FIELD OF DREAMS EPISODE 6 SEEDING
Просмотров 865Год назад
More work on the Field of Dreams this summer, after I had a grader go over the runways and level them, I had a pesky chunk of Precambrian Shield sticking out of the runway I had to deal with, and as it was as big as a house (or at least too darn big to dig out) I was forced to deal with it in a less than enjoyable way.... a Jackhammer! But it all worked out in the end, and with a huge thank you...

Good job Bill, Thank you for theses great images!
And now I'm the very proud owner of the Rooster.
that's awesome! you'll have to drop in to the Field of Dreams and visit!

Would love to. As soon as i get my rec license ill come out your way. @billbrisson
@@jameshiebert4230 I have a couple goodies for Rooster...
very cool, you buiding a hangar there for it? keep it there?
I have a hangar at the Dryden Airport, so it’s not likely I’ll build one right away, but maybe one day
Awesome brother
thanks. have a look at the latest episode on the channel..... I've come a long way :)
Oh Billy! Nicely done. Proud of your accomplishments. Nick and I would love to come up and visit and fly! I'm retired now. Nick is still working his behind off.
can't wait for you to see it first hand! there's always a place for you guys to stay!
My Sheltie's favourite place on earth was the airport. He owned my yankee. Man I miss him. Great video!
He just loves the airport! Did you take him. Flying?
@@billbrisson no, unfortunately not. He was a big boy and probably a tight fit trying to get him in a Yankee. He loved to guard his plane!!
@@grummansteve I've got a vest for him, and I'm going to test fit him into the right seat with the seatbelts and see how he does. That's likely a whole episode in it's self :)

Looks great Bill, looking forward to flying in for a visit!
can't wait to have someone fly in! thinking about hosting a fly in BBQ in September... Stay tuned for updates 😎
Sept 21 is the date! Fly In BBQ at the Field of Dreams!
Hello...Anymore videos of project 47 coming in near future?
I hope to have some updates soon, the summer has had me busy with building and maintaining runways at the Field of Dreams, but hopefully ill have time to get some new episodes out on the Jeep project. Just uploaded a new episode in the Field of Dreams playlist... check it out!
Yo I was there I’m in the video 😂
Happy birthday dear Tom sir.
I was AOG in Arnprior for 4 days once, turned our to a wire shorting out voltage regulator. 😢. Time to spare , go by air😂 Nice video btw Bill.
Thanks…. Working on the next episode of the series now
Your sound system Sux !
Thanks…. If you watch some later episodes on my channel you’ll be happy to see the audio is better…. There was a learning curve to this 😎
Nice job Bill, that would probably work on my Funk B. Just what I needed 👍
It's amazing what you can come up with from some old bits and pieces if you are willing to spend some time on it :)
Well done! See you tomorrow (again, hopefully). 1st time viewer. New subscriber.
sadly the winds were wicked in Dryden Saturday and I didn't make it to Carman this year :(
Runway look good Bill. Hope you get a good catch of grass 👍

CFGZC was flying out of DOgtooth in the 70s ... its was owned BY BIll renner ... who has its now>>>
I was flying it when Den |Woermke owned it, and the ferry flight was to deliver to the new owner. Not sure who owns it now.
Great job on the roller, looks great.👍
Thanks.... filled it with water and rolled the field last week... weighs a little over 12000 lbs
Great Job. How did you weld all the parts together? did you braze?
I used my MIG welder, it is nice for fabricating stuff, here's a link to the 11' roller I built for my runways... ruclips.net/video/3pOFUh8EcWA/видео.html
Maybe the doubler should actuality be an X that extends to the rim?
not sure exactly what you mean?
How did u lay it out? Do u have box scraper?
I hired a buddy to come over with a grader to get the final profile done, it had a small hump in it of a few feet in elevation. winds here art typically westerly and the field runs east-west so it worked out fine (that's why I bought the land)
@@billbrisson I need to carve one in the desert on my ranch, I'm thinking it would be cheaper to hire someone than rent a grader for a day or two. It's a lot of work for a small tractor and probably really hard to level
yup... call the guy... I was thinking I could do it all with the tractor, but it would take forever! Marty had it done in a day and a half :)@@embededfabrication4482
Mow, install drainage, plow, disc, crush, grade to flat crown(with a grader),seed then maybe next year you can use it. 😊 that’s how I did mine works great.👍👌
@@fly-n-m9445 see the next few episodes.... :)
What's the length?
2200' but the east threshold is right at the tree line
Is it registered? How long is it?
I am in the process of registering the field with Transport Canada, it is 2200’ long with trees at the east end right up to the threshold
We will see how well the grass seed took in the spring, hope to host a fly in BBQ this summer, but it will all depend on the runway conditions :)
Sorry Bill I didn’t give you much to work with
Saw you guys in goderich with my buddy!
Cool... stay tuned for the next episode, where we tour around Kincardine, Goderich and a few other spots
Every time I go into Arnprior I'm dodging para jumpers.
It was only a few minuets, so it wasn't a big deal... I remember when I was jumping out of airplanes... we didn't have anything as big as a skyvan... we crawled out the side of a 206 or a 182 and hung from the strut 😆
Entertaning video Bill. Lots of cool background music. Nice views. Lots of airports. Good work!
A nice one to watch in the dead of winter. Filed a few flight plans from the shade of that gazebo.
Good show Bill. Awesome
i remember when you went skydiving, we waited and saw you at jack's store on airport rd, watched you jump, then it seemed like you stopped in midair for a min, then landed across the hiway
Good times!
Nice video, Dean falling asleep cracked me up!
Yet another great video Bill!
Nice job Bill. Can't wait to see the next one.
@bill Brisson, what did you use for the editing and thumbnail. Its good work btw.
Thanks, I am currently using Filmora 12 for editing. I'm not sure how it compares to other software but it works...ok... I have some issues with the program but it does the job, but it could be better.
I just had a look at your channel.... you really crank out the content! Nice work!
@@billbrisson I need to get better at editing and thumbnails, so I am looking at other channels about my size. I started a facebook group for small aviation creators aviation youtube creators forum
I use the graphics from the editing software and then screenshot it
Nice video. I know the struggles of shooting video and audio on long flights. I use portable batteries and roll 5 cameras for the entire flight. With 4k footage, mass amounts of video have to be offloaded each night. There are always things missing or audio that didn't work that surprises you when you sit down to edit. You guys are covering a lot of ground fast! Looking forward to the next one.
It doesn't help when I am making this up as I go.... LOL but I have to say, I might be getting a wee bit better at this editing gig, but it's still a slow process
@billbrisson It's a long slow process. Each video get better than the last.
i remember the name, dean, even if i was 12/13 yrs old for some reason i remember the name, excellent video, haha correct me if im wrong, went golfing in ignace with R&P tire back in the day
Awesome; it begins! It's glorious when you can chew off such a big junk of the country in one shot because of good weather. My best one day shot was Drumheller to Kitchener, home in time for supper, thanks to a nice tail wind giving the RV9 220mph across the ground over Dryden. They certainly have improved the security at Wawa... when I was there the pooch could fit into the palm of your hand with a smile that wouldn't deter anyone from anything.
Enjoyed the flight and the conversation. Hello from Texas
Love your yellow plane. Its always a treat flying in ideal VFR conditions in N Ont 😊
When the audio crapped out for a bit, I just replaced it with remembered banter from Gimli or Rainy!
not sure about that... late in the evenings the subject matter went from G to PG and R as it got later 😝
Best part of flying up there. @@billbrisson
I know this was a little long winded, but I cut out as much as I could. stick around to the end!
It's only long winded due to the distance you traveled. Good stuff Sir. I suspect that smoke is coming from those Quebec Fires.
I have a little runway envy.
feel free to land here in the spring:)
That was a kick. 12 years ago when I inherited a small sum, it wasn't enough for an RV, so I settled for a "Poor Man's RV", a Pazmany PL-2. Imagine a tri-gear RV 6 with several extra feet of span, oleo gear, tip tanks, and maybe 25-30 kt slower with an O-290. It's one of the few homebuilts that shares the RV's factory production construction with factory production quality drawings (hand drawn in the late 60s). All three gears are identical oleos, built from plans (!). With the fully enclosed wheel fairings and an O-290, it will true out at about 150-155mph at 8000 ft. At low alt I cruise it at 115 w/o fairings and 125 with them on @50%, at a bit over 4 Imp gal/hr. Cheap flying! It's aerobatic (Taiwan built 50 as a cadet trainer) but the ailerons are somewhat heavy, though very crisp, and it's not supposed to be spun. It has large flaps that extend under the fuselage and you can do Stuka like approaches. Overall handing qualities are excellent. Pazmany knew what he was doing. I really wanted a taildragger, but on the other hand the very wide, low tri gear of the PL-2 allows operation in just about any wind and the gear is extremely robust. I have to content myself with towing gliders in a Pawnee for tailwheel thrills these days. The guy I bought it from had completed a show quality RV-7 and had one airplane too many.
Good Job Bill!, Also working on my own field in QC, Still at the early stages, Trees are down and out of the way. 70 hours of digger so first grade is done. Now we let the winter do it's thing. Looking back, any steps would you do differently?
That's great. do differently?.... I guess I would plow up a little more ground than you actually need for the runway surface, I would like to have given myself a little more room off the sides of the runway for a smoother transition to the original field. It's a slow process for sure, but hopefully this spring will bring nice weather and the grass and clover will grow.
where is your field located?
Eastern townships QC@@billbrisson
@@billbrisson Thanks for your quick reply. do you think that you will be re-using your roller on to your field?
I watch all you episodes on the Field of dream, did not find the width of it? So you plan how wide and how much wider would you prefer?
Thanks for sharing. I was wondering what grass did you plant on your field of dreams
I planted clover (with a little Scotts turf builder grass seed mixed in) ruclips.net/video/TkK2nBlaKTU/видео.html
Great video, and a fun weekend. We also camped at Steinbach North near the end of our Wings Across Canada flight. It's a nice little airport. We walked to the golf course clubhouse for supper during our stay.
I'm a member of the Steinbach Flying Club, and it is a great spot to land. there are lots of restaurants within a short walk, and their 100LL is priced about as good as you will ever find!
good evening- that's unreal masterpiece-
Congratulations lots of work now to enjoy

Nice. You need a windsock to make it an official aerodrome.
there is one there but I guess it's not in the shot...
so cool, makes me want to do this! lots of hard work. thanks for sharing!
labour of love lol
I know Mike Toews, great guy. I met him when I was on my military Meteorological Course in Winnipeg in 2000. He gave me a couple of rides in his RV-4, did my first rolls ever in an airplane with him and a couple of knife edge passes down the runway. I’ve had my RV-4 since 2009 and I love it. If you see Mike tell him Brian Eisner says hi. Haven’t talked to him in years.
