Welcome to my channel! I’m Carmen Lanteigne, a Pilates practitioner and owner of Aligned Pilates. With over a decade and a half of practicing and teaching Pilates, I am committed to sharing the classical work of Joseph Pilates. In these years I’ve had the opportunity to train under world-class teachers and a graduate from The Work Program under Master teacher Jay Grimes,.
My videos are for the purpose to supplement a students’ practice and learning of Pilates. I do not believe you can learn Pilates alone from books, videos, or social media. Rather, Pilates must be practiced under the insightful eye of a well-trained teacher.

Full Body Pilates Workout
Welcome back! Or, if you are new, my name is Carmen. I am a fan of Joseph Pilates' corrective exercise method called Contrology, or, as you may know, by his last name, "Pilates."
I will guide you through a full-body workout in today's video.
As in anything new to the body, please stop and leave out the exercises if something hurts. Please look at the Mat Sequence, and if you do not practice any of the exercises, leave them out. Use the exercise tutorials to help develop each exercise separately.
What you will need:
Mat
1 lb Arm Weights (optional)

Oh, that's very kind of you. I feel far from perfect, but I keep practicing. Sure, I will do a video about the feet with a focus on the arch area, as I know this is a problem for some people.

How much the distance between hips to edge of carriage in front?
It depends. But usually as far forward as you can manage. There's always the option to use 2nd or even 3rd gear depending.

Hi Carmen, I really enjoy your series. I am a yoga teacher and beginning Pilates instructor, which is how I found you. My arms are not long enough where my hands reach the mat the way yours do, and I am sure you would agree people have different physiques. (And I am sure not everyone has the nice Casa Pilates mat you do ;) I would welcome your feedback on how to modify this exercise for it to still qualify as "Pilates", e.g., are bent legs ok (as an opening and walking position), is dropping to your knees ok, etc. Obviously, students may be ok with putting weight on their wrists, but their hamstrings may not cooperate. Thank you in advance for your guidance.
Thanks for watching! Yes, as I mention at around 1:11 I talk about bending the knees and maybe with practice, the body will be more receptive to put the weight on the hands in front of the feet. I hope that helps.
