ADM Dual Dovetail Adaptor for Skywatcher SolarQuest

Fitting the ADM dual dovetail adaptor for Skywatcher SolarQuest. The Skywatcher SolarQuest is a great mount but the weak point is the single screw on the saddle. The ADM dual dovetail makes the mount secure as its split clamp design that grips the dovetail bar along the entire surface of the saddle. The ADM dual dovetail accepts Losmandy style or Vixen style dovetail bars, nor will it mar or sc...
Whippet Bath Time

Whippet bath time. Whippets in the bath and shower because they've been digging in the garden again..... I can't say the dogs liked having a bath but theses pampered pooches are still very cute though. Whippets and water don't mix well.
Life with Whippets
Просмотров 2 тыс.7 месяцев назад
Life with whippets Our whippets are no longer whippet puppies. Our whippets have now reached two years old. Want to know what life with a whippet is like? Easy to sum up in not so many words: Whippets are incredibly lazy. They will happily sleep 23 hours of the day, a 15 minute burst of energy and the rest for eating and fuss. Life with a whippet does not come any easier that that.
Venice in November

A great four days making the best of Venice in November. The weather in Venice in November was kind to us with sunshine every day. If you are thinking of going to Venice in November, do not hesitate, you can't alter the weather anyway and if you do experience the acqua alta, chalk it up as an experience. The best way to explore Venice is to get lost and we loved it. Venice is worth the hype. 00...

Lyme Regis Museum: Sam's medieval coin on display!
I didn’t know that was a term for a dog breed so I thought this was going to be one of those videos about a recorded medical scandal lol
Hey man just got this scope. I have. Coronado solarmax 40 I want to mount on this solar question. Which L mount would I need?
Hi Scott, there is a Sky-Watcher L-Bracket Dovetail available
What absolute bundles of joy! Do you have any advice for bringing home 2 whippets from separate breeders? We'd love to get 2 dogs so they have company while we're at work, but aren't sure when would be best to introduce dogs from different homes to each other.
Hi Beth, yes, they are utter bundles of joy, they'll be 3 in January. These were from the same litter so not really sure about introducing from different homes
@@NickCookOnTheNet My goodness!! Happy early birthday to pups.
Super
Atmospheric conditions is a huge factor in what you can see sometimes
Very nice and informative. Thank you
Looking very different now, much more spotty as we are at solar max
Very nice videos. Informative. One request. Can i get these videos by whatsapp please. Thank you
Hi, sorryi, I don't have the original videos anymore
@@NickCookOnTheNet thank you.
Very nice and informative
Thanks and welcome
@@NickCookOnTheNet thank you.
Anyone owning a whippet should know that it takes a solid three to four years for them to mature and settle down.
They are nearly 3 now and do a great job of doing nothing all day!
Can I do it on both wheels or just the rear? Also, awesome video!
Both, makes a huge difference!
@@NickCookOnTheNet alright, I’m gonna do that right now!
Good weather.
Yes, we got lucky with some September sun. Would love to come here in winter though
Lovely thank you for sharing xx
Loved it, great place to unwind!
2:39 what did the stick do to that elephant 😂
Bored out of his brains!
What a happy family. Dogs are very therapeutic.
They are the best mental health support available!
Is November a good time to visit rome? I hope it’s not flooded
We did Rome in August and it was scorching, Venice in November was great for us
@@NickCookOnTheNet I am planning Rome, Florence and venice in November. I hope the weather will be pleasant 🤞🏻
Would love to do Florence. I am sure you will have a lovely time, enjoy!
Thanks man
You're welcome!
Thanks! Really helpful ❤
You're welcome!
Was it cold
Nope, not at all, we had lovely weather, around 16°C
Once youve shared a whippets life aint no going back XXXXXXXXXX
Yup, never getting our bed back to ourselves either!
Does the back plate come with the ADM dual dovetail, or is that a separate purchase?
Yes, the back plate is part of the package, I got mine from www.firstlightoptics.com/adm-replacement-saddles/adm-dual-dovetail-adaptor-for-solarquest.html
When I got this from ADM for the eclipse it came with everything I needed - both the clamp and the back plate.
Will this work for my Coronado solarmax 40?
@@icecorebaby Hey this should work if using a dovetail or losmandy on your scope, this feels much more secure as it grips the dovetail mount all along
Love how they move between the house and the lawn without touching the gravel. They just fly over it 😁
They can really fly when they want to!
i was always told that if you use filters only on the focuser side that the sun can still heat up the internals of the telescope and that your risking damage without a solar filter at the primary opening. is there any protection from this?
I think because its a small refractor, it wont allow that much light or heat in, so the prism inside the Herschel wedge directs the heat and light away so its safe. In a reflector/newtonian, the full energy of the sun will go onto the secondary mirror, that's why they need a filter at the primary opening. You can only use a solar/herschel wedge on a refractor.
@@NickCookOnTheNet dont forget that magnifying glasses are refractors. looking at refractor theory, the beam focuses internally before the secondary. that would just freak me out. doesnt feel right to me. i would have to do more research. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refracting_telescope#:~:text=The%20objective%20in%20a%20refracting,converge%20upon%20a%20focal%20plane.
A Herschel wedge is the safest way by far, far safer, secure and superior to solar film etc
Lol yup greyhounds Italian greyhounds, whippets . Being in water is an alien experience 😊
Yep, not happy about it at all!
Aww
Still cute, 2 1/2 years later!
@@NickCookOnTheNet i know. I used to have one of those. Unfortunately my childhood friend had a carcinoma and we had to put him to sleep.
Whippets "I'm gonna make a break for it.. I think I am, just gotta get that arm out the way" I own one 😄
Hahah, we learnt to shut the bathroom door after us.... getting them in the bathroom in the first place is exhausting...
@@NickCookOnTheNet I'll bet w two.. Mine just makes me feel really bad. The tail tucked in w the sad, no no, please no look.. Good luck w the channel fellow whippet bro ✨🙌
OMzg my name is Hetty
Please to meet you, Hetty the human!
Haha ty
Thankyou
Did your whippets go with you on holiday?
I wish! Heartbreaking to go away without them, they would have loved the sun!
Hi mum if you see this comment
Been to that place is it in Derbyshire or around their
Yup, Higger Tor near Hathersage
i have a greyhound named jeffery i think he might be a whippet mix has a fur pattern from whippets
Hilda (the back and white one) has changed so much, much more white on her face, lovely markings under her neck
"It has a removable wheel." I think pretty much all wheels are removable. Loved the video.
Hahaha, never thought of it like that!
are you maff from discord ?
Nope, I've no idea who that is
Beautiful dogs Whippets as are greyhounds, so gentle.
Mini speed rockets, love their gentleness!
You have 2 beautiful dogs. How old are they both now? Random question what do they weigh? We have a whippet pup but am worried he is going to be on the bigger scale 😂
2 years old now, both weigh around 10-11 kilos (I think I've got that right!). Hettie (the grey one) feels much lighter than Hilda!
They are absolutely beautiful, I love watching your videos. Our boy is 6 months and already 12kilos 🙈 I’m hoping he slows down soon. Thank you for replying x
@@harleyowen4323 Ours grew rapidly in the first 6 months, then very sloooowly over the next 6 months.. Started really calming down after around 18 months, though there are certain items they still like stealing....
Well that is good to know. He loves pinching shoes when nobody is watching , but we love how loving and calm he is around the children. Definitely a lovely addition to our family
My parents have three amazing whippets aged 3, 6 and 8. They have so much personality and are either running outside or being couch potato's. There's no in between. They're such fun breeds!
All or nothing is absolutely right! 23 hours and 55 minutes of sleeping and 5 minutes of utter madness!
Zoomies!!!
Zoomies indeed! I'm still amazed how they can sleep for 23 hours and 50 minutes a day and then have 5 minutes of madness to tire them out for the next 23 hours and 50 minutes...
Thanks.
Hope it helps!
Thought whippet didn't bark.
While they are more likely to fuss a burglar than bark at them, they do have their moments! Hettie (the grey one can be very vocal.
Thank you very much, can you please reply with a link to new metal driveshafts so I can buy
Think mine came from ebay or AliExpress
I have the 2” variety. Works great, sharp image.
Yep, much sharper, and brighter, than I expected, far superior to solar film
Is there any way to orient the PST so that the eyepiece is pointed up, not out the side?
Hi, you can get a L shaped dovetail that might help www.firstlightoptics.com/skywatcher-mounts/skywatcher-l-bracket-dovetail.html
@@NickCookOnTheNet I have an L-bracket, but I discovered that you need to follow one more step: Peeling back the sticker in the middle of the dovetail shoe reveals 4 screws. Take off the dovetail shoe and reorient it 90°. Then your L-bracket will be oriented in the right direction.
Ah lovely i live in north Devon 🥰
The dogs loved it, lovely area and dog friendly!
Does the sun look yellow/orange through the lens? Or did you tweak your image to make it look orange? Thanks.
Hi Mark, it's white through the lens. The orange colour I add through Photoshop.
@@NickCookOnTheNet ok, thanks. I like the Orange color. That’s what I get with a basic white light filter. However, I am ready for some sharper images. Worth the extra cost.
hey nick ive been really enjoying your videos :D! i have my first whippet, she is 3 months old and got me run ragged (in a good way mostly!) such a little biter when she is hyped up but i love her to bits. Your two get me so excited for the future. all the best
That's great news, your first whippet! I do remember running around after the pups, they were very good at chewing the furniture if you dared to take an eye off (and that happened way too many times - the furniture is ruined!) but we do love having them around. Even if they do hog the bed at night....
It's really beyond my comprehension that how so many passionate dog lovers as good as owners who home middle or large dogs, walking them on a daily basis (three times a day) still can't lose some weight😂looks got no different to naturally couch potatoes🎉
Whippets are the laziest dogs on the planet, happy to stay under the quilt on our bed all day. Have to coax them out!
@@NickCookOnTheNet 🐶whippets are lazy dog?! Okay I immediately feel being encouraged to have one😀🥹
😊
Had them two years today! They grow up so fast!
Your video gives me hope. I was trying to image today. Also not great seeing conditions, but have to try if the sun's out. Had good visual. But couldn't focus. Tried with 2 different cameras (174mm and Player One Apollo Micro). Thinking I'll need to use my barlow after seeing your comments.
I'm sure the Barlow will help you get focus. Sometime it can be the most frustrating hobby in the world, seeing conditions are always the biggest single factor for me
@@NickCookOnTheNet Ikr. Idk how exactly to explain, but it wasn't just that I couldn't get a focused image. I couldn't get a good view of the sun. Instead it was just a blob. Similar to what we see when adjusting to any bright object. Using a similar setup on my small refractor, I had to use multiple spacers to achieve a proper view, then I could adjust the fine focus. I tried to use extenders with the PST, but that didn't work either. Next sunny day, I'll try a Barlow.
@@jeffratino5456 Yes, that sounds like "back focus." The Barlow will help
@@NickCookOnTheNet That's what I'm thinking. Had the same issue prior with my refractor.
10 Week old carpet shark owner here! Your whippets are ❤️ i am so exhausted but loving every moment raising mine so far 😊
You've got this! They grow up so fast, enjoy!
Angels....much nicer than people
I can't argue with that!
mine does not want to work.. any solution?
Hi, just make sure your two wires are still attached at the circuit board end as well, then make sure you have two clear bits of wire on your red and black and then twist together.
