My Grandfather my mother, my eldest brother and his wife and myself worked at this mill. I was there from December 1988 to May 1995. My brother was there from 1970 until 2014. I knew other people from the village who worked here and some who shirked here.
I grew up ( family home for 45 years) a few hundered yards from the mill by the bridge arch seen. Hearing the mill whistle in the misty winter mornings before school ! Brings back so much memory of times in 70's/ 80's. We were told as children that they made the paper for bank notes but not sure if thats so. The railway bridge arch seen is a few miles from Box Tunnel at the Bathford roundabout. Wonderful to see all that went on there. So much hard work. Thank you
Hi, are you Damien's sister who lived at the bottom of Bathford Hill opposite the rugby field? I was born in the cottage between the Inn and the Royal British Legion clubhouse.
Thanks for posting this. My mum worked there for three years in the 50’s and her parents worked there for years before that. My mum is 83 now and she really enjoyed watching this.
