The entire conversation about “pool popping” is nonsensical. There’s absolutely no logical reason to drain your entire pool for a storm that’s only going to bring 8 or 10 of rain. Perfectly fine to drain just the anticipated amount of rainfall. There are plenty of reasons you just don’t want to “let it flood” besides the fear of water entering your home. Most important is to turn off your pump at the breaker just before the storm hits - it’s almost guaranteed your skimmer and drain will be quickly clogged with debris and your pump motor at risk for burn out. Also critical to throw in a pack of shock just before and just after the storm because likely to have no electrical power for several days. A portable generator and submersible pump are your best friends
A pool PREP video with zero tips on preparation is totally worthless. The only advice was to drain excess water AFTER the storm has passed - that’s not preparation. SMH
