Horton Hill with Scott & Farrah
США
Добавлен 2 янв 2021
Horton Hill is located in Southern Indiana. We live on 90 acres which are primarily wooded with a few decent size ponds. We enjoy hunting, fishing and working outside along with making improvements to the property. We do have normal day to day jobs, but can’t wait to get home to all the fun!
Updates for the Costco greenhouse house
Farrah put in some new planting beds around the green house.
Scott built another firewood rack.

We were finally able to get the front pond dam cleared off. Contractor used skid steer with forestry mulching head. dam now looks really good cleared off and we should now be able to maintain it with our equipment going forward. #countryliving #forestry mulching #skid steer

Costco greenhouse build and review.

Assembly/build and review of Costco greenhouse build. Kit instructions were easy to understand and all parts #’s were easily identifiable. We took our time with assembly over a few days. Probably took 4-5hrs total including trying to video it. Seems like a quality kit for the price point of $1350.00. #Costco greenhouse #rurallife #garden

Heavy rains caused some washouts on the driveway and also our neighbors driveway. Land plane welds broke and had to repair it also. I do not claim to be a good welder. I’m just a home owner trying to fix our equipment! #countryliving #compacttractor #hobart welders

The tree by the shed is finally down and now just working on cutting down the stump and bucking logs along with some splitting. Spent part of the weekend at the Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Ky. Lots of good information. Also met the folks who make the Chain Locker for chain saw chains (link below), great people and hopefully product will help keep chains better organized so i know what we...

What do u mean about a tab on rebar? I have alot of wind
How long does it take to assemble?
Hello I would say around 4-5hrs. We split it up over a few days because of weather.
Did your instructions call for caulking all of the panels inside and out?
I didn’t show in video, but they said only outside.
Good job. Thanks for the video.
What a Beautiful property! We're about to put ours together, thanks for how to instructions!
Thank you so much. It has taken a lot to get where we are but have enjoyed it so much. Hope the video helped…you will do great!
Thank you for this video. We bought this unit and are just getting started. Concerning the rebar you used to anchor the structure, what did you do to put a “top” on the rebar?
I don’t have a way to heat and bend rebar to form loop. So I cut off short piece of rebar and welded to top to form a L-shape and pounded in ground. Hope this helps! Thanks Scott
Just started building mine and it calls out the rafter ends to 1 1/2 inch overhang per plans. But I keep getting 1 3/4. What did you get on yours?
Hello, I will have to check. Seems like I had some trouble with that also. I will get back with you. Thanks Scott
Looks like ours are somewhere in between. I think what happened is the top on each side needs either pushed in or pulled out to get it close. Don’t know if that helps. Thanks Scott
What was the cost to buy the green house kit?
Kit was around $1300 when we bought it. They had them on sale a few weeks ago for around 1k. Thanks
I know it has not been too long but I am curious how the greenhouse is working out?
Hello, We love it so far and have had no issues. Looked like Costco possibly marked them down in price recently too!
Awesome, I love it
Thank you!
Your got deer 🦌 and we got the moose in the Newfoundland & Labrador 😮 over 600 a year on highway and side road .
Hate to see what a moose would do to a car!
The last 3 yr price are same up here in Canada crazy on everything we buy buddy . There great and fast for moving the grass for sure . 😊
Looking good Scott and Farrah nice to have a clean and beautiful yard buddy . 😊
Thank you! we have been hitting pretty hard this spring trying to get things cleaned up.
Looks good. You will need to install a hook and chain reinforcement on the beeswax roof vent because the wind will rip it off. I also did the same on the door
Thanks for the tip!
Look 👀 good Scott , cedar got a long life for sure . 😊
hello hopefully last for many years!
Clean the shavings out of your saw, before you burn your saw up
Zip ties, duck tape and some bailing wire it will be as good as new
HAPPY B DAY Scott and your dad . Need to beef up steel in box grader. Your driveway hold up 🆙 good by the look 👀 of thing . 😊
Spring sap running out of the stump . Maple syrup running crazy now last 3 wks 😊
Scott and Farrah everything come with time with spring clean up around the property. 😊 take care great video. 😊
It’s for sure going to be a busy spring with clean-up. Thanks for comments, take care.
Just found your channel . New sub . I like the rugged made splitter . That’s the one I want to upgrade too . Good video !👍🏻🇺🇸🪵

Удачи Вам. Трудовой народ👍
My kind of timber the bigger the better , make a lot firewood 🪵 went there are like 👍 that size for sure 😊.
lots for sure! we are getting closer with that project being done.
Looking good....One wood family to another....really nice
thanks for watching!
Remember cutting a wedge should be own 25% off a tree to work right . Iiii iiiii don’t bore cut 😮, got to careful on them in different way . As a logger straight back cut with a wedge got more control to put it on it mark . 😊
hello I’m definitely still learning how to do this stuff! thanks
I appreciate you sharing your videos. I noticed in the background what I thought were cut up bladders from IBC totes. I have about 50 that I recently brought home and I need to get rid of the bladders. What methods/tools have you found that work best for breaking them down? Do you bury them, burn them, or bring to dump? Some of the ones I got had Roundup in them and smell horrible. Anyway, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for Watching! The best thing i have found so far is a sawzall with a rough cut blade in it. Zips right through them. Then i take them to the trash transfer station.
Here's wishing you and your family all the best for 2024.
Nice video and saw👍🇧🇻
Thank you for watching! I am really starting to like the 500i, just haven’t got to use it a bunch yet.
New subscriber Gotta nice set up there beautiful place So take care stay safe Stay healthy stay happy and Will See you on another one
Hello, @hillbillyfranks! Thank you for the kind words. Farrah and i have enjoyed our time here so far and have so many more things we want to do. We hope the same for you as well.
Good looking log splitter!
thanks Brian.. you need to come run it and the 500i.
Up here in sobeys groceries store SALE for $7.99 bundle mix firewood 🪵. I sale it for $135 a cord and just by the cord. 😊
the little bundles sell for around $6-7 here. I need to start getting inventory built up to sell. Maybe could sell enough tp buy a value meal at McD’s
Nice little chainsaw Scott , I like my 2195 jonsered and 592XP husqvarna in the wood 🪵. We great weather in the 709 yesterday plus 19 and warm . There speaking for 4” to 6” off white gold might get it . The last 3 yrs we are getting little white gold on the west coast . Feed my moose herd early this morning with old size cabbage 🥬 and cattle corn 🌽. So far snares 17 coyotes and shot 14 coyotes over road kill of moose . Got 2 under 40 lbs the other one ☝️ from 40 to 63 lbs . My buddy got one ☝️ last wk 85 lbs coyote There more like wolf up 🔝 here in the 709 . Great video Scott .
thaanks… still getting used to the 500I, for me its a big saw. Probably get a longer bar at some point. Been warmer here in Southern IN for the past few days. even the sun was shining today! That’s a bunch of yotes, can’t get over the weights!
Throw t😂 saws away
Stihl MSA 200 is the best thing going. A 20 inch white pine came down across the wires last week and I was able to make quick work of it with fully charged batteries. The temperature was about 28 degrees. The difference between an electric car and my saw batteries is that the saw batteries are in a heated garage while being charged and stored. Taking the battery out to the cold woods has little affect on it's performance as I'll use it up long before the charge is diminished by the cold. No more worrying about premix and the questionable value of canned fuels. No jerking on the cord to start the gas saw., I just drop in the battery and go to work. If need be I can plug the charger into an outlet in my Super Duty. Anybody want to buy my old Stihl and Husky gas saws?
thanks for the feed back on your experience with your msa200. haven’t made up my mind if I’m getting one yet. thanks again scott
What husq and stihl models you want to sell ?
Battery saws are garbage ! 30+ yrs doing tree work , stick with what ya got
they might have a place, not for sure yet. thanks Scott
Your grandfather this morning for you two , nice little bread 🍞 for little job around the property. My idea is keep away from battery 🔋, the battery cost 💲 a lot for them . One ☝️ thing about gas there can be repair and you can buy replacement parts Scott . 😊
I still haven’t fully wrapped my head around being a grand parent. He is a beautiful little boy!… Not for sure if the battery saw will have a spot on the shelf here. thanks scott
You can’t own too much land. I don’t want to own all the land, just what touches mine.
I agree with your statement! thanks scott
If there is a change to get more forest area - I do everything to get it. Here competition for the forest is really high.
not a lot of decent size pieces come up for sale around us either and it can get pricey when it does.
Land is a good investment it’s always high in the beginning . Think of your options there maybe sell off the property by the water. Look at everything easements you can make yourself.
It all seems expensive!
Yeah it is it’s going to get cheaper either
What more can you ask of someone that is trying. Great video, hope to see more
We will get some more videos out as soon as we can. It’s been tough will all the rain we have been getting to get a lot done outside. thanks for watching!
One bite at a time and the pile will be done
Hello, We finally got to cut/split and stacked! That was a lot of work for us. Thanks for the encouragement!
To bad iiiii was there , I been glad to drop them trees for you with my 2195 jonsered logging chainsaw. I work for yrs in the logging business, now we hang up 🔝 the chainsaw own on the big stuff with saw . The logging equipments doing all the work now faster and safer. Remember THINK SAFETY and always put SAFETY FIRST in the forest trade . 😊
Thanks for the tips. I have not seen much jonesred stuff around here. Mostly still and husky. Thanks again Scott
It’s Friday here 010324 , you got beautiful look 👀 weather , it clean here to put a little snow the ground . We call 📱 it white gold here in 709 known as the ROCK 🪨 ( Newfoundland) beautiful looking firewood walnut. 😊
It has been. doing nothing but raining here for the past few days with more on the way. No snow yet, you can keep all of it!
ALL THE BEST IN THE 2024 , good to see free ranch chickens 🐓 put out the organic free ranch eggs 🥚. Beautiful looking premium firewood 🪵 in the woodyard. 😊
Happy New Year and all the best to you too! We have been working hard on trying to get the splitting area cleaned up. Chickens are still broken and not laying any eggs yet! Thanks for watching we really appreciate it.
Great job, 👍🏼. I love splitting and stacking my timber as well. I have quite a few square metres stacked for next year and the year after. I have more wood to be processed after doing a little bit of clearing some standing dead trees. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching! Sounds like the work never stops for you all so! I wouldn’t have it any other way! Scott
hi there good splitting . well done john
Thanks John!
Good luck on the log splitting
Thanks! sorry for the slow response, still getting use to the RUclips format.
Hello! I’m still very new to the video editing, I will get better!
