I just want to say, I'm really sorry - especially as someone from a country that behaves similarly to Egyptians. A lot of Egyptians have a lot of internalized racism and cope with it by denying they are African or black and praise and obsess over whiteness. I mean it's just a fact, they are in Africa-- so they are African. I think how you feel just shows how self aware you are and how you don't have self hatred. Your video was very refreshing to watch. I'm glad you met some Egyptians that are in touch with reality and that made you feel welcome my brother. Do you think you will visit Nigeria or another country close by to there?

Bro, you had a perception that might disappointed you. Maybe coming from the black American culture that being black or African just mean automatically we should be the same and one team. The real life is different, its not only skin color or geography...there is relegion, culture, language , history and politics that could made people feel attached or not attached to specific people. For example, Egyptians in general, feel engaged more with Arabic speaking countries more than other nationalities even lots of Egypt don't consider themselves arabs but this feeling of closeness to other arabic speaking countries has many points behind it ...language, culture, religions, history also politics , closness geographicaly, media and education reinforce the idea of brotherhood between Egypt and MENA area more than any other identities. Off course many Egyptians will identify themselves as African as well because we technically in Africa (most of the Egypt land not all) but generally Egyptian consider themselves mainly Egyptians only then attached to MENA countries. For people that treated you well as a tourist because they making business, the will try to make bond and acting nice because they simply making business like any where in any othe countries. So sorry if Egyptian didn’t meet your expectations but I believe maybe you needed to adjust your expectations.

Im telling you from 10 year experience n egypt. You are shocked that they dont identify themselves african? Back in the days from 1999 to 2008, egyptians used to throw stone at us, calling us derogatory names, pulling our hairs on the bus, calling us shokolata, harrassing us to beat up ones they see u with egyptian lady etc etc.

Yes there are many people from different African countries in Istanbul. Senegal is the country that had the most Africans in Istanbul, more than Nigeria. The majority of Senegalese are also Muslim.

Yo como mexicano de la Ciudad de México diría que sí les interesa conocer algo característico más de mi ciudad además de lo mostrado en este vídeo, podría ser Iztapalapa, Xochimilco (sin tomar en cuenta tanto las trajineras), Milpa Alta, Indios Verdes (y más al norte, como hasta Cuautepec), Tlalpan o el Ajusco; y si quieren ir más allá, visiten Tepito, Tláhuac, Ecatepec, Chalco o Tlalnepantla. Aclaro, todos estos lugares llegan a ser muy inseguros para los extranjeros, así que si no quieren arriesgarse, mejor no vayan; al menos se los recomiendo para que no se encierren en la experiencia que solo se les da a los turistas, y para que puedan ver por lo menos como llega a ser la vida de un mexicano en Ciudad de México, su día a día, y cómo veces resulta caro y duro para nosotros mismos. Ya para terminar, como BURLA y por si no sabían, en México sí hay gente de tez blanca jajajaja, yo soy de tez blanca y sin embargo nunca he sido alguien de dinero jajaja P.D.: Las trajineras de Xochimilco llegan a ser muy caras por el turismo, al menos para mí y para otros como mexicanos; te llegan a cobrar $2500 pesos mexicanos (aproximadamente $125 dólares), aunque al menos a mí me cobraron $700 pesos (35 dólares) por un recorrido corto. Se los menciono para que tengan cuidado. Si la gente te ven como extranjero, muchas veces te venderán las cosas más caras
