that’s my process. I need to look at a stitching piece or an art journal and feel that’s me, you know? If I don’t feel that way anymore, well, it’s time to change it. Your little house 🏡 is absolutely adorable! A wonderful house to spend some holidays in 🏡💙💜❤️🩶💛💚🧡🩷🤎♥️
@@alexandraalmeida3661 Thank you, Alexandra! Love making houses. 🏘 I once took apart a 6 signature journal and make several journals out of it. Lol So cool to hear that other people deconstructed their projects. Yep, each artist is unique and has a process. ❤️
I love how you’ve used the gauze you painted, it’s so effective. Your house is so very cute! Love it 🥰. I too have many phds (projects half done)😂. Every now and then I pick out one to try to finish. Thank you for sharing ❤
Hi, Elly! Thank you! The gauze is really turning out to be a great material to work with. So many projects! ❤ Which is fun. I have the new weave tutorial coming up shortly.

Amazing! What kind and size needle are you using for the wool? Love it! 😃👍
@@susanamedee1157 Hi, Susan! Thank you. For this project I'm using smaller needles because I'm using small size yarn. I'm not really a needle person but I can tell you I use 3 different types of needles for this project. Sharp needles, tapestry needles and the smaller needles you use for hand sewing quilting thread. I use various sizes. Whatever size that I can get the yarn and floss through. I also use different types of threads. The tapestry needles I've used so far is pretty much the smaller sizes. I recommend having a variety. I'm not sure what brands I got but I did get them at JoAnns fabric store. I hope this helps!

Hi, everyone! Thank you for watching. I hope you were inspired and got some ideas! One thing I've just realized when I share weaving tutorials of weaving strips of fabric is that I'm only showing weaving left to right. I do that because I like wonky weaves. If you want a cleaner weave, weave left to right then right to left and go back and forth. I'll explain that more in the next snippet challenge video. Also we will be exploring on making shapes with your snippet roll!

I enjoy watching your videos, you are a talented artist with great imagination. This old quilter can stitch… well less so these days as my hand eye coordination is dodgy… but my imagination is lacking and I struggle with thinking up ideas.
